???? AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Terrible agency with shockingly poor standards. Especially awful were Belinda and Nicki, whose dismissive attitude and lack of basic professionalism made every interaction a headache.
They always side with the landlord, no matter how unreasonable, leaving tenants completely unprotected.
They don’t care about tenant well-being — only about keeping the landlord happy (and the money flowing).
Their main goal is to milk you to the last drop, with no genuine interest in fair treatment or resolving issues.
???? ESPECIALLY AVOID GIARDINO APARTMENTS
During my 3 years there, here’s just a small number of issues I had to deal with:
Cracked window (toughened glass) — they tried to blame me for it, then stalled the repair for months.
Broken front door latch, bins door constantly broken, which tenants (including me) ended up repairing ourselves multiple times.
Ant infestation near the front door, completely ignored.
Old tree infested with aphids, leaving all the cars drenched in sticky honeydew all summer long.
The parking itself is illegal, which somehow doesn’t stop them from shamelessly advertising it as “parking on premises.”
And of course — the inevitable fight to claw back our own deposit, despite leaving the flat in excellent condition.
???? BOTTOM LINE:
I wouldn’t come near Ellis & Co with a 10-foot pole. Do yourself a favour and steer clear — your sanity, safety, and wallet will thank you.

Simply excellent all round. Nicki was efficient and transparent in every conversation we had during the offer process and the move-in was well organised.
Regarding quality of service, Neil helped me lift a mattress up 4 flights of stairs and little things like lights that needed replacing have been actioned immediately. This is a sizable, professional lettings agent that is run with the same amazing care level you'd expect from a small family-owned business.

Agent himself was very courteous and as helpful as he could have been within the constraints of the agency which is why I give him personally a 5 star. On one occasion having travelled 160 miles to get measurements and a better 'feel' of the property I was only allowed half an hour by his agency and felt under pressure. As a result I did not discover issues with the property which have arisen since the purchase such as leaking non functioning appliances. I would not use this agency myself although the individual agent was very obliging. I emphasis this is a personal 5*

During the entirety of this time, I have found every member of the team to have had the highest of professional standards, offering excellent advice on all aspects of the property market, being friendly, dealing with all matters promptly, being available at the other end of the phone or email, and generally making me feel like a valued individual. This team manages to strike that difficult balance of having the interests both of the landlord and tenants (and equally vendor and buyer) at heart. I would like to single out Mr Khalid Ghani who is at the helm of this branch and has created an excellent working ethos in this office. Khalid is highly experienced (and it shows!) and goes that extra mile in all aspects of his work - a great credit to his profession. I would unreservedly recommend Ellis & Co to anyone thinking of renting, selling or buying and am delighted to mention - as well as Khalid - Nicki, Belinda, Zsuzsanna, Neil and Matthew, all of whom work together as a very trustworthy and successful team. Rude, patronising, sarcastic and inflexible. Dealing with this agency has been a nightmare from start to finish during our almost 2 year tenancy, and was a reason we decided to move. Our new estate agents have been a dream in comparison and it shows that there can be nice estate agents out there. They made every issue we raised with our old flat seem like it was our fault, even when it was things that were completely out of our control like a collapsed roof. The agent who dealt with our check out process was rude and sarcastic at every opportunity and caused us a lot of stress. We are young professionals who paid our rent early every month and still had to put up with this. In my opinion, I would avoid this estate agent as far as possible as the stress caused was not worth it. I’m sharing my experience to avoid other people going through what we went through.

Review is for handling the sale of my flat.
I selected Khalid and his team to be my sole agent, I had over five valuations and he was the only one who told me what he thought the place was worth, justifying it very clearly. We agreed on a launch strategy and within five days we had competing offers and had been able to get within 2% of the asking price. The bookings were always prearranged with suitable targeted buyers.
That in itself would have been a five star service alone, but then the virus hit.
The true worth of an estate agent is known when the going gets though, due to delays created by the top of the chain, my buyer pulled out.
Khalid and Neil however were ready with a lined up potential fall back buyer, within a week we agreed a new sale at a slightly higher price.
Communications were excellent throughout, as things were getting tricky due to the virus, it would not be uncommon to find that Khalid had been working late in the day, updating me at eight pm if needed (it was my preference to be contacted anytime).
Whilst I hope not to be needing to sell again anytime soon, I would choose to use them again.

I've had some dodgy experiences with agents previously not being completely honest or transparent. At Ellis & Co., Khalid and Nicki were both completely open from the very beginning, having frank discussions about the best options for my property. When I made the decision to rent, they got everything moving extremely quickly, from advertising and checks, through to viewings (which they worked to be convenient for me) and signing the contracts. Whenever I need to contact someone at the branch, I will get a reply the same day, or at the very latest the next day. If any issues are raised by the tenant, the first port of call for the Ellis team is to go in and sort it out themselves, rather than just calling someone in and charging you. I feel really secure having them manage my property.

I would recommend being especially careful with the information in the inventory report and take proof of pictures on entering the property. Ellis & Co are the only letting agent in 12 years of renting that has taken money out of my deposit.

Isn't it a shame with all the competition of North London letting agents, Ellis & Co are the most rude and unhelpful out there. Luckily, I'm only trying to rent a property and not using them as an agent for my own house. I can't imagine how bad their service is for that and I'd be horrified as a landlord about how they speak to potential clients. The staff are generally unhelpful, curt and short on the phone and are useless at getting in touch with you. This is enough to put me off renting through them, I can only imagine how long they'd keep you waiting to return your call if you had a real emergency as a tenant!

All Khalid's advice was spot-on; he found three buyers for my late mother's house within three days of marketing, negociated a better price than we had expected and advised us how to push for exchange when the buyer started to procrastinate. Terrible service, no contact or contract for a week after moving in. When I've found out that I have very laud venue behind the wall and went to get my contact I was told than no one can help me until my agents come back in afternoon. When I tried to insist and explain I was cut off and owner told me to get out.
I will never again be tricked by "no power" when watching a flat.

Completed a purchase for a flat in Finchley in April 2017, primarily dealing with Chris. As a first time buyer there were obvious uncertainties on my side, but Chris was patient and had a good understanding of the process which was very helpful. Khalid was also good to deal with and to the point (given his experience).
Overall experience with Ellis was positive. As a feedback point, I would have appreciated more active and clearer communication but this can be easily improved.

Anyone contemplating using Ellis & Co Finchley for rental and lettings should have no hesitation - they are highly recommended. There was no second thought from us in asking Ellis & Co in Finchley to act as the estate agents when renting my property. Over the last three years, I have found the team (headed by Mr Khalid Ghani) of Khalid, Nicki and Belinda to be thoroughly professional, accessible and - most importantly - offering a wealth of experience together with sensible, practical advice. I spoke to several estate agents in Finchley before choosing Khalid at Ellis & Co to sell my flat. I picked him not just because of the price and commission both of which were very competitive but also because of his attitude and approach. He was incredibly helpful and understanding and indeed patient. He is very experienced so is not fazed by anything - something I found very reassuring. He was also prepared to go the extra mile, helping out on a number of things which he really didn't have to. I couldn't recommend him more highly. I am not planning to move for some time but would happily use his services again - not something I have ever said about any other estate agent.

"Results Not Promises", proclaims the sign outside Ellis and Co Finchley. It's been there a while. I knew that in this case, there is indeed truth in advertising, because Khalid, Ellis & Co's owner, sold me my first ever little flat in Finchley way back in 1997 (for £59,999; how times change), when he was Senior Negotiator, and subsequently let it out short-term when I needed it.
Fast forward to the end of 2014 and I came up with the mad idea of selling my flat, and buying somewhere smaller, outright, with the profit.
There was only one man I was going to count on for this life-changing mission. With his trademark grin, Khalid agreed that it was so crazy, it just might work.
No sales talk. No daft promises. Just realism, solid advice, and easily the most professional set-up I have encountered on my property selling/buying journey. I had spoken to all of the major estate agents in the area and with all due respect to them - some are excellent, others less so - none of even the very best could match Ellis and Co. All I was hearing was the usual sales talk: you need to sell before the election; criticising other agents; we can get XYZ money for your flat. One shoulder pad-wearing shyster even got my name wrong.
And so it began. As you'll no doubt be aware, selling a leasehold flat in England is one of the three major life stressors (bereavement and divorce being the others). Unfortunately, this sale was even more complicated and stressful due to lease changes, involving freeholders and other solicitors.
It ended up being utterly horrendous; our buyer pulled out on contract exchange day, leaving me with debts incurred due to legal fees. I was close to walking away, wondering how I was going to pay off my incurred legal fees.
However, I knew that I had the right agent, and Khalid - together with Hiran and Steve - provided the ultimate in professionalism, humour, calm and sound advice to navigate the storm.
Not once did I ever doubt that Khalid, the man I've referred to as "The Jedi Master of Estate Agents" would come good.
Things became even more difficult once Khalid found another buyer, and I was doubtful all the way up to exchange but once again, I was given very sound advice, which helped to keep me composed enough to see everything through. Of course, I was helped by a very good solicitor; but Khalid was in many ways the liaison between me and my buyer; the point of the spear.
When we finally exchanged, as is often the way in long, difficult and stressful experiences, there was very little euphoria, but in the moments after exchange and completion, and as my new-found freedom sinks in, I feel hugely appreciative towards Khalid and his team; it really was a genuine pleasure to pay their commission, and to bring them a bottle of fizz and some chocolates after.
Though I have found a flat via another agent, Khalid still to this day has offered me his advice on anything to do with the purchase. As my friends have said (it got to the point during this 10 month experience that they were asking after Khalid when I spoke to them), it shows that although Khalid is a highly astute businessman, he also a geniunely very kind, pleasant and decent man.
If there comes a time when I have to sell or if I choose to let out my new flat, even though it's out of Ellis & Co's catchment area, I will insist on them handling my dealings.
Estate agents have a mixed (and often wrongly maligned) reputation; Ellis and Co Finchley are not a bunch of sales people - they are property professionals who unlike some agents WILL return your calls and emails, and WILL do what they say they are going to do. I have been on the end of what I can only describe as blatant lying by some agents, and it is staggering what a difference there can be in quality. So save time - call Ellis and Co in Finchley.
So in all, obviously I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this crack team of fantastic, knowledgable professionals and their charismatic leader; in fact, the only reason I'm giving them five stars is because I can't give them six. Terrific.
