In general personnel are helpful, however let down by systems. I constantly get warnings that my Tennant has not paid when they have. SF accounting system is abysmal causing the Tennant and landlord unnecessary stress. SF just are not ahead of the game and need to wake themselves up.

I was impressed by a number of actions she took, for example the speed in which she was able to get several people to visit the apartment . They have been punctual and professional from the start, very responsive and always reliable.
I am 8 months pregnant and Razia has massively helped the entire process by always replying promptly to emails and actioning all requests from our solicitor. This in turn has taken a huge pressure off me and meant my pregnancy has been a lot less stressful.
We would 100% use this team again and fully recommend their services.

These people are just scammers. They put my property on the market. Didn't respond to any emails for 3 weeks and there are no viewings. In that time they didn't put a sign at my house saying for sale. When I went to their offices, my property wasn't even on show in their window or inside. They had pictures of properties with 'SOLD' written on it rather than have my property. As this was suspicious, a friend queried asking for details about the property via Rightmove and got no response from Scott Fraser. Their plan was to tell me that there was no interest and then make me drop the price. Then they'd sell it on to a friend. There are minimal houses for sale in Oxford and therefore Scott Fraser were actively trying to reduce the price I'll accept. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

I sold a house with them a couple of months ago. Initially they come by with a whole team, bright smiles and promise a great service for a low fee 1%. Then the managers disappear and the whole process is swallowed up by over run junior staff.
Communication was poor with constant chasing and the overall attitude was that they didn't really care as long as the sale went through. The valuation was too high so be careful to manage your expectations if you deal with them.
With hindsight I would have gone with a smaller local agent and paid a bit more.

AVOID. Would give them a 0 if I could. Horrendous estate agents that will hook you in with paying a no deposit option, being told I’d not even be considered to rent the property unless I paid this way even though I offered them 7 weeks of rent upfront as a deposit. They attempted to sting me with a hefty bill for cleaning (which was eventually deemed too high) / unreturned items which were returned. I managed to win the majority of my money back by paying for an adjudicator to look at the case. They then tried to lie their way out of refunding the fee which I paid for this adjudication to go ahead by stating it was non refundable which was not what my tenancy stated. They got a debt collection company to try and collect the incorrect amount owed off me which I spent months fighting to finally win my share back. Also tried to contact them several times for certain issues during my contract and heard nothing back. Called one evening to let them know I had a ceiling leak coming through the electrics in the roof and never heard back nor sent anyone to fix it before closing for the day and never getting back to me. No care for your safety. If you’re a tenant, from my own experience, I’d heavily avoid this agency. I’ve read many reviews from other tenants stating similar experiences. A totally stressful experience which I’ve never experienced with any other letting agency. Avoid at all costs.

I was to resume a new job in East Oxford and I needed to relocate asap as a result of many disappointment, while other agencies were following bureaucratic bottle necks of having to come in person for physical viewing before anything can be done, I received a video viewing almost immediately, I liked what I saw and I showed interest in it. The process commenced almost immediately and before the viewing date given by other agencies, I had concluded the renting process and payment for this property within 1 week, just awaiting rental agreement.

I wish I could give 2 reviews because I’ve had polar opposite experiences interacting with two employees. On one end, Oliver Hill did not fulfill a single obligation or responsibility as our property manager throughout our tenancy. He actively avoided communication, lied to co-workers about communicating with us, and failed to resolve any maintenance issue we reported. After we were forced to pay out-of-pocket for maintenance issues (~£400), he promised to reimburse us but never did. If you have the misfortune of having him as your property manager, I would advise you end your tenancy immediately. On the other hand, Chantel Phipps deserves a 5-star rating as she went out of her way to assist us when Oliver continuously failed to meet his obligations. She is the pinnacle of professionalism and anyone would be lucky to have her as a property manager.

After 3 years being a tenant with Scott Fraser, I don't know why I am still surprised with such poor service. I am currently looking for a new place to live since my landlord is selling. Every other estate agent I have contacted has always got back to me.

July 17th - I called asking for an update - I left a message as no one was there.
July 18th - I again called and was told by a female colleague that she was covering as the manager was now on annual leave. She said she did not have any information if the landlord had been given my offer.
July 19th - I was emailed with an application form to complete. I had wrongly assumed, since a week had passed, that my offer was being given to the landlord. This was not the case. I completed and sent the form back the same day.
July 20th - I emailed to ask when I could expect to head back.
July 21st - I was told Scott Fraser were unable to open the file I had sent. I replied back on the same day with another copy.
July 25th - I asked for an update. No response.

I was really impressed with Scott fraser when we started renting and they seemed quite reasonable throughout. But that has been massively soured after not having an update on our deposit after moving out nearly 2 months ago. Currently calling 3 times a week for an update, being told it will get sorted, but it's obviously not. Very disappointing, they are withholding a lot of money from us. Looking at other reviews, we are likely to have unreasonable deductions, so no doubt there will be further delays arguing these...

Very disappointed with Scott Fraser, despite Under the new Model Tenancy Agreement, announced by Housing Minister Rt Hon Christopher Pincher MP, landlords will no longer be able to issue blanket bans on pets by default. Scott Fraser appears to advertise all properties with a blanket ban on pets which is not only against the new Model Tenancy Agreement advertised by the government but also unfair discrimination against owners of well behaved pets. Advertising properties in this way goes against the ruling that instead, consent for pets will be the default position, and landlords will have to object in writing within 28 days of a written pet request from a tenant and provide a good reason. Also in our contact with Scott Fraser we received inconsistent answers and responses from different staff members regarding this issue who were very unhelpful and uncaring.

The amount of issues I have encountered with Scott Fraser in the past year is ridiculous! Right from the very first day I was overcharged and spent a whole afternoon sorting out their mistake. It then took three months to receive actual clear answers about our landlord and bills after only every receiving one or two cryptic details. Little to no communication at all - I think the last time someone actually picked up one of my calls was 6 months ago. No idea who the current landlord even is! Multiple problems with the boiler, the shower, fridge that were either neglected for weeks or still haven't been resovled. To top it off, I've been living with a mouse infestation for 4 months now with no action taken, they're in the kitchen, the living room and upstairs by the bedrooms. And now the estate agents are telling me the rent is being raised! Don't go anywhere near Scott Fraser if you want to live not just stress-free but in basic humane conditions!

I would strongly advise against using this letting agent - we have just had a terrible time getting the deposit back following a student let for my son and 4 friends. The liabilities they were claiming for were totally ridiculous – this agency is either incompetent or corrupt or both (in my opinion). They would not listen to reason and their Customer Relations department did not respond to my emails. I wasted weeks of my time researching the spurious claims and gathering evidence to refute them, and I’m loathe to waste any more of my time describing all the frustrations. Unfortunately, it costs them nothing to try withholding deposits, in the hope that students are either too naïve or inexperienced to refute the claims. However, I was determined not to let them get away with it.
Eventually the dispute went to the TDS for adjudication, and of the £1036 originally claimed by the letting agent, only £55 was deemed a fair amount to award to the landlord by the independent adjudicator! Enough said.
If you do still plan to use this outfit, I strongly recommend you study the Check-In inventory carefully (ours was hidden on a web-portal and we were not made aware of its existence), take lots of photographs on Day 1, keep records of all correspondence (you’ll need this as evidence for the TDS) and do not assume fair play. Alternatively, just be prepared to forego £1000 of your deposit at the end of the tenancy, for an easy life.

If you're planning to rent with Scott Fraser PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING on day one.
We got a 1000gbp deduction from our deposit for preexisting faults in house, a major one being ubiquitous mould spots all around the property - which we were told to deal with ourselves upon reporting. I got the odd impression they're way keener to check for faults after you have moved out to be able to cut your deposit money.
Of course you can counter claim those deductions, but understandably, hardly anyone, aside from the letting agency itself of course, has the time and spare energy to do that - I think this agency is a great example of one that clearly knows that and takes advantage of it.
My advice is, if you must rent with them, make sure you document and photograph every single fault upon moving in, and in presence of their representative (possibly even have them sign that they've seen the photographs) - of course a much simpler solution is to avoid them.

I went with Scott Fraser during a placement year and unfortunately found the service to be very disappointing throughout my time in Oxford, there seemed to be a consistent pattern of maintenance issues with the house being either undealt with and redirected back to us to deal with, or being carelessly approached.
A few examples of this: We had some panelling which had fully come off in one of the bathrooms shortly after moving in and as a professional "fix" literally just a layer of sellotape was added around it. Needless to say, it came off again shortly afterwards.
Secondly, I had an issue with an infestation and mould starting to spread in my room from behind the wardrobe. There were genuinely hundreds if not thousands of mites on my bedroom walls and rather than professionally dealing with the issue I was just advised with buying some mould spray instead. I couldn't properly deal with the root of this infestation on my own, so this lasted throughout Winter and Spring until they naturally went away in the Summer.
Also, there was a large mould problem on moving into our house particularly in the bathrooms, on reporting issues such as the mould, dampness and mushrooms growing out from under the bath! Again, no professional assistance was granted and I ended up breaking one of my room heaters (which I bought due to poor heating in the house) trying to dry out the bathroom and kill off the mushrooms.
The same types of responses were given to my housemates who had reported their own issues too.
I believe that maybe some of these issues would have been better dealt with if we'd kicked up more of a fuss throughout the year when we weren't happy with how we were being treated, but all of us being students and on full-time placements left us with very little time for doing this. Either way, good service shouldn't involve having to complain in the first place.
Finally, we ended up getting charged around £1000 off all of our deposits after thoroughly cleaning the house and certainly leaving particular rooms looking better than they did when moving in.

I chose Scott Fraser partly because the company had recently sold the property on one side, and was renting out the house on the other, but also because Edward Parkinson did a very professional evaluation of the property, provided useful advice and did not waste my time with a high pressure marketing spiel. Simon Liddicot was helpful and efficient e.g. in organising the brochure, and Lara Bishop was pro-active in negotiating a deal, prompting solicitors into action and paying attention to detail e.g. in ensuring the meters were read on completion day. On reflection, I cannot find any fault with their service and have no hesitation in recommending them - not the cheapest, but reliable.

Estate Agents can be worse than second hand car sales people in terms of manners, Scott Fraser get on with the job, worked with us effectively, and got people through the door. The concept for Scott Fraser is excellent, we felt it was driven by David Blythman their Managing Director who was very involved, hard nosed, honest and accessible. Edward has been extremely helpful at all times and our dealings with Scott Fraser, both in Headington and Cowley, have been extremely positive -- in one case, we did not buy a house and in the second case, we did - today, in OX4. I have to say that the person who worked hardest for us was Patrick Murray in Headington even though the owner never actually moved out of her property -- it was continually frustrating and he did his utmost to help us -- even though in the end, there was nothing he could do to help us buy the house we liked.
Patrick handed us over to Edward when we found a house in Cowley and Edward has followed up Patrick's example by being extremely helpful to the point that -- after almost 10 months -- we have finally found a house. There were 9 sealed bids for this house and Edward helped us -- without ever breaking any protocol. It's tough to buy a house in Oxford and we have been grateful for the straight talking that we have encountered at Scott Fraser.

We had no previous experience of selling and found their advice on how best to market our house really useful from the outset. Viewings were really well organised and we had feedback from each one. Once we had a buyer secured, I assumed that their work was done and it would be over to the solicitors, but that's when Oliver and Edward's work really began.
In our case, due to a chain (we were buying in a different city at the same time), getting to the point of exchange wasn't easy. Over the past 8 years I have used a number of agents in Oxford, for both sales and letting, with mainly disappointing to very disappointing results. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to chat to staff at Scottfraser's lettings office in Cowley and as a result they looked after my property for a year.
The standard of service was excellent. Communication was prompt and clear and as a landlord by circumstance who no longer lives in Oxford I finally felt that I could trust an agent to manage my property. When I came to sell the house I had no hesitation over using Scottfraser to handle the sale and again I have been extremely impressed. The sale has not been straightforward but Scottfraser has always been on top of things and I have never doubted their judgement and professionalism.

Scott Fraser have exceeded our expectations. They provided us with not one but two buyers, replacing our first, who dropped out at short notice, with another suitable purchaser within a few days. Their professional staff all made themselves familiar with our house before accompanying all viewings and the prospective purchasers were all of the highest quality, all were in a position to proceed.
In particular Edward Parkinson, Manager of the Cowley Office put in a stellar performance. At all times he has been professional, respectful and supportive of both us and our buyers keeping them on board even though we've had a long wait to get here. Our house has been in my family for over 50 years and Edward was always sensitive to the fact that it mattered who we sold to.

It’s very easy to commend Scott Fraser’s Letting Service! We have used their services to let a property in the Cowley Road area for twelve years now. Because we’ve used the flat ourselves annually and tend to let it for shorter-term rentals (under a year), we’ve had to work fairly closely with SF staff and, very often, have also had the opportunity to meet with our incoming tenants. To say it’s worked well would be an understatement: we have found the SF folk very professional and efficient in their dealings with both the tenants and ourselves.
We have also found SF to be very responsive to our tenants’ concerns. If something needs attention in the flat: the matter gets addressed quickly and we’re happy to report that our tenants have, on the whole, been very satisfied with both the property and Scott Fraser’s services over the years.
We’d like to commend Anna Berry in particular: she acknowledges and responds to communications promptly, acts very quickly to initiate the lettings process and gets the job done. A big thank you to Anna - and all of the SF Cowley Road team - from Catherine and Jeremy.

Really not the worst estate agent I have dealt with recently… didn't manage to rent through them but they seemed more professional than Taylors and certainly WhiteWalls! Was a major headache trying to speak to someone on the phone as leaving messages with sale, never resulted with the rental team calling back! ARLA membership at least suggests they aren't as bad as allot of Oxford cowboys, would use them or Chancellors again.

Disgraceful! Hidden costs aplenty. They force you to fill in an application online, so you can't ask questions. The web site does not make fees clear. Complete rip off! Go to Chancellors instead! Not great, but better than Scott Fraser.
