Charters Sales function is excellent. They won't be the cheapest but, in our experience, they were extremely effective. In terms of the Lettings side of the business, as landlords we have always had good service from our Property Manager, especially our current one, Georgia Spencer, who is always helpful with prompt, relevant communication, and efficient action. This is very important to us as we now live some distance from our rental properties; we need to know that things are running smoothly and our tenants are satisfied. So definitely five stars.
The only improvement we would like to see is in the accounts department: the staff are helpful but the system they have to work with struggles to present the financials in a coherent manner.

Contacted charters about renting out my property and needed some advice, Rosie Mott came to the property to look around and give a valuation and also breakdown how everything works and the process. With this I proceeded to put my house on the market to rent. Rosie has been able to give clear communication the whole way through and also answer any problems I have had. The process has been very easy and understandable. Would recommend to family and friends to get in contact with charters and ask for Rosie mott for any renting advice.

Do not go to this company to rent a property.
There seems to be no fixed process. On two occasions I have been booked in to view only to be told someone has gone before me and been accepted by the landlord.
The second time I was categorically told by a member of staff that no one would jump in front as it would be all viewings together and landlord would then choose most suitable. Another email before the viewing to say it had already been let.
Spoken to lady staff member concerned and she stated that another member of staff had jumped in front with a viewing and been accepted.
This is no way to run a business.

A special mention should go to Gwen Van Zyl, who was in charge of progressing our sale through to completion. To say the chain was a nightmare (through no fault of hers whatsoever) is an understatement; but Gwen worked tirelessly for months, when others would have thrown in the towel. She called me every day, even if just to check I was alright. It was one of those cases where anyone could have given up, but with tenacity and compassion, Gwen made sure everyone stayed on board until the end, and ultimately made this happen for us.

A follow up reminder call on the morning of the appointment was an added bonus. We arrived at the property and was greeted (socially distanced of course ) by a smiling Paul who was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the property and area and answered all our questions without any hesitation. WHY I CHOSE CHARTERS ESTATE AGENCY ROMSEY: In researching which agent to appoint for the sale of my 3 bedroom house in Woolston, I chose to appoint Charters Romsey first and foremost due to one of their greatest unique assets.... Rebecca Pitwell who had been recruited in to their business as a front line Sales Negotiator. Why Beccy...Because I had already been blessed with the good fortune of meeting Beccy several years prior in her former job as one of Harwoods top award winning sales negotiators at Southampton Audi. Beccy had sold several new cars to me where her knowledge, honesty and customer centric relationship skills broke the mold for the UK. The experience she delivered through the whole process was so exemplary and exceeded my expectations to the extent that I was inspired to write an extensive social media article on my amazing customer service experience with Rebecca Pitwell. I was so impressed that I also sat down and wrote a personal letter of congratulations to Andrew Doyle CEO for Audi UK Head Office complimenting them on their wonderful branch representative -Rebecca Pitwell.

2 years later, I had heard that Beccy had taken an upward career step moving into real estate property sales, so naturally I tracked her down to Charters Estates Romsey. When the time came to sell my 3 bedroom Victorian semi in Woolston Southampton, I knew that Beccy would be the one to carry the process through with the utmost professionalism and to represent me as the vendor, so I got back in contact with Becky and she introduced me to her boss Stephen Thornely -Branch Partner for Charters Romsey who came to inspect and perform a valuation on my house the very next day. After enduring several more independent valuations from other agencies, I took the no-brainer decision to appoint Charters Romsey to sell my house.
Steven Thornely is a true gentleman and shares many of those same human skills as Beccy. He is knowledgable on the market, actively listens to the needs of the client, and yet has an understated confidence and spoke honestly and accurately with me about his valuation criteria of my property. He explained how Charters work, and the included benefits of being with Charters E.g.: Charters include a privately contracted specialist photographer to produce 23 fabulous photographs of my homes interior and gardens for marketing, and the style in which they write copy for the property descriptions, the option of hosting an open house days and many other unique features and benefits.
It was a no-brainer for me, so we agreed terms, had the photo-shoot the following week, and within a day the glossy prospectus of my home was printed and circulated to all of the Charters branches and their client list plus premium listings on Rightmove, and Zoopla which went live immediately. We hosted the open day that following Saturday, which resulted in 4 interested parties each making, offers. The next day after some small negotiations, Beccy called to tell me that the new buyers have agreed to purchase my property for full asking price. We are due to complete mid to late February. Once again Beccy has come up triumphantly and her spirit of excellence continues to shine brightly.
