Chancellors were solid throughout my first house purchase. The process is long and stressful by design (thanks, UK property market), but the team were responsive, communicative, and didn't do the thing where they ghost you for two weeks then act surprised you followed up.
One specific thing that stood out: they marked the property as sold on all the portals as soon as my offer was accepted. Sounds minor, but I'd had another agent refuse to do this during a previous purchase attempt, which left the door open for competing offers. Chancellors just... did it, without being asked. That kind of small thing tells you a lot about how an agent actually operates.
Would use them again. Genuinely.

Fern has been friendly, helpful and responsive. We particularly appreciated her transparency in matters such as estate fees and local planning developments, and there were no annoying pushy sales tactics.

My wife and I are looking for an investment property in Chipping Norton and the surrounding area for the last few months.
I have seen several homes and been in close contact with Aysha from Chancellors. We reside in the Middle East, hence a lot of the work needed to be done online.

Upfront and honest valuations from Simon chapel, no waffling and confidence a sale could be done quickly.

We're buyers rather than sellers, and it's the first time I've been charged anything by an estate agent on the buy side! Chancellors charge £80 for an anti-money laundering check which most estate agents absorb.
There's nothing we can do about this except post a review here in a bid to discourage the practice more widely.
The staff we've dealt with are great and helpful, I should add.

We viewed a semi-detached barn conversion in Idbury and Julietta was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This was particularly evident with regard to the appliances etc in the property, a very high priority for my wife, and the problem with garden as the vendor had moved out. She offered to return and send us photographs when the garden had been sorted. She was punctual, friendly, and courteous at all times and I would highly recommend her.

We started our sale with Chancellors but they couldn’t follow through, messing us around with unstable buyers and coming across as lazy and disinterested in the check ins. Based on an advice to continue with tenancy proceedings even though Chancellors have been made aware our house is being offered for, so advice given in bad faith by Chancellors, we have been made to pay management fees for something that has not only not been rented, but has not even been signed to be rented. If you can, avoid them for your tenancy contracts and rather go to any other competitor.

Our experience with Chancellors has been absolutely terrible.
One of the main issues was communication. They weren't passing on messages between us and the sellers effectively, which led to a lot of delays and confusion. Our purchase kept being delayed by the sellers and Chancellors' communication primarily consisted of calling and emailing us regularly implying we were causing the delays and asking if we were ready to exchange yet. This in particular was very unhelpful and made a stressful process a lot more hassle than it needed to be.
Communication within the team was also lacking, with no one seeming to really know what was going on. They would always say they'd spoken to the sellers and everything was progressing well, but after several months of delays it was very hard to believe anything they said.
By the end, we were very close to pulling out, and the only reason we didn't was because, while viewing another property, we found one of the other estate agents in the chain and within a day they'd helped us get to point of exchange.
On top of this, Chancellors advertised the property as "chain free" but very soon after we'd had the survey done they told us the sellers were joining a chain. They refused to tell us anything about the chain, except the length.
Positives: It was easy to arrange the viewing (although Alice didn't know that much about the property, and couldn't show us the garage).
We would definitely NOT recommend buying a house being sold via Chancellors! They make it a lot more hassle than it needs to be.
-- Update --
I received a call from a director at Chancellors today. He said he was asking for feedback and this call was part of an investigation he was doing as a result of my review.
Unfortunately, he seemed more focussed on damage control than genuinely trying to improve. Several times he indirectly suggested I might consider changing this review because - he said - they were concerned it might affect business. I gave him half an hour of my time, explaining everything I’d put in the review.
Towards the end he appeared to have realised his approach wasn't working and kept trying to wrap up the call, rather than really listening to my feedback. Not once did he ask for suggestions or what they could have done differently.
He would, however, like me to tell you that the fact they didn’t have a garage key during the viewing wasn’t really their fault - it’s actually on the sellers. He’d also like me to point out that the change from no chain to chain was also entirely on the sellers and nothing to do with Chancellors. He did agree though that they’re paid by the sellers so will always act in their best interests. Make of this what you will!
Based on my personal experience today I would suggest that Chancellors only care about your experience as a buyer when they think it might affect their bottom line. I do however hope this was a genuine attempt to improve, but sadly I don't feel like it was.

Extremely disappointed with the communication, over 30 unreturned phone calls, no updates, and out of date information given often when we were contacted.
As buyers, we ended up having to do a lot of the leg work.
The poor seller wasn't made aware of their obligations, leading to them having to leave work to provide documents on more than one occasion, that should have been organised months before.
As people, I always thought the Chancellor's staff were trying to be helpful when we managed to contact them, but the unacceptable levels of communication made a no chain purchase take 51 weeks from when the offer was first accepted.
Due to Covid19, we were prepared for delays, but I do not feel that this excuses months at a time without correspondence.

We have recently had a valuation on our property by Chancellors in Chipping Norton and were very impressed by the professionalism and attitude of Patrick, the Branch Manager. He appreciated the style and character of the property and the work that had been done. He offered very competitive terms of business and was extremely confident about their abilities to achieve a sale at a realistic price. His valuation was in line with what we thought was the market value of our house.
We decided to go ahead and give this company the opportunity to market the property.
Patrick introduced us to Emma Stefanko, their Senior Sales Negotiator who came out to the house and we discussed the appropriate strategy. She suggested holding an open day after they had carried out some marketing activity. Emma, a delightful and very experienced person asked to carry out all the viewings, freeing us from this task.
On the day we had five viewings and two offers, the lowest offer was at the asking price.
Needless to say the house is sold! All within a few weeks of first contacting Chancellors. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Everyone we have met have offered outstanding levels of customer service, being truly interested in helping us achieve our objectives.
Nothing has been too much trouble, and Emma and Patrick deserve particular mention for their support and advice throughout the process to date!

I have used Chancellors to rent out my property in Chipping Norton since June 2004. They are brilliant, I'd never consider going to another agency as they provide a full professional and reliable service for both landlord and tenant. I deal with Kerry in their management service and quite honestly she's a saint! There is no way that I could arrange all of the repairs that are necessary without her. My house is an old one and so there is always something that needs doing, usually a whole bunch of things all at the same time! Kerry takes away all of the hassle that managing it myself would create for me. So, just wanted to say a huge thanks Kerry, you're a star!

Most recently, e mail correspondence has been through Kerry Lawson (Property Manager) who has been far the most efficient and prompt staff member that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Kerry always replies quickly, covering all questions and issues in a professional and courteous manner and is a credit to Chancellors.
