????? Deeply Regret Using Connells Wednesbury – Unprofessional, Unhelpful, and Overpriced
Selling our home through Connells Wednesbury was one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences we’ve had.
To begin with, they overvalued our house by £20,000, which we now believe was just to win our business. When we finally accepted an offer, the buyer’s mortgage application was declined because the bank flagged the property as overvalued. As a result, we were forced to drop the price by £20,000 just to salvage the sale — a huge financial blow that could have been avoided with an honest, realistic valuation from the start.
They only managed to arrange five viewings, and only one person actually turned up. Communication was poor throughout — we constantly had to chase them for updates. It felt like once they had our signature on a contract, they stopped caring.
The photos used to market our property were overexposed and poor quality, making our home look far worse than it should have.
It often felt like we were doing their job for them. Most of the actual progress came through direct communication between us and the buyer, as Connells offered very little in terms of support or coordination. For a process that’s already stressful, they made things significantly worse.
To make matters worse, the sales manager’s tone was often rude and dismissive, showing very little care or empathy for the stress we were under.
We paid over £4,000 in fees — and not once did we receive a thank you or any kind of follow-up after completion. Just silence.
We would strongly advise others to avoid Connells Wednesbury. If you want a professional, honest, and supportive estate agent, look elsewhere.

I had a very disappointing experience with connells. I was scheduled for a viewing(booked by NIKITA BARKER) only to arrive and find out that no one showed up. After waiting for a while and attempting to reach out, I discovered that they don’t even have the property they booked me to view! This lack of professionalism and clear miscommunication wasted my time and made me question their reliability. I would advise others to be cautious when dealing with them.

Extremely disappointed with the the service at Connells West Bromwich, constantly having to chase up, not helpful at all and when I would call the agents seemed very flat and uninterested.
The property I was interested in had some quite complex issues, I had to find everything out myself with absolutely no help, then when I would ask to speak to a manager he was on holiday ... Just a mess. I will never use connells West Bromwich again.

I spoke to Daniella Mills in sales department of Connells West Bromwich to book in a simple viewing. She said she passed on the message for someone else to get back to me regarding the viewing. 2 days later I hear no response. I call back again for the third time, i went into the office for an update and I get no answer. I have experienced the poorest customer service and no apology for not getting back to me to let me know if it can or can’t be done. Daniella was being very patronising throughout our conversation telling me I was going in circles when she asked me to repeat what I said twice. I am disgusted that there isn’t a level of professionalism provided for customers who are not being provided with a service to view a property. There is no care or understanding and a very poorly operated business.

Stay away from this agent. They are very scammy in the way they operate. They keep house listing on websites even after sale have been agreed. Prime example is the house on Ebenezer which had been sold even before it got listed... but the house is still on rightmove till this moment. Just stay away and save yourself the headache.

I would like to give this company a 0. The sign up of my property for full management by Tracey was appalling. In the first two rent payments there was over £500 missing! The repair service is run by amateurs and a general builder was sent to repair my central heating boiler 13 times making it worst with each visit. Not once did they refer to the central heating maintenance company's contact details that I gave Tracey. Throughout the tenancy there was problems with payments and poor management decisions and out right lies by Connells staff. In the end I was given back one set of keys while the agency and the tenants held back a set of keys each. I made numerous requests for the check out report and in the end it was a total fabrication. The fully furnished house with appliance was completely empty. The tenant stole or threw away furnishings without consent. She claimed the agent collected my items included plumbed washing machine (non of which were more than 3 years old). The tenants removed a thermostat (possibly to show their anger for the poor management of the central heating). There wasn't a pin in the property. The agency provided an email chain that appeared to be fake showing I'd given permission to remove the items, which invalidated my claim for the loss of furnishing and appliances. The agency had no idea when the tenants left, they just knew when the keys were found through the letterbox. It's very difficult to find good lettings agency in the Midlands but this is the worst I every came across. Even the managers investigating disputes were useless. As for Tracey and her sidekick Amanda, they left the company. When I called Tracey to ask about the missing furnishings, she was unwell and screamed I never gave the tenants permission to take your things. A really really bad experience!

Il keep my review short but honest. My previous thoughts on mortgage advisors are not very good; lengthy, laborious and with little result. However this was turned on its head when I was recommended to speak with Veer. Right from the start he treats you as an individual and not a number, he goes that extra mile to keep you updated and in the loop. He is so personable and pleasant to talk to and deal with. He does whats best for you as a customer, even cases as difficult as mine.

Leave answer phone messages, hear nothing back. Email them, get zero correspondence. I feel sorry for some landlords that want tenants but these lot don't seem to care at all.

in the past I've sold a house with connells Wednesbury which was brilliant and they put me in touch with a mortgage advisor at West brom who's name was Gregg stone again he was brilliant sorted me a great deal unfortunately Greg left Antoinette took over Due to my recent experience I wouldn't advise anyone to use there morgage advise services there's literally no communication and it's next to impossible to get anything sorted due to the amount of days Antoinette was having off work in the end I had to change morgage advisor but I already spent 600 pound for a service I never received feel like I've been robbed by connells for this so I will continue with a complaint but just thought I'd warn people save going through the same headache I did

Wouldn't have their mortgage advisors advice at this branch! Wasted 2 weeks worth of my time and messed us about.
Gave us an AIP then in the end withdrew the application on the day when we was going to apply for the mortgage, we were told no Connells branch would accept us due to wage slip descpenacies and have to go elsewhere. We had already put an offer down on a house also.
Due to the length of time this was taking we lost out on the house!
We ended up going to a mortgage broker instead and within a day they sorted us out with the best quotes for our mortgage and took us through the process. Within a week we got our mortgage in principle set! The mortgage brokers communicated effectively and effectiently, this is how it should be!

We put our house on the market in November 2020, knowing automatically that we would use Connells as have used Greg for a few years for mortgage advice. We called Dean who came out and gave us advice and valuation and within 2 weeks it was sold, Courtney completed an open house and was amazing throughout being go between with us the buyers and our solicitors. I realised just how good she was when I had a complete breakdown and cried at her desk one day with the stress of it all. She helped immensley just knowing there was someone on our side.
I have advised friends who are not selling and been on market for ages with Paul Carr to contact Dean.
My only thing I would say to anyone is choose your own solicitors as ones that Connells advised, Talbots, were awful.
Connells were simply brilliant. Truly nice people too.

Having never sold an house before, this was something that I was not really looking forward to. However I cannot heap enough praise, on the team of Dean Woodhouse manager, Scott and Courtney from this branch.
Operating under strange times, everything that Scott advised on his initial visit, ie costs, photography package, forwarding of documents, liaison with solicitors, viewing appointments was carried out faultlessly. Backed up by Courtney for viewings,and overall supervision by Dean Woodhouse.
Having never been in this position before, they always were happy to answer any questions and assist in any way possible. This always being done in a professional and friendly manner.
The sale was done in less than 8 days from going on the market. The photographic package, which I was originally reluctant to purchase at first, turned out to be beyond my wildest dreams and would certainly recommend.
After completion the back up service was superb.
What I was expecting to be a nightmare exercise on selling became a real smooth experience,that I wished I had never worried about in the first instance.
If I am ever in the situation of selling a property again, the first call would be to Dean and his team. Faultless start to finish.

I've had no problems so far with this agency; the service appears to be professional and efficient. For example, as I have been arranging to let a flat with them, all pre-let checks incl. the contract, have been satisfactorily dealt with and in good time. No small accomplishment these days, if you take into account all logistic issues with the current epidemics. I am due to move-in in about a week or so. Yesterday my Brother in law visited the West Bromwich branch to inquire about a letting, the member(s) wouldn’t let him in, instead preferring to conduct business outside the premises in the cold. My Brother in law is in his seventies and recently lost his wife my sister to cancer, he wanted a fresh start as he no longer wanted to stay in the house they shared for 44 years. With money in the bank, I suggested he visit Connells to talk about a property id seen online, my mistake he won’t be going anywhere near them again. What a way to treat a potential customer.
In conclusion if you decide to visit them make sure you have a coat, brolly, and a flask.

Been on look out for a property around West Bromwich , as moved from London to here , unfortunately circumstances changed and we had to look for a place to rent for now, found a property on Connells , and arranged a viewing same day , bare in mind it was Saturday (swift) . Property is brilliant and decided to place a HD. Got a call back on Monday , and secured it . Thursday same weeks keys were ready , although due to work collected them on Friday . It’s a pleasure working with Kelly and knowing how renting properties out works , hence all went smooth and in no time .

We are very grateful to Kelly for helping us rent a lovely house for all the family, including our dog. It's awful that dogs are almost uniformly excluded in rental agreements, and having Kelly go the extra mile to make sure pets were included in the agreement for a high quality let has meant a lot to us.

Helpful staff and polite it's always clean. Car park outside of connells which you do have to pay for even if you're disabled as it's a private car park.

Been with them for a year. All problems in the house sorted because we got in touch with landlord, agency didn't help much. I've moved out almost one month ago, still didn't get the deposit, although the landlord has no objections. High fees, luckily I heard that the law changed since June this year, so maybe that would not be a problem in the future. Don't recommend

Very professional service from beginning to end of the house selling process. We were kept in touch with what was happening throughout the months that the house was for sale but email and phone calls. We also had the agent do all the showings as the house was empty which was a great bonus, saving our time and travel. Would recommend them.

We used Connells as our letting agent when we moved out of our property in Dagger Lane, West Bromwich. The lady we dealt with was polite and responsive so we felt safe in her hands. She didn't stay with the company long though as they found us the worlds worst tenant who decided she didn't want to pay the rent so we started the eviction process. Connells strung us along with platitudes... "she is looking after the house well... keeping it spotless". When we finally evicted her the opposite was true - she had trashed the place and stolen the appliances! Connells gave us an inaccurate check out report which they never corrected and I had to do all the running around to make the insurance claims. Post eviction of the tenant I was made aware of the fact that Connells even showed people around the property to get a head start on a sale when they were not authorized to do so which is completely unacceptable as the property was in a terrible condition when the tenant vacated - clearly they didn't care about the value to me as a seller, just chasing a sale at any cost - if I could give them a zero star review I would.
UPDATE - Since I posted the original review I was contacted by the local branch and accused of slander. I have now made a formal complaint about this and shall also contact the Property Ombusman to ensure no one else has to suffer this "service" and the stress and aggravation this has caused me and my family.

Dean and the team at Connells were fantastic throughout the sale process. Very professional, polite and helpful. They organised open house for a quick sale, Dean was excellent on the day, very informative to the people viewing not just with info about the house but the local area also. We used the solicitors they recommended who were also excellent. Wouldnt hesitate to use them again.
