I can’t rate Daniel highly enough. He moved us into a property over a weekend because he totally understood our situation. We’ve been in 3 months now and unfortunately our oven broke. We honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better, the issue was resolved within 5 working days. He wears his heart on his sleeve and you won’t find anyone better to deal with. Recently rented a property through Lancaster's and the service was absolutely abhorrent.
Were quick to get us in for a viewing and then proceed with the application but from then on any correspondence was at a bare minimum. Spent weeks chasing the letting agent (Daniel) for any answers, eventually finding out we'd got the property a few days before we planned to move. I have since found out that our landlord accepted us as soon as we applied and was having the same issues on his side and only found out we were moving into the property a day before we moved.
On moving, we were only given a front door key. Landlord claims he gave the back door key too but this was lost by the letting agents. The property is a let and forget, meaning that after we had moved, any repairs or issues would be dealt with by the landlord direct; though it took three and a half weeks of emailing, phoning and eventually threatening to go stand in the shop and cause a scene for me to be given my landlords details so I could speak to him direct. This is all after Daniel begged me to leave a good review online (so glad I left it until I was dealing with the landlord direct).
Overall a terrible service. I have worked in customer relations my entire working career and the service received was diabolical. Do thankful I now have to deal with the landlord and not Lancaster's direct anymore.
Proceed with caution.

Team were so helpful and anything that hasn’t been perfect has been fixed and I’m going off only being a tenant two weeks with them in the busiest time of the year! Really lovely team! Being in my early 20s and having a dog that I adore and people that questioned me about being able to rent with him but with Lancaster’s I found a perfect home not just for me but my furbaby because of these lovely letting agents who made it possible for me and my dog to sit back and relax in our home! Renting through Lancasters Penistone has been an extremely negative experience. The 1-star rating is an aggregate across the following categories:
Answering Questions: Frequently non-responsive to questions such as 'X is broken. Can you confirm whether this is the landlord's responsibility to repair?'
Customer Relations: They ask you to send emails which then go unanswered for weeks, in many cases months, often tell you 'Leave it with me' but then never follow up.
Timeliness of Repairs: 3+ weeks to fix an electric shower that had no hot water (in February), 7 months to even attempt scheduling a gas repair; being told other repairs will be done but somehow never are, and
Value for Money: see preceding comments.
Unlike many other letting agents these days, Lancasters Penistone do not have an online maintenance/repairs portal. They insist on you putting everything in writing, but rarely do so themselves. This adds to the disorganised and inconsistent communications: they might call you via WhatsApp, or you might get a missed call from the office landline but no one leaves a voicemail. Then you'll get a text from anonymous who tells you Lancasters gave them your contact info and can they come to look at the repair you requested on the inventory when you moved in 7 months ago.
I was hopeful things had improved under the new management, but it appears the initial good show was merely lip service. I could never have imagined how utterly demoralising trying to conduct business with this firm has been!

I’d just like to thank the staff at Lancasters, Daniel and Kieran for the help and support in finding a house to rent.
I went into the office on the off chance they had some houses to rent in the local area and Daniel discussed a property that was due to be available very soon.
The whole process has been painless and run extremely smoothly.
The house I have moved into has been redecorated from top to bottom, new carpets and a full deep clean.
The service has been nothing short of amazing.

Left us living in mouldy damp property, with bugs, beetles and worms coming from the attic. Lost lots of our furniture. Never found a proper solution while I lived there. Rent was £725. Would NEVER advise to rent a property from Lancasters again. Luckily moved out after a year but feel sorry for whoever took the property next.

Lancaster Estate Agents both the Barnsley Branch & the Penistone Branch acted very efficiently during the process of selling my property, nothing was too much trouble for all the staff I had dealings with.
Debbie, Julie, Adam & Pat are all a credit to the company & are all a valuable asset to Lancasters.
I would certainly use this Company again if the situation arose.
Anyone out there thinking of putting their property on the market please call Lancasters Estate Agents for a professional appraisal etc etc.

We were looking to purchase property in Penistone and at the time Lancaster’s seemed to have the lions share of properties available. We visited the agent in Penistone and told them of our requirements so they could contact us if anything that might be suitable was coming on the market. We did not have a property to sell and was looking to buy as soon as possible. Unfortunately we did not have any calls but kept looking on the website.
We eventually found a property and made an appointment for viewing, after the viewing we popped down to the branch to make an offer. This is where we thought the service was poor, the door was closed due to COVID even thought the sign in the window said appointments welcome, Debbie knew we had been to the view the property and came to the door and asked what we wanted? I said that we would like to make an offer thinking she might ask us in to discuss as we were wearing face masks as well. This did not happen even thought it was raining at the time, she asked us what the offer was in the street and said she would come back to us considering we were making a big purchase we felt we were not taken seriously. The offer we made was not enough but we made a higher offer and this was excepted. From this point we did not have any contact from this branch.
The next contact we made was to view another property the end of February as we were messed around with the property we were originally buying. Debbie took our call and was surprised that we wanted to view another property and asked why we were doing this, so this shows there was no contact during this process if there was things might of been different. We viewed the next property and purchased this and thankfully we have moved in and are happy.
But again the only contact we had in this purchase was the initial phone call of our offer and an email to say the offer was accepted. When we went to collect the keys we were again met on the pavement and handed the keys in the street, not invited into the branch. We felt underwhelmed at the welcome and service provided.
Considering purchasing a property is one of the most expensive purchases you make we felt we have had better and more friendlier service when having a meal at a local restaurant than we received from this branch.

4 Properties I have tried to view. No response from emails, phones always busy, you leave messages no one replies.
Final straw today, very rude lady... She finished her conversation with me by saying ' the long and short of it is that the landlord has found her own tenant so it was no longer available.
Do i want to rent from them???? I do not think so
Its a shame they have the monopoly on renting in the Penistone area, it would be such a lovely place to live.
