Where to start!!!
1- Cleanliness.
I was told on viewing that the flat would be cleaned and ready on move day (this was not the case) and even after I called and spoke to Louise regarding how dirty the property was, her reply was "I can assure you the flat was deep cleaned before I moved in" after spamming her is countless of emails with attached pics, she apologied and said it must have been missed.
2- Damp and black mould.
After being in the flat a few months I started to notice big parts of damp spreading over the walls in my bedroom and living room. I spoke to Louise who replied back saying I need to make sure I keep the heating on and my windows open (this was in winter) so the heating was on, but with this property only being fitted with electric heaters I was not going to leave the windows open when I took so much cost to heat the place. After I got a friend from the council to come and look, there was a lot of issues the company hadn't done which is why it was getting so bad.. again I went back to Louise and she ended up getting a company out who agreed with what the council said, and a air machine was installed.
3- Blocked in and access from property.
The entrance to my building was rou d the back of a restaurant which had a space for there car park, yet that said restaurant used to squeeze 2 cars in that space which ment the people in the flats got blocked in (I even had to claim over a car at 1 point to get out for work) pictures were taken and email sent to Louise... First response was that it is the restaurants space so nothing they can do, yet after going down the fire/risk road and telling them they have to make sure we as tenants are safe, it took them months to get a bollard drilled in the car park to stop them blocking us in.
4- Bond.
It took a week for them to do their final check around the flat after I moved out! I then received an email saying g they were happy and the bond money will be returned in full with the DPB link... I went on and requested my bond, a week later I chase up with Louise who apologied and said she did it... we are now 15days in since I moved out, called the DPB to find out that they are still waiting on the landlord to accept the bond request to be returned!!!
To some this up... this has been one of the worst Companies I've have to deal with, and the fact I'm still waiting on my bond returned is beyond a joke!

Everyone at Martin and Co have been incredible - extremely efficient, professional and very friendly. After some really unpleasant prior experiences with difficult unprofessional landlords, working with Martin and Co has been a dream - they have been so helpful from the very beginning with answering my many questions (and I had A LOT, as I was coming off of a really bad renting situation and landlord) and the whole process of renting has been easy, straightforward and clear. I've felt safe for the first time in a long time! Joseph and Louis have been amazing from the very beginning. They first helped me when I was renting the property, and later supported me again when I decided to buy it.
As English is my second language, I was worried I might not understand everything — but they always explained things clearly and made the whole process easy for me.

I was absolutely delighted with the service I received from Martin & Co. Harrogate. From the very initial viewing Joseph was extremely professional & organised. The application form was sent prior to the viewing as he was out of the office for a few hours & made everything readily available to us and easy to understand. I’d been to upwards of 40 viewings at the point of dealing with Martin & Co. The viewing and process with them, was the first time I actually enjoyed dealing with a letting agent and was made to feel like an individual. We were kept up to date during the whole process and the company is incredibly competent. Everything you need to know is available, email response times were very quick. The inventory of the property you are moving into is airtight and it’s clear they work very methodically for the benefit of all parties. If anyone is looking for an agent to advertise their property or a tenant is looking for their next home, this company should be high on your list. Another mention for Joseph though as it’s always a pleasure to deal with someone who is clearly very competent, professional and enjoys what they do. Thank you for everything.

Where to start? I rented with Martin and Co Harrogate for a couple of years. This ended with my partner attending a mental health course due to sleep deprivation and stress. That may sound extreme, but we were plagued with noisy, drug using neighbours that M&C refused to do anything about. The neighbours smoked drugs constantly and made excessive noise throughout the night. The Andersons wrote countless emails to the crackhead neighbours but what good did that do? They claimed they had no control to evict the tenants despite acting as the landlord. When I spoke to the actual landlord, they had no idea that M&C were so incompetent as they actually had the power over the tenancy. There is an active police investigation into the neighbours incessant illegal activity, yet still the neighbours reside in the same flat. At one point the whole building wrote a letter with signatures to M&C and the landlord (who never got the letter), complaining about these neighbours. Guess who still lives there now? There was a young child in an adjacent flat exposed to the drug use and STILL the Andersons turned a blind eye - they'll say it was out of their hands... we found drug paraphernalia in the communal stairway which was ignored and not considered evidence. The Andersons were rude, manipulative, and untrustworthy. The office had a horrible vibe and previous employees have expressed their hatred about working for Martin and Co Harrogate. Luckily me and my partner have escaped from our flat from hell. Although once we left they hiked the price of the flat up even with the knowledge of the terrible neighbours upstairs! I bet they told prospective tenants they didn't know why we left...! Don't rent with Martin and Co Harrogate, unless you want to be treated as less than human or are into drugs.

Cannot recommend this company high enough. From the very start of letting my family house , Mark and his team guided me and were truly professional. I had heard from friends that had not had good experiences with other agencies but this was certainly not the case for me. Whenever something happened, I was contacted immediately and the problem was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Inspections are carried out every three months, and a full report sent to me. Something really unusual, was that any work that needed doing, was done to a high standard and not at huge expense! Then, when the time came for me to sell my house, Martin & Co were even able to help with that and achieve a successful sale. Five stars all round

I have worked with Martin & Co for about a year. The maintenance team are professional and effective. On the numerous occasions they have called me out they have done so without delay and work hard to ensure the customers problems are dealt with quickly and correctly.

Mark Anderson and his team have managed the 2 bedroom bungalow my wife & me rent out in Harrogate for 5 years. Initially they brought in builders, plumbers, decorators to renovate the place, and the costs we incurred were incredibly low, we were astonished, and since then we have had just 3 tenants and only had a couple of weeks gap between each. They seem to be fair to the tenants but insist that they comply with their contracts. I feel that Martin & Co, Harrogate serve us as landlords to the maximum possible extent. This positivity is borne out of the fact that I used an agent in Lichfield, Staffs when we were renting out the house we'd previously been living in, and they seemed to care massively more for the tenants than us as landlords. Martin & Co, Harrogate are a "cut above the rest". You really must employ them as your Tenancy Agents.
