Martin & Co have been really great throughout my tenancy over the past 2 years in Kelham. All the staff (especially Jess and Deanna) have always been extremely friendly, professional and helpful with any issues I’ve ever had. All the moving in/moving out procedures were done really efficiently with really helpful communication throughout.
I’ve dealt with different maintanence issues when living in the flat and they’ve always been so helpful and attentive with instructing contractors right away to fix anything.
And a shoutout to Jess L for all her help throughout my tenancy, she’s made the experience really postive and a seamless process. Thank you to all of the team!

The team at Martin and Co Sheffield have been brilliant during a stressful time of moving house.
All our applications were processed quickly and efficiently, meaning we had the keys to our apartment within a few weeks.
They are all quick and responsive with emails, meaning that any issues or concerns you have are dealt with immediately putting your mind at rest.
Even after some confusion with keys, a colleague went out of her way to drop them off outside of her working hours.

Very unprofessional never answer the phone or indeed ring you back when you leave a message and also sometimes don’t reply to emails.
Also do there utmost to make sure you don’t get your deposit back by missing things off the original itinerary by trying to charge you for previous things that were wrong with the property. Charge £56 to replace a lightbulb when I checked that every lightbulb was working! Charged for a broken wardrobe that was broken before I moved in but had others replaced as the landlord apparently couldn’t afford to replace all of them!!
Mucky sofa when I moved in so I had a throw over it for a year to cover it and then this was also charged on the cleaning bill!
Shower head was disgusting and I bleached it whilst I lived there and then they charged me for this!!
Apparently landlord lived abroad and would never reply to requests so Martin and Co did the final viewing which they also added a broken balcony door which was already faulty and was stated in the original before I moved in!
Avoid this poor outfit at all costs

I rented an apartment in Merment House (Kelham) for 1 year through this company. I would advise all renters to steer clear for your own sake.
On moving into the property, it was still full of the previous tenants left over stuff and it was filthy throughout which meant we had to keep all of our stuff in boxes in one corner of the flat while they removed and brought the flat to a semi acceptable state (still nowhere near clean).
Throughout the tenancy, many of our complaints and issues were ignored or given hacky fixes which led to the issues cropping up again towards the end of the tenancy. The landlord was not willing to pay for anything to be fixed/updated unless it was a legal requirement but still had the cheek to try and raise our rent by £100 if we wanted to renew the tenancy.
At the end of the tenancy, this company had the audacity to then try to withhold £300 of my deposit for CLEANING and for sealant which was already in a state.
Luckily this wasn't my first rodeo with parasitic letting agencies so I had taken about 80 photos throughout the flat when moving in/out and made sure the issues were documented via email so thankfully the DPS awarded my full deposit back to me. However, I had to wait over 2 months for that decision, leaving me out of pocket £300 which wasn't ideal in the current climate.
I would strongly advise anyone looking to rent in Sheffield to either steer clear of this lot or take similar precautions or they will absolutely try to steal from you.

Advertised a property as furnished but the furnishings are in very bad conditions, said to discuss with the landlord. We paid part of the holding and continued asking about the property. They assured us they would speak with the landlord. A few days later, they denied ever promising to speak with the landlord and said the staff that promised to speak with the landlord no longer works with them. They have refused to refund our deposit. Do not pay any fees to them until you are satisfied with their answer regarding any questions you have!!

Do not go with these guys, tried ripping us off saying the oven isn’t clean and the cupboards but when we moved in it was already dirty left over fries in the oven cracks spider webs in the cupboards which we cleaned ourselves when we moved on, I also took pictures left the place in the same condition I moved in with, so many more things they disappointed with throughout the tenancy so unprofessional, good thing I have the evidence as if it wasn’t already clean I’m not paying for it to be cleaned. Evidence will be submitted to TPDS with time stamps of my pictures. Never will I think of using Martin & Co again.

Do not rent with these people, worst experience with renting I’ve ever had. From the get go, the apartment I rented was filthy and covered in mould. Only half the flooring was laid down and it took them about 4 months to come and lay the rest after telling me it would be done before I move in. They were awful at fixing issues, just plain rude when dealing with them and after moving out tried to take £50 off me to change three lightbulbs then told me I needed to pay £150 to clean the flat which I’d already cleaned and couldn’t provide me evidence of what needed cleaning. Then when I refused to pay they upped the cost to £216 for a clean and tried taking it out of my deposit . I moved out 3 months ago and still haven’t received my deposit back. Don’t waste your time with these awful people

They manage the rental property I was in and they were awful, took over 6 months to fix basic things like broken windows, doors and locks.. left with leaks for weeks on end, no heating, broken fridge.. the list goes on. They are terrible at managing the property, ridiculously slow and have the highest staff turn over I've ever heard of, completely incompetent at managing a property, even when everything goes through their online system as they demand, butit takes weeks and phonecalls to action! The management needs to take a look at their services as they are not fit for purpose.

Was due to have a viewing at a property last week with Laurianne, and received a voicemail the morning of, asking for a return phone call to confirm the viewing and if I didn’t by 12pm it would be cancelled. I called back 2 minutes later, speaking to Gabriella, confirming I was still attending the viewing in the afternoon. I then rang back again in the morning confirming with Gabriella where I will be meeting Laurianne, as I received no email confirmation or anything, which she stated to ring the property number when I arrive and she will meet me there.
It was a 30 minute walk to the viewing (in the rain I might add) and when I got there I rang up a third time to ask where to find the lady who was holding the viewing, in which Laurianne answered and told me because I didn’t “confirm” the viewing it was cancelled. I went on to tell her I had in fact rang back twice to confirm the viewing. She apologised and said it was not communicated to her by Gabriella and that she was in the office and couldn’t make the viewing. I work full time so this was the only day I could do due to the upcoming bank holidays. So, I was told I’d receive a video tour, however have had no further contact and no one picks up when I have tried ringing them.
Very unprofessional and a big let down and waste of my time.

Terrible experience looking to view a property. Was phoned at 12:05 and informed that I needed to call back or the booking would be cancelled, so I phoned back immediately and was told by an agent that my confirmation was received and my appointment would be going ahead.
When I arrived for the viewing noone showed up and after calling the office to investigate was told that my booking was cancelled as I had not called back before 12 to confirm - something physically impossible to do, especially as no time limit to reply was mentioned in the voicemail I received. On top of this the agent I spoke to saw no need to apologise to me for the waste of my time and travel cost due to their lack of organisation.

UPDATE: We have since moved and still have great things to say about Martin and Co. Any problems that came up during our tenancy were sorted quickly. Moving out was easy and we were able to sort any problems with our deposit quickly and smoothly. We would definitely rent from Martin and Co. Sheffield again.
Georgia was lovely and very quick to respond and help solve any issues. Our flat is in a lovely condition and great value for money, which is important for us as two postgrad students.

The customer service standard provided by the current Martin & Co team in Hillsborough is excellent.
I was a tenant for seven years and Martin & Co were always quick to respond to any repair/maintenance issues, which were dealt with efficiently by their contractors.
In addition, Martin & Co always gave me plenty of notice for property visits, renewal of tenancy, and always answered any queries and questions I had, and explained any legal technicalities.
I could not recommend the current team - Deanna, Olivia and Sam (apologies for missing anyone out) - enough for their excellence. Also, Martin (the original person I dealt with all the way back in 2014) was great. From start to finish, they were/are professional, efficient, honest, straight talking, and reasonable.
Sam did my check-out inspection, which was very (VERY) thorough, and patiently answered my questions and explained the process of repayment of deposit.
I spent ages cleaning the apartment (you can not believe how long it took - literally days!!), so it was fantastic to have my deposit repaid in full within a month of leaving.

Even though I've been complaining and trying to get it fixed for the last 3-years. Everybody must be suffering from amnesia. Do not sign any legal binding contract with these people

I have called and spoke to various people in the office in regards to booking a viewing to rent a property.
I seem to be passed from pillar to post, I spoke to a girl named abi at first who's attitude and tone was very un professional, she shouldn't be working on phones. I was then passed to a man who never followed up on it.
Know one seems to know what they are doing and its seems like a circus act. I have also walked past the window not so long ago to look at the window brochures and everyone just seems to be eating takeouts with rubbish everywhere at the desk in view of customers.
Wouldn't recommend anyone from letting here. I definitely won't be!!

Unfortunatly the flat was not for me but Abbie followed up my visit with a phone call to ask for feed back.

Very poor etiquette, a company consumed by their greed of money, me and my partner went to view a house on day 2 of people looking, the next day in the morning I made it abundantly clear that we were putting in an offer before close of play, when my partner called them, Martin & Co clearly thought we weren't going to beat the highest bid and had put forward the (before our bid) highest as it stood. They lost out on even more money because we were the highest bidders but they jumped the gun after seeing £ signs.
I won't be dealing with this company again, first impressions and all that.

By far the best lettings agency I have dealt with. Their competitors were either asking for huge deposits up front, were completely unsympathetic to our circumstance (NHS worker moving 300miles for next placement, no I can't come for a face to face interview during lockdown ???????) or were downright rude.
Deanna on the other hand was helpful, friendly and professional, she listened and understood our requirements and helped us every step of the way through the process. The video viewing was clear, well shot and detailed. The online app Goodlord is easy to use to deal with the reference checks and contractual paperwork, the whole team is friendly and knowledgeable, and they've gone the extra mile to help us at every point in the process! Highly recommended, and we will always use Martin&Co.

What a wonderful bunch of people! The customer service standard provided by Martin & Co in Hillsborough far exceeded the service levels I have experienced of other estate agencies in Sheffield. A really big contrast compared with their competitors. From the initial call and as a newcomer to the rental market, Martin & Co provided the upmost professional service in guiding me and renting my 3 bed luxury apartment to suitable tenants, this was all done within 2 weeks of the property being marketed on Rightmove. I could not recommend Georgia, Josh and Gina enough for their excellence and attention to detail through the whole process. From start to finish, they were professional, efficient, honest, straight talking and most certainly delivered on their promise. I would recommend this local agency without any hesitation. Extremely poor & unprofessional.
We have lived in a property for 3 years, spending £20,000 on rental. We ensured to the very best of our ability that the property was maintained and kept in good condition. We were never late with a rent payment, and always paid in full, even through the pandemic & lockdown. We never missed a payment. We even helped them find a new tenant.
We are in the final throws of buying a house and due to the workload banks are facing, our moving in date was pushed back by a week. We asked if we could pay for an extra week, so we weren't made homeless, I was told flat out no by Josh, who was happy to make us homeless during the pandemic. With my partner working from home for the NHS. We have been left with her unable to work and no where to live.
Josh presented us with a series of obstacles that he claimed made it impossible to extend, I offered solutions to each. All of which is refused. Forcing us into homelessness and unpaid leave with our worldly belongings in a garage, praying it survives the cold weather.
With no choice but to leave the property on 27th (the next tenant not due in until 12th two weeks later), we cleaned and painted it top to bottom, after all, that's the right thing to do. We were supposed to meeting Mohamed the following day at 4pm. He eventually turned up at almost 5pm.
We were then told we would have a reply on our deposit refund the next day. Its 3 days later and we still haven't heard a thing.

My son and daughter in law rent a house through this branch. All went well until they had repairs done in what they claimed was essential work . No heating no hot water for a week with a new born baby . The office blame everything else but themselves. Martin and co organised this work they are responsible. The work was rushed and was sub standard. The service from Martin and co is abysmal. No call backs emails sent at 5 pm closing time so you cannot respond. Look at all your poor reviews. Not a reason to use this branch with the poor level of service and care taken . You are affecting peoples life's and the stress of a new born on top of this is just a level beyond. I have been a tradesmen all my life and this house is bodged up . You will be reported to environmental heath and the ombudsmen in due course with legal action is coming your way .

Honestly, it's the worst service I have received and that's me being honest. Contacted via zoopla in regards to a property, I got a email on a Saturday asking me for details. I provided all details they needed and it's been almost 2 weeks since I enquired to just discover the property I was interested in was let and I didn't not get any correspondence at all in regards to it. Be nice to get a acknowledgement of the property going, but better to give someone answers then having to find out myself. My previous contact with this company was just as bad. Got a viewing for a property to be told that the landlord won't even look at the applications but choose from random, I rang the company up within minutes of the viewing and was told I would get the applications shortly, nothing. The next morning I emailed to be told that the property was let as I did not send in the applications which I never received. I did complain, and was given the application to try, shouldn't have tried since hours later I was told no. Won't go here ever again from the lack of service, this is a honest review if you wanted honesty. Found much better estate agents who help their customers.

Horrible company with shocking customer service. Please do not rent any of their properties. Me and my partner had a viewing booked for 3:30 on the 21st of August, on the day me and my partner travelled to Sheffield from Leicester (1h30) to attend this viewing. We arrived to the flat around 3:20 but we struggled to find parking so we had to drive around the flat to see if there was any parking until we found an NCP parking space nearby 2-3 mins walk to the flat, as you drive in there is a ticket machine which gives you a ticket stating what time you arrived, the ticket read 3:22. Me and my partner started walking from the parking lot to the flat around 3:25 as I had to park the car, how ever we were outside the flat around 3:28 we noticed no one was outside and had asked a few tenants if they saw anyone waiting outside the building but there was no sight of her, so we waited thinking she was late. After waiting for 3 mins we were getting frustrated so decided to ring the company around 3:31 no one answered, so we kept calling straight for 10 mins from both phones until someone answered 15 minutes later at 3:45 saying the agent isn’t there anymore and accused me and partner of being late to the appointment, which was very rude as we were there early, the lady also mentioned the agent was waiting there for 20 minutes and left for her next which is obviously not true unless the agent is invisible. Me and my partner felt so shocked and distributed by this hence we requested for another agent she said this was not possible and ended the call. We were very enraged by this so we called again explaining we aren’t happy with this and requested for another agent for the viewing, the man said no one is available today and that we shouldn’t have turned up late to the appointment man, so we kept asking if there was someone who can show us the flat so it doesn’t feel like a wasted trip all the way to Sheffield but he answered saying “there is no point viewing this flat, someone just walked in the office and left and application for it” makes me ask so in 5 minutes the flat is gone? I was fuming by this point as he kept repeating “ If you wanted the flat you shouldn’t have turned up late to the appointment” he was very rudely accusing us of being late and making us the culprits out of this issue. In the end this issue was not solved the company ended the phone call on us, we didn’t get the viewing we had arranged for, we were spoken to very rudely, the staff handled our problem very unprofessionally, a very wasted trip especially when me partner were very excited on the day to view our possible new flat, as we really wanted it. Moral of the story please do not rent any of their flats do not use this letting company whatsoever. Thank you.

We dealt with Sophie Johnson. She provided great help and support throughout. Nothing was too much trouble for her and whatever she did, she did with cheeriness and such a positive attitude. A real pleasure to deal with! As someone very experienced in dealing with estate agents all over the country for the last 40 years I can honestly say that Sophie's and Martin & Co's level of service and general dealing with the sale was the best I have ever experienced in that time and I would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone looking for an agent in the area. The circumstances of the sale were difficult in many ways but everything was dealt with graciously and effectively. Really outstanding!! Only pity is that Martin & Co's ways are not those of all estate agents and that their services are not available nationwide.

Horrendous once you've moved out and staff don't seem to communicate with each other.
Tenancy finished early September and emailed about our deposit a couple of weeks later. My email was 'forwarded on to the relevant people'. Waited another two weeks and emailed again as we didn't hear anything; 'Your email has been passed on to Mohamed who looks after your property'. Waited another two weeks and emailed Mohamed as we didn't hear anything; 'Helen is dealing with your deposit'. Two more weeks later and Helen replies stating that the landlord is deciding what he wants to do...
We decided to send a Statutory Declaration off to the DPS (Costing £10 for a signature) in order to get a response from the landlord within 14 days as it was getting ridiculous. The landlord replied to the DPS two weeks later; he disputed the deposit and wanted to receive £560 out of £750.
The deposit was put through the DPS independent adjudication service in December and the landlord received just £90 for some cleaning - his claims were outrageous and I'm glad the DPS saw through this. A highlight was £150 to cover a router removal - the landlord hadn't even removed it!
Looking at other reviews, it's blatantly clear that landlords love Martin and Co (I wonder why!) and a lot of tenants seem to have problems. The service was fine whilst being a tenant but the service after we moved out was appalling.

I am a landlord and have had two studio apartments with Martin& Co since 2006, with their fully managed service. During this time, I have found the service to be very good, with helpful, proactive staff. As a responsible landlord, any problems with an apartment which they flag up are dealt with by their local contractors at reasonable rates. Tenants to my knowledge (and more than one has stayed on for several renewals) have been also happy. For investor landlords like me, that are busy and want a hassle free service, I would highly recommend Martin & Co at Sheffield.

The worst customer service experience I have ever had. After paying for my tenancy renewal they decided to instead of renewing serve me with an eviction notice...fair enough landlords right but after that sending a letter blaming me saying I had informed them I was leaving(not the case) then heard 5 different reasons as to why we were being evicted. Turns out they’re just renting out again with an extra £50 on top of what our rent was. Still not received my money for the renewal back nor heard anything about a deposit despite me calling 3 times.

I have previously rented from Martin & Co a few years back, and found the service shocking - the woman was rude and it took them 3 months to fix a broken back door (due to an attempted burglary which was traumatic enough for me), which was only fixed when I had the fire service come round and instruct them that it needed to be done immediately as the back door did not open and it was illegal.
I am currently looking to buy my first place and liked the look of one the properties for sale in Sheffield and thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try again, but having sent 2 enquiries AND spoken to someone on their online web chat, I have still yet to receive an email or call back despite being promised by the online agent it would be that same day. I think almost 2 weeks after an enquiry in to a property that I am genuinely interested in, you would expect ANY sort of response? I feel sorry for the sellers of the property, as this is most certainly delaying their sale.

Called at 9 am on the day to re-confirm and after talking to multiple people who clearly had no idea of what I was referring to, I received a call from another agent letting me know that I cancelled my appointment that was supposed to be a week earlier and the next viewing was the following week. I have just completed the letting of my apartment thanks to the staff at Martin &Co. The apartment was needing a lot of remedial works to bring it back to standard e.g. decoration, cleaning, new carpets and removal of previous tenants old furniture and general tidy up. Staff at both branches in Sheffield were excellent special mention must go to James, Anita and Deanna who went the extra mile to help organize the works in a timely manner whilst also securing a new tenant for the apartment.
