By far the worst estate agents I have ever dealt with, particularly Callum Dipple and Christopher Kirby. I have received little to no information from them despite paying a holding deposit. I consider their practices to be unprofessional and quite frankly unethical.

Callum & Ollie have assisted me with the letting of a new apartment in Birmingham. Apartment completed on the Friday, furnished on the Monday & tenant moved in on the Wednesday. Seamless, efficient service with them taking full control of the property from the developer at point of completion. I haven’t had to lift a finger. Great service.

I recently viewed a property with Sadé and although I ultimately decided not to proceed, I wanted to leave a review to acknowledge how professional and helpful she was throughout the process.
She was punctual, knowledgeable about the property, and transparent when answering my questions. She gave me space to look around properly without being pushy or intrusive, and made the whole viewing feel relaxed and straightforward. I would definitely use Connells again based on this experience!

My first introduction to Connells was via Ben Dawson from the Birmingham City Centre branch who visited me at my home to provide a valuation and to guide me through the next steps and stages of selling. As a first time seller, I had not had any experience of the process and before meeting Ben, I had intended to meet with several agencies before deciding which one to go with. Whilst meeting with me at my home, Ben was friendly, courteous, straightforward, and knowledgeable and because of this, I decided to choose Connells to handle my sale. During the selling process, Ben also followed up details of my sale several times and answered any questions that I had. I had a very disappointing experience with Connells Birmingham branch. The communication was inconsistent, and I often had to chase them for updates. Promised call-backs rarely happened.
They were happy to accept personal gifts when the deal was done the calls were ignored and un answered.
These are senior professionals in connells who I delt with.
They are not a buyers agency but a seller agency.
Never buy from them.
Sending emails with no basis from the selling company's behalf is not appropriate.

This agency is an absolute nightmare to deal with. We are students and they scammed us for £600. At first, they promised that we could secure accommodation by paying upfront. After taking our money, they suddenly changed their story and said we now needed a guarantor because they had a “better offer.”
Not only did they mislead us, but they also refused to refund our money when we asked. We have all the proof of payments and conversations to back this up.
Connells completely took advantage of students and left us without accommodation or our money. Their behavior is dishonest, unprofessional, and exploitative.
?? Avoid this agency at all costs. Trust is everything in housing, and Connells showed us they cannot be trusted.

I'm really impressed by the service I received from Callum. He literally rented my flat out within 24 hours. He said he thought he could find a tenant quickly but that was lightening fast! He even worked late to get everything done.

If there was anything less that one star I would give Connells. Everyone in this company is a professional liar, worst of them Callum whose aim is to intimidate clients.First of all Connells and their landlords do not manage their flats and they will tell you it’s not their duty to make sure their flat are fit for human habitation. The contract you sign is a joke and Connells encourage their landlords to act illegally. They rented me an apartment with a bed bug infestation, when I notified them they did nothing for days. Bed bugs bit my son and I had to spend £600 cleaning the filthy apartment, which the landlord left a mattress stained with urine in the second bedroom. I decided to break my tenancy early because I couldn’t take it anymore, and they still had the nerve to charge me almost a months rent, to make it worse they attempted to blame me for damages I didn’t cause in the house. The landlord also refused to refund me for cleaning the dirty apartment. Every apartment Connells manages is a dump. If you rent with Connells lawyer up.

It was advertised as furnished, when we went in it there was no furniture and was in shambles with heavy wear and tear. Basically uninhabitable.

An absolute hell of a renting experience! Honestly to them picking up the phone is just a suggestion. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! You immediately become a nuisance as soon as they take your holding deposit. The next time they call you is when they want to pry your rent from your fingers! I have never seen such rudeness from a company. First of all my holding deposit was taken, then they said the house I wanted to rent was not available at the date I wanted. When I asked for a refund, they didn’t give me, instead they didn’t pick my call until they forced another location on me. Then they provided me with a contract that was 100% unfavorable, when I asked for a break close they said I should sign first and then they would make an addendum. Till date the addendum wasn’t done! After collecting my rent then they no longer pick calls. Then when you come to pick up the keys NO ONE at the office is there and they don’t pick up your call, and no one apologized for the level of rudeness!
If you want to feel like a nuisance after paying your own money then go with this company! Otherwise I suggest martin and co or HAART. Avoid at all cost! 100% dishonest service

Connells provided one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any estate agent. The manager, Callum, was utterly useless — rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to do his job. When I came in with a serious issue that needed resolving, he made it blatantly clear he couldn’t care less.
His attitude was shocking for someone in a position of responsibility. No effort, no professionalism, no help whatsoever. It's clear this branch has no interest in actually supporting their customers — just taking their money and washing their hands of any responsibility.
Avoid this place at all costs. If you want to be ignored, disrespected, and treated like a nuisance, this is the branch for you. Otherwise, take your business somewhere else.

After selling many properties as a property developer in Leicester I can confirm this was the worst selling experience ever.
The staff at the shop answered the phone once in a five month conveyance and very rarely replied to my emails with no reply even when i ask for a copy of my contract on the day of completion 13/6/25 so i could give my solicitor authority to pay their commission invoice and I still haven’t received it.
They also have a habit of picking up the phone and immediately putting is straight down so you ring back and it goes to answer machine and then they never return your call.
Totally unprofessional.

I had a highly unprofessional experience with Connells. After being verbally assured a property was secured, I paid a holding deposit as requested. A few days later, I was abruptly informed the property had been given to someone else — without prior notice or any valid explanation.
This raises serious concerns regarding Connells’ compliance with the Tenant Fees Act 2019, particularly around how holding deposits are handled and how applicants are treated during the letting process. The lack of transparency and communication shows a disregard for professional standards and duty of care.
The process caused unnecessary stress and financial inconvenience. I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution and consider agents who demonstrate greater accountability and integrity.

Great experience, I contacted them for property rent, they took my information and asked logical question to identify my requirement, they helped me with viewing and regularly sent me the available property and the details on the email according to my budget.

Had the initial house viewing in 18th May 2024 and completing soon on the 1st November 2024.
Our advisor was Jack Speed but also had assistance from Harrison and Ross. Everyone was super helpful to us as first time buyers - they helped us with naive questions, arranged extra viewings and even looked into reducing the rates (as the economy improved and there was a rates battle with the banks).
They've been prompt with replies via email and phone. And Jack even did some work on a Saturday before he went on holiday which was greatly appreciated.
We paid for the lifetime broker fee and happy to do so. Would recommend

I cannot express strongly enough the disappointment and frustration we have experienced with Connells, specifically with their agent, Callum. From start to finish, this process has been plagued by poor service, unprofessional behavior, and outright deception.
First and foremost, Callum's communication—or lack thereof—was appalling. Repeated attempts to reach him via phone were ignored, and he never took the time to get back to us. When we finally managed to speak with him, his demeanor was rude, particularly toward my wife, which is completely unacceptable in any professional context.
One of the most disturbing issues we encountered was the dishonesty regarding our rental application. Callum falsely claimed to us that the landlord was unable to rent the property due to a family issue. However, we later discovered that he had inaccurately recorded in the agency's internal system that we had withdrawn our application. This deceitful action seemed to be an attempt to avoid processing the refund that was rightfully owed to us.
Due to this gross mismanagement and lack of transparency, my wife and I were forced to visit the agency's office three times, spending countless hours trying to rectify their errors. Even after all that effort, they were ignoring to pay back the deposit. The amount of time and energy wasted because of Callum’s incompetence has been nothing short of a massive headache, taking us away from our work and causing significant stress.
The service provided by Callum and Connells is, in my experience, the epitome of unprofessionalism. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I would strongly advise seeking out a more competent and ethical real estate agency. This experience has been one of the worst we've ever had, and I would not wish it on anyone else.

The WORST property agency I’ve ever dealt with – avoid at all costs!
From the day I paid all the fees, it became impossible to contact this agency. Once
they have your money, they disappear – no phone calls answered, no emails responded to, and no follow-up on any issues with the property.
From the very beginning, they refused to send us the inventory list. I lost count of how many times I requested it, only for them to finally send it a few days before my tenancy ended. When they did send it, they tried to point out all kinds of damages and issues that clearly predated my tenancy. It’s the landlord's responsibility to provide a thorough inventory to avoid false accusations, yet they acted as if everything was my fault. Luckily, I took my own photos and videos from the first day I moved in, which saved me from their baseless claims.
After my tenancy ended, the agency constantly raised new "issues" out of nowhere, despite there being no mention of these problems in previous communications. For example, after returning the second key to the branch and having it acknowledged by a colleague, they later tried to charge me for changing the locks without informing me or getting my consent. How can they raise this claim weeks after the issue was already resolved?
My tenancy ended in mid-August 2024, and as of 16th October, they still haven’t returned my deposit. It’s been two months, and this agency is still holding my money without reason.
Absolutely disgraceful service. I would NOT recommend them to anyone.

Too bad I have found out the comments after we have rent through this agency. All of them are right, the staff are extremely terrible.
Our main contact Nikita, have stood us up for property viewing And even on the move in date they promised, they changed the time to collect the keys 45 mins before the appointment. We have to collect the keys at 16:30pm on the same day and kept us waited for an hour before we can have the key the documents we needed. While we were waiting, Nikita don’t even bother walk out a check on us. She email us back in the office while we were sitting a waiting outside.
Even worse, after we collect the keys, the fob for maintenance is not even for the building, car park pass missing, mail box key missing and the flat is a complete mess. And went back to their office next day, and they say this is not their responsibility to check over on the flat, is their contractor! This is the fourth day for our move in, and we still can’t have them. We have chased them forever serval time, and they call us back a say this is not their responsibility as well! We have speak with our new neighbours, and they let us know the previous tenant have let different people lived in the flat before, so the flat inside is a completely mess. So, for both landlord and someone looking for place to rent. AVOID CONNELLS!!! They are never sorry for their poor management and none of these are their responsibility!!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of working with Connells Property Management, specifically the Birmingham Branch, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn future clients.
I bought the property and rent it out through Connells for more than 6 years. It took me too long to leave.
First and foremost, be wary of their tenant sourcing practices. The previous tenant vacated without paying their last month’s rent, and the current tenant has viewed timely rent payments as more of a suggestion than a requirement. There were multiple occasions of late payment, including two consecutive months of missed rent. If you’re looking for peace of mind regarding your income, this might not be the right choice for you.
Additionally, the quality of the inventory report was less than satisfactory. Many damages to the property were not documented, leading to a frustrating experience when attempting to resolve issues that should have been caught from the outset.
As for the key return process, it’s been a real adventure! The current tenant returned only one key, and after persistent follow-up over a month, I’m still left without the second key. Communication seemed to be a challenge for the local branch, and I’m still waiting on a resolution.

If I could Connells zero stars I would. Not only is it clearly company policy to rarely answer the phone in the office, I have twice been stood up by them when they have arranged a viewing at my property. On top of this, I was wondering why there was low interest in my property it turns out that they had listed it as ‘let agreed’. AVOID using these unprofessional thugs. Better going with more local agents as they are completely ridiculous and unprofessional agents. Full of liars in the company. I rented the property through them and never carried out mid term inspection as promised every 3 months whereas tenants was ruining the property. I told them will use my handy man and gas engineer but sent their one to make money.
Problem with them: every time different person calling or emailing that is difficult to recognise who are they? They never allocate one point of contact that made the mess and give stress to landlords. I have few properties and if receive the email from 20 different people for one property. Very bad service.
When try to leave then said 6 months notice require and issued that contract after finding the tenants and was not aware about this clause. In simple words, avoid them. They will be polite and do whatever you want until sign the contract. Once sign then you are in their pity
I already raised complaint to head office but no response and now complaint is with TPOS to review.
Please read their contract and try avoiding. Better put property on open rent and manage yourself.

If you have the misfortune of actually getting through on the phone (took me over 10 attempts each time) you will be greeted by rude staff without a care in the world
We were booked into a viewing but we couldn’t locate the agent anywhere, they were unreachable on the phone and made no effort to contact us to find out where we were.
Absolutely no flat is worth the hassle of this!! If it’s this hard to give them money I can only imagine what it’s like trying to report maintenance issues once you’re in.
I hope any landlord keen to let their property out goes with a different agency as these are in no rush!

Unfortunately, I have been constantly fobbed off and been given excuse, after excuse, as to why they cannot progress. We’ve been told initially that we will be assessed on a combined income basis where this is always the rule and once the background report returned they said we failed and they assesed on a combined income basis even though we met the requirements. When I had a word with them and once they escalated all of a sudden we’ve been approved. Also for 15 days they were liying about where the keys of the apartment are and they were saying that the key are around some neighbours. Zero communication and awful customer service. They re advertised the apartment without any notice and not even one apology.

I have been a landlord for 13 years. My first time with Connells. I must say the worst experience and company I have ever dealt with.
Incompetent staff and multiple departments dealing with one place. Can never talk to anyone, they never pick up the phone.
Have to chase multiple times via email to get a single response.
I’ve never had a late payment, since I went with them, I’ve hardly had any on time. Suppose to put in professional tenants, but instead put in any riff raff who trashed the place.
They never picked up on this in the 6 month review. When I went in 2 weeks after to do the repairs, I couldn’t believe the state of the place in 6 months.
How could they miss this!!
Called compliance twice on them, but still the same dismal service. So really no point in adding a response saying please contact us as I already have twice.
I’ve had to issue a section 21 which again I’ve never had to do, only to find out that despite stating I want the deposit to be with the DPS, they moved them in on zero deposit. So potentially 2 legal cases now.
I should have paid more attention to the other reviews.
Callum has been ccd in emails and never responds.
A girl called Paige Hensby was suppose to manage the place. She told me there was a leak and then I heard nothing for 6 days despite chasing this as urgent. I mean there’s a leak in my place.
Only to find out she left and it was never handed over.
Tegan was just as useless. Inexperienced and clueless.
I’ve had 4 different people supposedly manage the place in less than a year.
The arrears department hardly ever respond. Useless at every turn.
An absolute horror show! No idea how they still operate.
Do yourselves a favour and use James Laurence or Martin and Co instead. I’ve given my other places to them and not ever had a single issue.

Over “two and a half years” ago, I paid a holding deposit to Connells in Birmingham City Centre for renting a flat. They initially asked for my card details directly, which was concerning. When I refused, they provided a link for payment. Despite paying the deposit, I was informed days before my move that the flat was no longer available. And my deposit has not been returned since then!!, and my emails have gone unanswered. Moreover, I was dismissed when I visited the agency in person. This distressing experience has shown me their lack of integrity and poor customer service. I strongly advise against doing business with this agency.

We used to rent our city centre apartment with them. Most of the time they've been very good, helping sort out little crises with maintenance on the apartment, but recently the service has been a bit average. We informed them we were selling our house and moving into our flat to live, but we still got unpleasant reminders to become licenced landlords with Birmingham city council "or else". As we told Connells we were no longer planning to rent out the flat, it was disappointing to continue to get the (?threats) / ? reminders.
Today we travelled into the city to inspect the flat only to find they have misplaced the keys, and only remember retrieving one (of 2) sets of keys from the last tenants.

The Connells agent who was supposed to assist me ceased communicating and attempted to convince me that I had overstepped by reaching out to her via WhatsApp on her personal phone number.
It's important to mention that she made initial contact via whatsapp on her personal phone number, and would message me outside working hours without setting any communication boundaries (I did not know this was her personal phone number)
Furthermore, this same agent had made promises to provide me with videos but ultimately didn't follow through, and ignored my emails.
If you're looking for a similar experience, I would advise considering their services.

Connells is my first priority when they provided good service 2 years ago. Joe Fletcher & Aisha performed very good in communication. However, when I contacted them in June this year, they have changed team members and services are extremely bad. Service fees have been deducted from the tenant’s 1st month rental fee but service are very bad. Arranged Check-out inventory showing only the cleanliness but nothing else for your inventory itself, tracing Connells about the inventory itself but never had replies. They recommended a cleaning company, we paid and that’s all. Nothing can show they have completed the cleaning work, and no receipt for it, tracing with Connells but never got any replies.

Aisha was our agent and she was amazing, very professional and whatever questions we had she was always polite and knowledgeable. This is an update after 2 years of renting with Connells. Aisha left Connells shortly after renting our flat, not that that this should matter, everything was going well till they skipped the 6 months property check which we paid for (it was fully managed by Connells). Every time you call them, they ask your name and then they say that the person you need to talk is not in the office and you wait and wait till you have to contact them again as they rarely call you back. Finally we opt out of the fully managed plan last year and after 6 months (which Connells requested as notice period) it came to an end and we made new arrangements for the payment. On the 22nd of April we went to their office in Birmingham (we live in London) and asked them to send us a written confirmation that the rental collection is finished and also we requested on the tenant's behalf that she should receive a copy of the rolling contract. The lady in the office took our details and said that it would be dealt with it immediately. Two weeks just past and we didn't hear from them but we received a letter saying that they didn't receive the payment from the tenant. Is just puzzling how this company still function. They are very nice and helpful if is to take your money, otherwise they are absolutely useless.

They have a kind, hearted and professional staff called Luca. He is the only reason why I decide to waste 20 minutes to write this review.
During a property inquiry recently, Luca said there were already many viewings booked so he smartly advised me to place a holding fee to secure a viewing. The last time I paid a holding fee to a property agent, it turned out that the property was very different from what it looked online and I had to give up my holding fee in the end. I was alerted this time, so I turned down Luca's advice. As a result, Luca and his colleagues could not have a free lunch with my holding fee that day. After that, though we still managed to book a time slot Luca's emails became shorter and I knew my stingy attitude had hurted him. I should place the holding fee to make everyone happier, lesson learned!
Just hours before the planned time on the viewing day, I received an email from Luca with only a link. It was a link to another property presented by them in the same region, no more explanation. All of a sudden, it made me confused. Goodness me, somehow I found out what he wanted to say very quickly! I checked on their websites, the original property was already let so my viewing was cancelled. Luca did not want to let me down. Instead of telling me the viewing was cancelled, he immediately led me to another property in the same region. I was moved after realising his endeavour, thank you Luca! Overall it was a good decode challenge made by Luca to train my brain, purely appreciated! Unfortunately I got a bit tired that day after overloading my brain for that challenge, so I chose to take a break.
I might come back to update this review if I get better experiences in the future. For now, 2 stars are appropriate.

Special thanks to Dori. Who was professional at her job. Dealing with the letting negotiator was not easy. Lack of communication was the reason why I was disheartened, from using this agent again. 4/10.

Worst service ever, i have seen there ad their move in date was 17 sept 2022 i submit my initial booking amount £161 on 15 september, when i came from abroad they said no its not ready yet someone is already living in that apartment and will move in 4 days, after that their estate agent Terri Ann and branch manager told me you have to submit guarantor's Employement contract, pay slips, source of income, financial statements, passport, and also they told me to fill homelet's forms, i did it on time, then they asked for guarantors employers details and we gave them, Now today on 30 Sept 2022 Terri and Branch Manager told me your referencing in not done so if you pay extra £800 to landlord then she can let you in otherwise they will move with another party and we will not able to return your initial deposit, but they didn't tell me this during whole process, and i'm living in Hotel from 12 days bcz i dont have anywhere to stay, they are very cheap and unprofessional,

the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with.
have had to approach a solicitor to get answers from them.
they failed to comply with the agreement about getting the contract on time.
they use teenagers as employees and that's one of the worst things to deal with. they chase you by phone calls, email, even WhatsApp till they get the holding fee. then they just disappear and you turn chasing them for an answer.
Dori, Shennay and other teenagers working in Birmingham's office have no clue how serious is for someone to get a place to stay. Being rude and having at least a ridiculous behaviour!
they won't give you an update and whenever and IF you catch them on phone they say 'I was about to do it now'. this company is just a JOKE

Connells have managed property for me for almost a year now and I've always found them professional, efficient, and helpful. I would happily recommend them to anyone looking to rent out property in B5 central without the hassle of doing it yourself. Connells at Birmingham City branch has great letting Team specially Joe Fletcher & Dori. Joe has been excellent right from the start of Marketing property and then to carry all paperwork/technical/Legal Stuff. Joe has been friendly & efficient answering all my queries regarding Gas safety checks/co-ordination with tenant etc even when I was abroad holidaying so great service.

My pregnant girlfriend has now been hospitalised twice due to the stress that this agency and mainly Joe has caused her, and has injured herself in the unsafe property, we will be taking legal action. I urge you not to use Connells.
I would also ask you to look past the 5* reviews about Joe and Terri in-particular, these are fake reviews by their friends due to receiving so many poor reviews. Joe and other employee's have even left reviews themselves, see Joe Fletcher's review - 5*'s for example! This is not glassdoor, employee's should not be leaving reviews about themselves and this is a conflict of interest and against Google's guidelines.
Firstly Joe is a bare faced liar, he is patronising and is rude at viewing stage, rushing you around the properties with the excuse that he has a clashing viewing and has to go, in my view to make sure you don't spot the maintenance that needs doing, leaks etc, that he later claims he informed you about and you were fine with it (yeah right!), he then hands over to Terri who ignores emails and also lies about the condition of the property.
We are still waiting for all the works that were promised to be completed before move in and further problems that have happened since... 6 months down the line!
Connells and their staffs rude attitude are making my pregnant partner extremely unwell and when calling the agency to complain, Joe and Terri lied to the person that took our complaint and made up a story up about my girlfriend so it looked like they had done nothing wrong and somehow she was in the wrong. I am now having to deal with a deeply depressed girlfriend, which is worrying as could harm the pregnancy, also living in an apartment that needs ongoing maintenance and nothing is being done causing further stress.
We saw a house that we wanted to buy last week but decided against putting an offer in because guess who the agency is... yes that is right.. Connells.
AVOID this agency.

The last thing has been Ms Paige Hensby serving me a section 21 notice several weeks after I've complained about a leaky shower (but there's so much more to this story, including the mystery of a leakage report from the managing company of the building, and the odyssey of them erroneously switching my electricity supplier without my consent! -- get ready for this great epos of poor communication, dearth of efficiency, and a veritable treasury of dishonesty, to come in a few weeks!).

Worst experience I have ever experienced when dealing with an Estate Agent, the staff are offensive, dishonest and extremely disrespectful. After dealing with Joe, Dori, Terri, and Shennay and being given conflicting information by each of them all ultimately blaming each other for the continuous mess ups, I am happy to say I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Once they get the money in they don't care about the Landlord or the Tenant. It has been painful and I have lost money and what could have been a good business relationship but I am happy to say I will never be using Connells again... unless they get some new staff!!

One of the worst experiences i have ever had. Got my keys from them after 5 days that too they had lost my keys on the day i was to collect it and was left waiting outside the flat gor 5 hours, had to barge into the office to then get the keys after 15 mins. The apartment that i had agreed to was completely different to what i had agreed to let. Due to which they agreed to return my deposit and rent. 2 months on i am still waiting for my refund. Have chased them over and over again to have no response. I would say be very careful before Letting with them with the expectation of not getting the deposit back.

If I could put more stars, I would! Honestly, from start to finish I cannot thank the staff I have dealt with at Connells enough. From initial enquiry, which was dealt with within a day, viewing arranged asap to suit me, videos and information sent whilst I was waiting for the in person viewing, very knowledgable, friendly and professional viewing. Staff even went out their way to find further information for me ( I needed parking as close as possible), staff always happy to answer any questions, great advice, friendly and not robotic approach. I have to award Joe Fletcher and his team five stars for outstanding service. The specific property transaction was somewhat perculiar in its complexity, and with the added burden of a tight timescale, had every chance of falling through at the last minute.
However, Joe did not allow that to happen. Whilst most managers would delegate the admin to staff, Joe himself (the myth, the man, the legend) got stuck into the detail, communicating swiftly and frequently with me, even after office hours.
Joe and his teams professionalism and dedication throughout the process was absolutely fantastic. Not only was everything done with thoroughness, but with a personable and friendly approach, even to the point of Joe himself, stepping outside of his offices to guide me into their location.
I would heartily endorse and strongly recommend Connells Birmingham to manage all aspects of the sale, rental or purchase of your property.

Absolute legends and masters in their realm. Availed the services (Mortgage and Property consultancy) offered by Connells and was not disappointed one iota. The Trio of Annabel, Neelam and Rebecca are certified legends. They were responsive every step of the way, emails were answered faster than bots, with genuine advise given all throughout the process. Furthermore, reasonable with prices, 'Jedi' level of expertise was seen.
For context: I got a shared ownership property, with mortgage (at some pretty low interest rates) and I cannot fathom going through the whole process without the help of Connells (especially the trio of Annabel, Neelam and Rebecca)

In my opinion, not the best agency to have your property listed with. They haven’t released my tenant’s deposit even though I have filled out the paperwork needed.
I had problems with them when I listed my property last year - they gave me a rental price and then failed to achieve it. My tenant had a poor service from them. I personally would not recommend to list your property with them.

Great experience with Connells at all points of the flat buying process. Helpful and efficient throughout, from arranging a first viewing appointment all the way through to getting a mortgage offer. In particular I received excellent support and service from their Mortgage Services Consultant, Jack Speed who was always very attentive to my needs, swift in response and happy to answer any questions I had, as well as doing an excellent job navigating difficulties with potential mortgage providers. Buying a place is a complicated and drawn out process but Jack and the rest of the Connells team made it as painless as it could possibly be. Can't recommend them enough.

As a landlord looking for a new tenant for a property in Birmingham, I had a very positive experience with the rental team at Connells. Both agents I dealt with, Dori and Terri-Ann, were extremely professional and competent. I was happy with the valuation of the property and estimation of the rent I received, and in less than 2 weeks I had a signed agreement and a tenant moving in my property, thanks to all their efforts and hard work. I was also happy with the tenant that the Connells team identified, and with all the assistance provided, to both tenant and myself, in dealing with all the aspects relevant for the tenancy to start. Dori and Terri-Ann have always been available to share information and answer questions, with courtesy and professionality. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the service I received, and I based on my experience, I would definitely recommend this agency for renting a property.

I was booked in to see an apartment at 17:00 and received confirmation in the morning that the viewing was still on. We arrived at the property and sat outside for half an hour with no word from the letting agents after which, we phoned the letting agents who let us know the person who was supposed to show us round was currently in a viewing with another prospective tenant so we continued to wait. After another 30 minutes however, we had still received no further information about what was happening and when we attempted to contact the letting agents again there was no response it was an entirely unprofessional experience and my partner and I will be avoiding this agency in the future.

Enquired about apartments that are on rent. Viewed the property with Ella. After viewing both properties on Tuesday, I decided I would come back on the Wednesday at 3pm with all documentation and finalise everything.
Ella was super professional when showing the apartments, however things took a turn. I have been messaging her over the past 2 days requesting some information. Unfortunately no contact back. Having looked on the website, the apartments have now been snatched up, I can appreciate the apartments would have gone super fast, however communication would have been great. Even if the apartments have been secured from someone, Ella could have still informed me and maybe even tried to find me another place.
Would I use connells again? I don’t think so. On the search again for the perfect property, definitely going elsewhere.
Must be the younger generation, customer service is clearly not at the top of Connells list.

They are inefficient and don't respond. You have to chase them time and again for anything related to the property. No one takes ownership for any work related to the property. I have been requesting for a copy of the FOB for the apartment rented out to us which was never provided from the beginning. Its a year and a half and I keep getting passed on to different people at Connells. Alot of their staff have left or changed positions and then I need to chase another new person at Connells, to then only be told to speak to someone else.

Very bad experience with Connells Birmingham, disrespectful and offensive service, with all three agents Dori, Terri, and Shennay. They only do the fast work so they get their money, but as a landlord they mess up with your money and just don't care. Bad communication and wrong information, they made me chase them to ask why my money still did not sent to my bank, and every time I have different answer, with the excuse of the 2 days bank holidays. First Terri let me sign a contract with a tenant, before the tenant paid she removed my flat from the market, then the tenant did not proceed with the rent, which result in wasting time to find another tenant, adding to that chasing her in e-mails and she kept ignoring me, until I've sent a message to Dori to let her answer or I made a complaint, after a lot of arguments through e-mail as I am abroad, they put my flat on the market again, when I signed another contract with another tenants, the tenants lived for 13 days now, and I still did not get my money. and I had to chase them to ask why I haven't receive my money yet, Shennay said it will take 5 days, after 5 days I asked again and she ignored me, so I asked Dori again, she said it takes 5-10 days and there was bank holiday, and she promised that at end of tomorrow I will receive it, I told her that will be Saturday, she confirmed that I will receive it on Saturday, and I didn't, and still did not get it. I don't know what they do with our money for all these days, money bank transfer takes from 2 hours to 3 days, whether one or both of them "gambling" with our money in stock before they give them back to us, or just carelessness or any other reason is not acceptable, tenants pay early, even if not early, since the agency got our money, it's unfair they take their share and let me wait all this long. Shame on a big agency like this.

I was selling one of my properties in Birmingham. I had listed the flat and initially I did not have a great experience as the person I had initially dealt with started off very enthusiastic but failed to provide any communication to me and I had to keep ringing them instead of them ringing me. I dropped the price of my property which I think always increases the number of people interested.
Olivia Williams was the person who stood out when I was dealing with everyone. She responded to my phone calls, emails and kept me in the loop regarding what potential buyers thought and who would be the most reliable buyer. She also physically went to the buyer's house and confirmed all the identity checks and funds personally then phoned me to say it had been done.
I think the thing that make Olivia stand out was that she took responsibility for the sale and personal responsibility for all communications with me.
I think the important character trait I saw was that if Olivia said she was going to do something, she would confirm that it was done either by email of phone call. I didn't have to wonder whether the task or job had been left up in the air. I don't like loose ends.
As a property investor, portfolio landlord and busy surgeon, I am receiving information constantly regarding so many things. I think it's important that I am not chasing people but they are coming back to me even if the news in not what I want to hear! At least I know where I stand.
Amber was another person did the viewings of my property so I don't want to miss her out.
It's easy to start enthusiastically, but to succeed in property, it's important to have persistence, determination and complete detailed communication which will always be inconvenient to the either the agent or vendor or buyer. However, Olivia took responsibility of the situation and that's why I gave her a 5 star review.

We have been waiting for our refund for nearly 2 months now, every time I call they all make up a lie saying "Your refund is being processed and will be with you in no more than 7 working days". Someone needs to sort this out ASAP. I've been very patient and want others in the same situation as myself to be reimbursed immediately.

I had been looking for a flat for a few months and lost all hope in finding one in time before going back to university.
I phoned Connell's to ask about a flat I had found and was told it had already gone. I was gutted so, on a whim I asked of they had anything else available and they listened to what i was looking for and they did have somewhere. It took a few weeks for the whole process to be complete but it was professional, smooth and we have moved in successfully. Leon dealt with most of the process for us and was amazing, couldn't fault him, and I am very grateful for his help.

She not only helped us to submit the application of the flat we want, but also filtered some possible flats that allows us to move in quickly and submitted as well. I worked with Dori Dervenkar at Connells Birmingham. She was beyond helpful and made this process painless. As an American who does not have the standard UK information (I didn't even have a UK functional phone at the time) she was able to problem solve and create work arounds so I my information was approved in a timely manner. Due to scheduling she was able to move up my move in date - saving me time and money on moving expenses. She was very responsive and listened to all my needs. Due to my circumstances of only having WIFI iPhone calling she would FaceTime call/text and email me in a timely manner and she would explain the process and steps throughly - well to be honest she walked me through the whole thing.
She showed me properties (online only) in a great safe area. I didn't even see the unit due to COVID and am I very happy with where I am currently located. I saw it via video and it just has she presented it. She is upfront and honest with all questions asked. Her service was amazing and even though I came with a lot of challenges (no UK history, no phone, my banking wasn't set up in the UK etc), she kept calm and kept me calm and answered all my questions and provided me with the best service. Before I moved in she checked the property to see if it was clean and up to standards and even left a little gift. She is an absolute wonder to work with. I highly recommend using Dori as your agent.

After Oliver H confirmed a move in date for us he failed to inform us that the flat had not been electrically tested and had maintenance issues still to be dealt with, resulting in our arrival at the city centre office with a full moving van, being told we could not move in.
Joe F however dealt with the matter brilliantly and within three hours managed to have the tests completed and spoke to the landlord enabling us to move in on the the same day with the promise that the maintenance would be dealt with once we had moved in.
Unfortunately it's now been a month and we still have a broken fridge with a beeping noise that wakes us up throughout the night every night without fail, questionable heavy staining still on the sofas and chairs, broken and dirty furnishings, and now an oven that no longer works (to name a few things). Questions are left unanswered, and problems go unsolved for however long (we still have no confirmation of when maintenance will take place) and not for lack of trying on our behalf.

I think it is by far one of the worst lettings agencies in England.
I called a few days ago because I was interested in one of the flats they had on the market, they offered me a day and time for a viewing, I asked them to please send me a confirmation email and for some strange reason they do not do this as they say they will make a call on the day of the viewing as a form of confirmation (I do not understand how difficult it is for them to send an email).
A day before the visit they call us to confirm the date and time of the visit, we go to the place to see the flat (more than 3 hours driving from my current residence) and when we are there no agent appears, I decide to call the number where I previously received the call and they tell me that they have no record of the visit or my profile (if they have no record, how did they know my number to call me the day before?) they then offered me to call back in a few days and they would give me an answer, wasting my time and money in an absurd way, the professionalism and respect of their agents is non-existent.
Honestly, if you want to waste your time and feel ripped off, this is the best agency to go to.

They initially valued my property at a higher price and later said that given the market, I should price it down; which I did. They also initially told me that they have lots of interest for the development but as soon as we went on the market with them, they started ghosting me. Within a couple of weeks of being on the market with them they asked me to further lower the price because they would then be able to sell. And although they would lower the price, they said that the fee they will charge will be based on the initial asking price. During the entire sole agency period, I was only able to get in touch with them a couple of times, and even that after continuous phone calls. They did not communicate with me or brought in any of that initial interest that they had mentioned.
So, overall I would not recommend Connells to anyone.
They lie and lure you in to market the property with them.
Once you get tied in, they do not communicate with you, do not even return calls.
They also value your property at a higher price so that they can charge you a higher fee, and as soon as you market with them they start recommending that you lower the price.
At least with regards to selling a property, I would suggest that anyone stays away from Connells.

Never had I such a bad experience with Connells, when I let my property out I asked specifically what I need to do to get it looking good for perspective tenants they said it’s fine the way it is, which is a lie.
They found two tenants and (DSS) and assured me they are better ones and you will get guaranteed income which was a lie, when I had problems when the tenants did not pay they staff at the Birmingham branch were useless and really rude to me and at times, hanged the phone on me. All I wanted was answers and updates and had to take matters to my own hands and find a solicitor to evict tenants when staff at Connells were giving me conflicting information.
I’m with another estate agent who are excellent and really helpful and even they were disgusted in the way I was been treated . Connells didn’t even try to get my deposit back. I was treated with disrespect, even when I put the phone on loudspeaker so a rival estate agent could hear Connells pathetic excuse for been unable to retrieve my despiser back. The rival estate agent was flabbergasted at what he heard and when he attempted to interject and speak to the person this person was absolutely rude to him.
Name and shame the staff that work there, Natalie, Ellie, William etc..
Never recommend Connells to anyone avoid them like the plague

I recently asked to view a property and they reached out through WhatsApp with a video of the property. I immediately asked if I can arrange to view the property to which Oliver Harrison did not respond. I enquired twice more to which my messages were read with no response. Four days later I get a message saying the property is unavailable and the reason I didn’t get a response is due to Oliver being sick- mind you, he responded to all my questions on Monday until I asked to view the property. I would steer clear off Connells as this experience alone has put me off properties with this agency.

So they ring me.
I ask them not to contact me about other properties or services than that one property.
I hear nothing at all about the property again.
So I get a call from their letting dept asking if I want to let a property.
I then start getting emails with properties.
All the manager can find to say is they'll take my details off. Nothing about how his staff just ignore what you ask for.
You might possibly get a good service from Connells if you happen to want what they feel like doing.
But don't ask them for anything.

Had three viewings and they cancelled two, travelled all the way down to Birmingham from Sheffield, payed 40 pounds for a hotel only to be stood outside the property waiting for agent be told over the phone that the viewing was cancelled due to a car being broken down and that they had absolutely no one else who could do it and there was no one in on the Saturday despite the office being open. Absolutely ridiculous and won't ever use again.

Hello I just came from a book view who I should to have 20 minutes ago...my wife called 3 days ago to booking a view everything good ,today she called 2 different people to give us the number definitely they give the wrong number 22 was 59, they send us at this house and when we was there this guy told us we can't go inside because my name is not on the list...So the office is for nothing, I don't know what they do, the worst agency who I see. I want it to put less than 1 star but I can't.Btw today 25 07 19 / 31°° degrees and I'm with my wife and my daughter she has 1 month.GOOD JOB CONNELS ESTATE AGENTS. If you need my help in the future give me a e-mail I show you what you need to do to have a good agency. Peace.

Nice team and a great place to work in and definitely to be served. My experience with Connells wasn't great so far, so I didn't rate the other branches, so I had low expectations to go here, but me and my wife we said let's give it a go, why not and in the end we have been impressed, and that's not always easy after you worked even for the royal family. We are a simple and young couple, walking around in t-shirts, but yesterday we met Luke, this guy was amazing and brought us from not wanting to go in your agency to wanting to sign the deal with him yesterday. If any manager can read this please give him an extra day off or a bonus, as he deserved it. He was the first one so far not looking at us down, just because our budget wasn't the best or because we were not wearing expensive clothes. Because of him you got 5 stars and definitely we will go back to him.

The worst estate agents I have ever dealt with. Rude over the phone, do not want to help you at all. Have lied about contract multiple times to benefit themselves. Didn’t apologise when they got caught out. Hannah who works there customer service is appalling, speaks disgustingly over phone. They have no idea what’s going on at all!

One of the worst agencies I have encountered. Terrible service, not helpful at all. I booked a viewing and they called me when I was outside the house to cancel it. Unprofessional and very rude on the phone. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking to rent or buy.

Extremely poor customer service. I went for a viewing with these agents over the weekend. The estate agent never showed up. The staff on the phone were rude but said they would follow up and never did. I left after 30mins waiting outside the property in the cold and have yet to hear from them for an apology or another viewing date.

Brilliant service. Used Connells for the mortgage on our first home. Luke Taylor from the Birmingham branch was fantastic throughout the whole process. Made everything clear and easy and was quick to answer all of our many questions via phone or email. He even came down to the Stafford branch on a bank holiday to meet with us! He made a very daunting process so straight forward. Highly recommended!

Absolutely horrendous customer service, I travelled from Cheltenham to Birmingham to view an apartment as I have a urgent requirement to move. Turned up to view the property without being told the apartment had been let and was then told I should check my voicemails and see it's my own fault. I check and no message on voicemail. Absolute jokers
