As Americans navigating the UK rental market for the first time, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect — referencing, guarantors, holding deposits, right-to-rent checks… it can feel like learning a new language. Liberty made all of it effortless.
From our very first conversation through receiving the keys to Foundry House, she was exceptional. Clear, patient, proactive, and incredibly responsive. She explained every step of the process without ever making us feel like outsiders. What could have been overwhelming instead felt organized, transparent, and calm.
Relocating internationally comes with plenty of moving parts, but Liberty anticipated issues before they arose and kept everything on track. Emails were answered promptly. Timelines were clear. Paperwork was smooth. We always knew exactly where we stood.

I thought there were no good agents in Oxford until Saville recommended me to Richard at Scott Fraser. Mixed reviews on the internet, so I was a little sceptical about them in the beginning but they proved me wrong. Richard head the sales team there with William and Caia. The whole team has been amazing throughout the whole process, from valuation through to final sale. The valuation was realistic and fair. Photography and marketing was delivered with professionalism. The viewings were conducted with professionalism and care. There was never any query / questions too trivial and the whole team was on top of our sale, so you can call up and speak to any member of the team to get an answer. Follow-up is excellent and they will always call back, if they don’t have an answer. They also go above and beyond to sort out any issues, and find solutions that works for both the buyer and seller. We sold our property first week it was listed. We are very happy with Scott Fraser Summertown and highly recommend them if you are planning to sell your property in north Oxford,

Based on our experience as tenants in Oxford with SF, who both let and manage the property, we found SF to be unresponsive and unprofessional property managers. Here are some of the issues we encountered:
- SF failed to complete the inventory before the tenancy commenced.
- It took months and several official complaints for SF to address serious issues such as a radiator falling off the wall, a broken toilet, and damages caused by contractors to the property.
- SF failed to register a property check visit and attempted to schedule another one two months after the initial visit.
Having rented properties both nationally and internationally for years, I can confidently say that this is by far the worst property management company I have encountered.

I have used Scottfraser for many years. It used to be a fabulous company. However, since leaders took over a few years ago it has gone completely downhill. I would like to say that the Letting guys in summertown have been good. But they are completely let down by the property management team. The property management team is absolute shambles. The poor management lead to misuse of our property, poor checkout and poor checking in of new tenants. I had decided to manage the property myself since the new tenants have moved in. The management team raised cost to put the property right at the end of the last tenancy but, after several reminders, failed to raise a dispute with the previous tenants within the 90 day period. Now making the costs from damages difficult to retrieve. Despite having professional check-in and check out inventories and the receipts raised mainly by their team, they are asking that we negotiate on the claim from the tenants deposit. Which is utterly ridiculous considering the evidence they have to show the damages that were caused through neglect. They are awfully slow at responding and are utterly incompetent at their job. I spoke to the manager of the property management department at the beginning of the year. She was apologetic and assured me she will be looking into the matter. She followed up in writing to say she will be in contact within seven days. It has been nearly 1 month and I’ve not heard a thing.

From closing the office without warning a few hours early after you make a 2hr trip from Sheffield to pick up keys, to rude staff.
After 3 years being a tenant with Scott Fraser, I don't know why I am still surprised with such poor service. I am currently looking for a new place to live since my landlord is selling. Every other estate agent I have contacted has always got back to me.

July 12th - I first asked about the property and discussed rent pcm.
July 14th - I asked for an update, no response.
July 17th - I called asking for an update - I left a message as no one was there.
July 18th - I again called and was told by a female colleague that she was covering as the manager was now on annual leave. She said she did not have any information if the landlord had been given my offer.
July 19th - I was emailed with an application form to complete. I had wrongly assumed, since a week had passed, that my offer was being given to the landlord. This was not the case. I completed and sent the form back the same day.
July 20th - I emailed to ask when I could expect to head back.
July 21st - I was told Scott Fraser were unable to open the file I had sent. I replied back on the same day with another copy.
July 25th - I asked for an update. No response.

The amount of issues I have encountered with Scott Fraser in the past year is ridiculous! Right from the very first day I was overcharged and spent a whole afternoon sorting out their mistake. It then took three months to receive actual clear answers about our landlord and bills after only every receiving one or two cryptic details. Little to no communication at all - I think the last time someone actually picked up one of my calls was 6 months ago. No idea who the current landlord even is! Multiple problems with the boiler, the shower, fridge that were either neglected for weeks or still haven't been resovled. To top it off, I've been living with a mouse infestation for 4 months now with no action taken, they're in the kitchen, the living room and upstairs by the bedrooms. And now the estate agents are telling me the rent is being raised! Don't go anywhere near Scott Fraser if you want to live not just stress-free but in basic humane conditions!

And now we are dealing with a mice infestation which they have not tended to (despite trying to contact them for the past month), we even suspect now that there are dead rodents within the walls because there are now swarms of flies around the house.
This is unacceptable treatment, highly wouldn't recommend especially if you're a student.

I have never seen anything like that in my life. You fix an appointment with a letting agency, drive for 90 minutes to see the property and no turns up. The agent calls you back after 40 minutes saying that she was stuck in a meeting and another agent should have turned up! Very disappointed!

A previous reviewer captured it when she said that, even though it clearly wasn’t the case, it felt like you were Richard’s only client. It did feel this way, which is hugely to his credit. He was always responsive, polite and friendly. Ours was a protracted sale and Richard was with us throughout, understanding (and sharing) our frustrations, and doing all he could to ensure it progressed in a timely manner. We’ve met some other estate and letting agents and Richard’s professionalism stands out. Ollie and Sarah who we also dealt with at times were also good, and so can we recommend ScottFraser as an honest and fair estate agent. We’d use them again to sell a property, and would be more inclined to buy a property in which they were the selling agent.

Only ever heard of their well deserved and enviable reputation that proceeds them as the ‘Go to’ independent estate agency in and around Oxford from a professional perspective.
I had a brief stint in Chancellors of Summertown, and frankly Scott Fraser were the agency my Sales Manager dreaded going up against for Market Appraisals.
They were also consistently a thorn in the side of my colleagues at the fledgling Fine & Country Oxford team, consistently winning business over F&C and if I’m honest it’s clear to see why; strong presence in the area, a dynamic and highly motivated team who offer 5* service to buyers and sellers alike and fees that are more than fair, especially when held up against F&Cs fees of 2.5%+ VAT.
For what it’s worth, the curb appeal of their office in Summertown always makes me take a look in their windows first.
So, it’s safe to assume the potential buyers of your home you’re looking to sell will be doing the same too - and this passing footfall in Summertown is incredibly wealthy, and will be the exact type of person who could afford to buy your home
So instruct Scott Fraser if you want to capture this often under-utilised channel to market your home.
For what it’s worth, I wish I had taken up my chance to join their team around a year or so ago, as the agency continues to flourish. Trust me, it’s a very good sign if other agents from other firms want to work here.
So to anyone reading this as someone who may be somewhat disenfranchised by the likes of Savills and the ‘Old Boys Club’ agencies due to a slower uptake of modern marketing methods, but still want to instruct agents who will value your property correctly, have a nurtured database of buyers waiting to buy and a team who’ll ensure you’ll go from listed to completed smoothly?
Then instruct these guys first, you won’t regret it????????

Scott Fraser did a very good job of selling a big house near Oxford when the market was affected by both Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. The house was attractive in some ways, but also needed a lot of renovation, and its large garden was clearly going to need work. There were also complications about legal authority to sell, which took a long time to sort out. Scott Fraser were at all times patient with the problems and enthusiastic about selling the house. They took a well though out approach to advertising the house and finding clients who would be interested in buying a house of this type and able to complete it. They also advised me well about which offer to accept. I enjoyed dealing with them, and they handled a difficult task very well.

Scott Fraser were excellent, really proactive and much more selective in identifying those potential buyers who were seriously interested. The result was that I had offers from two separate couples within four weeks, the second of whom have bought my house at a price that was within my target range. As Americans wanting to sell a house we purchased in Oxford, we were unfamiliar with the regulations and customs associated with the process. Oliver Saxton and his colleagues (especially Jenny Philip) at scottfraser estate agents in Summertown were absolutely marvelous in taking us through the entire process.
I dropped in with no appointment and Oliver patiently and courteously explained the whole process, including the outstanding special winter offer (low commission rate, free legal services, etc.) that was then available. He arranged to come to our house within days, provided us with all the needed information about the housing market, and suggested what we considered an optimistic guide price. He also provided useful information on what work we did, and did not, have to do on our house to get it ready to show to customers.
Within weeks, before the house was officially listed, we had several potential buyers from the scottfraser list of clients in to see the house, one of whom purchased it at full guide price. The entire process went smoothly, including scottfraser assisting with several items that were raised by the buyers solicitors.
We could not be more satisfied with the process of selling our house and would highly recommend Oliver Saxton and his colleagues. They were knowledgeable, courteous, supportive and trustworthy.

I have used a dozen Lettings Agents in various parts of the Country over the last decade. I give Scott Fraser Full marks. They basically provide a turn-key service finding good tenants quickly; being flexible about the terms of the lease; monitor the property; and deal with all the incidentals (like council tax, gas and electricity) if there is a void. They are also flexible about paying service charges and ground rents for me.
In addition their office is well sited in Summertown; it is very nice but not too palatial. I have found their staff efficient and their financial information and control is excellent.
In addition Scott Fraser sold a flat for me. It proved a very difficult matter with a lease extension dragging on for months. Scott Fraser stuck with it, with frequent nudges and feedback to an irritated buyer - all well in the end. An EXCELLENT effort on their part.
I strongly recommend them for all you property needs.

I phoned the office late one afternoon in a dejected state and managed to speak to the lovely Nicola. I was essentially depressed at the lack of respect and professionalism that I had been afforded in the preceding weeks by the other agents in the area. She apologised on their behalf and asked me if there was any particular property that I had seen or was interested in seeing. Before I knew it, we were booked in to see the house of our dreams. When we walked in we fell in love with the place but the viewing was bittersweet as we felt it was beyond our price range.
She insisted on us putting an offer forward and through her careful and sensitive negotiation, we had an offer accepted with a few days. From start to finish, she worked tirelessly with us and the vendors in progressing matters in a friendly, efficient and sophisticated manner. It is a credit to her and her whole team (Karen and Patrick in particular) that matters concluded so seamlessly. She reassured us when we were down and remained positive even when we thought things were slipping away.
It was clear to us that the whole team were genuinely happy for us throughout this process. I would heartily recommend these guys to anyone wishing to sell (or let) their property in the North Oxford area.

All that transpired over the next few months were lots of assurances with next to no viewings. I soon realised I should have trusted my instinct and gone with Scott Fraser. My girlfriend and I had a terrible experience with this agency. The landlord accepted our offer and we paid the agency fees. They delayed sending us the contract and 7 days after the referencing process was supposedly completed we received an email telling us that the landlord had decided to go with another tenant. Scottfraser claimed they were unaware! Then what is the point in having an agency??? We never even saw a contract! If ScottFraser cannot provide a contract in time and cannot guarantee that the landlord they are dealing with isn't also letting privately, then there is no chance for the prospective tenant! I have lost all trust in this agency, and can only describe them as being incompetent.

My experience with ScottFraser, represented by Nicola Horner, has been outstanding. Two other agencies, one local agent and one national chain, had not managed to sell our 4 bed detached house in Botley for two summer seasons, even when in the second summer the market was booming and the buyers were queuing up.

Over the past 8 years I have used a number of agents in Oxford, for both sales and letting, with mainly disappointing to very disappointing results. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to chat to staff at Scottfraser's lettings office in Cowley and as a result they looked after my property for a year.
The standard of service was excellent. Communication was prompt and clear and as a landlord by circumstance who no longer lives in Oxford I finally felt that I could trust an agent to manage my property. When I came to sell the house I had no hesitation over using Scottfraser to handle the sale and again I have been extremely impressed. The sale has not been straightforward but Scottfraser have always been on top of things and I have never doubted their judgement and professionalism.

We have recently purchased a house with Scottfraser. They helped us to buy our previous property, then sold it for us, in order to fund the newer bigger property that we are after this time.
I was not much involved in the previous purchase, but at that time our overall experience was good. This time I am heavily involved in every step and I would like to praise them here for their good work.
They are effective, extremely helpful at the initial stage of making an offer. Nicola in particular was very sensible and keen to help. After I chose my dream house, Nicola discussed with me the options of selling my current property in a very short time to secure the purchase.
I was impressed with how soon they brought the prospective buyers in to start viewings. And they really found serious customers there. We received offers from nearly every viewer.
A long story short, we now have moved in and are really happy to have made the decision in the first place to engage with Scottfraser. We do have a plan for the future to change house again and Scottfraser will no doubt be our top choice of estate agent.

I approached three estate agents with regards to selling my flat. One agent, I felt, valued it far too low - the 'pile 'em high, sell 'em quick' mindset. One got a bit overexcited and I believed valued unrealistically high and started talking about open houses and all sorts of complicated things. Conversely, Nicola at Scott Fraser clearly knew her stuff right from the start. Her valuation was sensible and backed up by recent sales of other similar properties. When she subsequently contacted me to ask if I'd made a decision about selling my property, she always had useful and relevant information. Plus, it's a small thing but I asked her to email me rather than phone, which she always did - unlike the other estate agents I had contacted.
In summary, I went with Scott Fraser because I found them to be both professional and knowledgeable plus - I think most importantly - they listened to what I wanted and worked with me to sell my flat. I found everyone at Scott Fraser friendly and helpful at all times. The process of selling my flat was painless and rewarding.
Although Scott Fraser were the most expensive of the three agents I approached, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Professional, reliable, thorough and very pleasant are some of the words that spring to mind when I think of our experience with Scott Fraser. We bought a house through Scott Fraser during a buoyant market so their main client was the seller and not us. However the time and effort they gave to us was first rate! Karen Wrigley couldn't do enough for us. Prompt replies to any of our questions and did whatever necessary to assist our requests. All whilst being very friendly. In the times that Karen was unavailable other Scott Fraser staff were quick to assist. Whilst looking to buy a house we came into contact with many agents and we found Scott Fraser stood out as being the best.

SF provided advice and help on the process of preparation for letting and the management of occupation by a tenant all within a tight one month timescale over a Christmas/New Year period.

I lived in one of their properties for a year, and Scottfraser sent in people without their legally binding 24hour notice, and then they complained the kitchen counter had a pan on it. They also wanted us to redraft our contract for some reason so we'd have to pay more, but on close inspection of the contract we didn't need to do that. They also charged us a lot of cleaning which we couldn't avoid, even leaving the property in pristine condition. DO NOT RENT FROM SCOTTFRASER.

Several years ago I asked ScottFraser to let a flat. They found a tenant who passed all the checks and seemed ideal. We were due to sign up over the weekend. On Saturday at around 5.30 pm I had a call from Michael Joubert saying he was on his way to a wedding, but had a very bad feeling about the new tenant and suggested we delayed signing until he had done more checks. Michael did not need to ring me as Scott Fraser had done their job and earned their commission. He was right to be cautious as it transpired that the new tenant was proposing to sub let to many of his "friends". I considered that Scott Fraser had acted above and beyond the call of duty and have used them ever since.
They have recently found me a tenant for a small house in Jericho which had been let to the same person for some 11 years. I took their advice on refurbishment, used their builder and they project managed the process. The builder was extremely competant and good value such that I will certainly use him on my own house if I need any work done. The whole change of tenant was handled speedily, efficiently and painlessly. I cannot fault the service I have received from Michael, Claire, James and the team.
