We had a very disappointing experience with Connells. They brought us an offer below our asking price, assuring us they had done their due diligence and that the buyer was ready to move quickly. We accepted on that basis, but after nearly 50 days, the buyer still hadn’t even instructed a solicitor. Despite this, the agent kept us completely in the dark. We had to chase them repeatedly (as did our solicitor), only to be ignored or given vague excuses like “the buyer is doing her research”, which made it clear she was never ready to proceed in the first place. When we asked them to put the flat back on the market, they avoided our messages and delayed taking action, wasting a huge amount of our time. It honestly felt like they couldn’t be bothered to start the viewing process again, lazy and unmotivated. Meanwhile, we were left paying for an empty flat for months on end because of their inaction. Overall, we felt badly misled and very poorly supported throughout the process. Would not recommend.

Will Fletcher, if I could give you more than 5 stars, I would...
After a subpar experience with a mortgage broker, we spoke to Will Fletcher and he was nothing short of amazing. He kept us informed every step of the way, responded to emails promptly, called back as soon as he could, regardless of the query and ensured we got the best deal suited to our needs. I never felt at any point along the way that I wasn't in the know of what was going on.
My family and I will be dealing with Will for any future transactions and I will strongly recommend him to any of our friends who are looking for a mortgage. Competence, kindness, promptness, understanding, knowledge and the experience that Will has is a rare combination to find in one individual. I hope this review helps steer as much business as possible his way!

I had a very good experience with Connells in Southville, in particular with Seb. He was so helpful and friendly. He answered all of my questions on the properties I was interested in and seemed one of the most genuine estate agents I’ve ever met! When Seb wasn’t available Jason was also super helpful. Terrible experience with Beth Anne Eade, the branch manager. She was uncooperative and rude throughout the process. The tenant they found for us allegedly conducted illegal activities in the property, and they never conducted a proper house visit. We are now facing over £15,000 in damages due to their negligence.

I sent a single message through Rightmove to view one property, stating that I would like them to email as opposed to phoning as I work in schools and would find it difficult to answer the phone during the day due to safeguarding reasons. They rang three times that day. I viewed a property that they described as ‘presented in excellent order throughout’ - there was water damage on the carpet by one of the windows/doors to a Juliet balcony, an absolutely disgustingly filthy bathtub, chewing gum (or similar) on the bedroom carpet. General household appliances which don’t have any bearing on the integrity of the house but nevertheless affect your judgement when viewing a flat were also poorly kept (thick limescale on a glass kettle, a rusted toaster, washing-up strewn across the kitchen). I said ‘I wasn’t in love with it’ when they asked to be polite.
Incessant phone calls have ensued. After another two yesterday, I sent another message through Rightmove pleading with them not to call, citing the same reasons as before as I cannot physically answer during the working day. I stated blankly that I was not interested in making an offer and thanked them for their time. I’ve opted out of all marketing preferences including post, email, text and calls (all of which I never consented to in the first place). Still they’ve called again today.
It seems caution is advised even when inquiring about a property with Connells as they will not leave you alone, even when you very clearly state your preferences. Your desperation to sell this property and the unprofessionalism experienced here is astounding.

Agent is late for 20 mins for the first viewing, and then even no show on the last two. Number of viewings was low. They won’t do proactive sales and only wait for enquiries. It’s also doubtful whether they handled all enquiries. Feedback from viewers was either brief or none (even after I chased for 3 times). They also won’t check my availability and just book viewings at anytime and I only got notified by auto-generated emails / text. I can’t think of a single thing that they have done well. When requested to terminate the contract, they also ignored me until I said I will escalate to TPO. Now I have to pull out from my new home purchase as they put complicated terms that I’ll have to pay them commission even if I sell my home to new buyers by any other channels within an undefined period of time.

Worst agent u could get. It’s been over a month since we moved out and even after mutually agreeing the terms of rental deposit with landlord they are not paying us back. We tried calling, sending emails and they are not even willing to send us a response.
Question is why getting this headache when there are a lot of better agents out there with great reviews. Stay away!

As a landlord I found this company very poor. My tenant became so frustrated when reporting small issues that he started to contact me directly so that I could provide fast action. Emails were not answered and there is a total disconnect between the branch and the admin centre in Liverpool. I have terminated the management agreement and am experiencing major issues in getting the deposit repaid to me

3 times my valuation appointment was shifted and then they never turned up! Called them, left a message and never heard back! Tried to arrange viewing a property which was supposed to be managed by another branch but that was not so. Again, no one got back in touch (only to discover an offer had been made on the property and no one bothered to mention that). Avoid at all costs. Have gone with a local agent now.

Bought a property through Connell's, impossible to get hold of, ignore emails and don't return phone calls. Lovely when you finally get through but in a very 'sales person' sort of way. Completed yet the seller was still emptying the property and returned twice the following day to collect more items, one time completely unannounced. Connell's also came to value the property I was selling and the person was late, got my name wrong, showed himself around without asking, didn't take his shoes off before going upstairs and was arrogant and rude. Would not recommend using Connell's at all, I luckily had a very pleasant experience selling with a Bristol based company who were very good, communicative and seem to value their clients.

Connells are a great example of why everyone dislikes estate agents. Extremely pushy to start with, and as soon as you sign the contract they disappear ("will call back" never happens), dishonest, unprofessional and overall incredibly incompetent. A few examples of their dreadful ways are: upselling of packages, outright lying, inability to sell a fully refurbished Totterdown flat for over 6 months and eventually selling for under asking price (in this market! Whilst Greenwoods and Ocean both sold similar flats in much worse conditions for the same price in a matter of weeks), trying to over charge me in the final invoice. Whatever you do, AVOID CONNELLS. I had a decent experience with both my buyer's and my seller's estate agents (Boardwalk and Hunters), which I would recommend instead.

Mortgage services are dreadful. I used Connells to purchase my property a few years back and to be fair they were ok back then. Unfortunately since then mortgage service went down hill massively. Supposedly I paid a fee which meant to last a "lifetime" when using their services in the future. In reality when I tried contacting their senior mortgage consultant on multiple occasions in order to re-mortgage my phone calls and emails were ignored. Massive shame as my initial experience with them was very positive. I gave up at the end and decided to use another provider which is amazing.

Disappointment with this agency started from the very first day, when we moved in and found out that the shower was broken - the water was absolutely scolding and there was no way on changing its temperature. When we contacted Connells about it, they said ‘we rang the previous tenants to ask how to turn on the shower and they said it was working fine. So you probably just don’t know how to use it’. It took us ages to even convince them to bring someone in to check on it and then it turned out that the thermostat was broken.
Any time we had some problems we would get the same answer ‘I’ll call them straight away and sort this out’ but nothing ever would get done. The agent would never get back to us. We constantly had to call them to ask for updates, week after week and the answer would be ‘I’ll call them later’ so the whole time we thought something had been done when actually the agent forgot to make a call on the first place.
With this agency it doesn’t matter what department they have to get it touch with, every single time nobody replies to their emails or calls. They won’t even try to help us in any other way, just have to live with it like it’s nothing.
We had to live in a flat that stank of sewage, the whole street stank as well for nearly 3 months. The blockage was in the street not in our flat so we couldn’t do anything about it ourselves. The only tip from the agency that we got was ‘open a window if it stinks’.
Then someone broke into our post box and that wasn’t sorted out for a long time, the agent even laughed at me when I called to tell him.
We also had to change the light fitting in our bathroom on our own (the irony of them thinking that we were too dumb to switch on a shower but then smart enough to change a light that’s fixed into the ceiling) and were promised to get our money back for it, but again, were promised to get in touch soon and again, nothing happened. Still waiting for our money:)
When we moved out they didn’t return our deposit for ages. You probably can already guess what the answer was ‘nobody replies to their emails or calls’.
After chasing with the deposit team on our own we found out that Connells never informed our landlord on damaged sink that was already like this when we moved in (we sent them pictures, logged it on the maintenance page and spoke about it on multiple occasions but they said due to covid it wasn’t important) and the landlord wanted to charge us £310 for it.
Absolutely disgusted. Worst experience ever.

I used Connells Southville Bristol to purchase my first home and the service offered was very professional. One of the sales advisor, Nitin, was exceptional and took his time answering my questions. Nitin understood what I wanted and when we found the property, he was exceptional in his dealings with myself and the seller to secure the property. I will highly recommend their services.

I'm extremely unimpressed by Connells lack of attention to detail. The particulars they wrote up for my house contained a number of errors - including describing my semi-detached as an end terrace and describing stairs and windows as being in completely the wrong places. The floor plans also bear no resemblance at all to the actual layout of my property.

We had complete trust and knew we were dealing with a professional company. The house was at Whitmead Gardens, Hartcliffe and we were very surprised at the valuation that Justin gave us but true to his word we did achieve the price he quoted within no time at all. We sold our house through Connells in the summer of 2015 and could not recommend them highly enough.
We originally had valuations from 3x other agents, and were happy to go with one of them - but when Justin showed us around a property that we were looking at purchasing, we knew that we had to select Connells to represent us.
The level of professionalism, and enthusiasm for his work convinced us that Justin would get the right sale for our own flat.
It wasn't all plain sailing - we did lose one buyer - through no fault of Justin, Jason and the team. However this is when they can in to their own. They really did pull out all the stops to ensure that we found a new buyer, at the right price and on time to ensure that this setback didn't affect our own purchase, which was on a tight deadline.
The level of contact was great - they were always available via text/mobile/email no matter when we needed to get in touch.
In short - if you are selling in south Bristol - look no further!!!

I have never experienced such an incompetent agency. Absolutely no due diligence taken during our sale causing our home to fall through FOUR TIMES in FOUR MONTHS. This company do not vet their clients properly whatsoever. Moved agents now and came to find that other clients from Connells had also come to the same agents, due to the utter lack of professionalism, customer care and ability to do their jobs properly at Connells.
Unbelievable amount of stress and anxiety working with this branch, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

If you value your sanity and your wallet, really and truely don't use these people, particularly avoid "Charlie" who is a clone of the character Jill from Nighty Night, you'll be the star of your own black comedy.
She managed to upset our buyer so much they pulled out 2 days before we were due to exchange contracts. Dealing with us she seemed to reach for a lie as the answer whatever the question, and literally went on the attack whenever we expressed any concern at all about the process! We're £3000 out of pocket, and emotionally drained and still stuck in the house we were going to sell, after 3 months.
