no discussions or suggestions put forward by the agents as to how the property could be made more attractive to potential buyers, i.e price reduction, more advertising etc.
We had 2 viewers in 20 weeks of which neither were a fit for our property.

Everyone at the Winsford branch of Swetenhams has been outstanding. Special thanks to Matt. The advice we received was extremely helpful. The customer service has been top notch. They have been very proactive throughout our sale process and our search for our next home. I highly recommend Swetenhams. If I have one regret it would be that we tried to save a little money and find a cheaper solicitor. We should have kept everything with Swetenhams. The tiny cost saving we arguably made is massively offset by the pain and lack of service we received by going away from Swetenhams. Lesson learnt. Next time we'll just let Swetenhams handle the whole thing. Massive thanks.

Awful service took off the market and sold with another estate agents at which point they instructed a debt collection agency to chase their fee despite them not selling the house. Referred to the property ombudsman. Cannot advise strongly enough to stay away from Swetenhams. Absolutely awful.

We used Swettenhams Winsford for both the sale of our property and purchase of our new property, from the beginning to the end the service was at best poor.
The mortgage advisor Colin got our credit data incorrect, adding an additional 11k to our outstanding balances! When challenged on this he became defensive and unhelpful, to the point of aggressively telling me over the phone “even if I could find you a mortgage I wouldn’t do it!” In 30 years of working in the financial services sector I’ve never experienced behaviour like it.
We put an offer in under certain conditions that weren’t passed on correctly by the then manager - we were informed by Stacey that he’d been removed due to a number of mistakes and issues! We were miss advised regarding the type of valuation (we wanted a full valuation, but were told only a drive by could be done!).
A number of times we made calls to the branch only to be met with “I’m only covering I don’t know about your case” or “I’ve only just returned from mat leave, I don’t know about your case” or “I’m only admin and there’s no one to ask” but no follow call.
There seemed little urgency regarding our purchase, yet we were put under pressure to agree a date of sale of our existing property - more than a little odd considering they were acting for both sides of the transaction!
All in all I wouldn’t give them one star, but unfortunately it’s all I can do - avoid this company and this particular branch if you want a smooth, professional process!

Swetenhams Winsford were amazing from starts to finish Danielle Stacey and Colin totally run the show from our point of view.
The biggest asset to swetenham is Danielle Quinn she well and truly goes above and beyond her job role we had a large chain in our purchase so from sale right the way through she was informative her communication was amazing and I have to say she made moving house stress free at any point we thought it wasn’t running well we spoke with Danielle and we got all our questions answered. I can’t thank Danielle enough for all her hard work and as a family of 7 we are all smoothly moved into our forever home.
We also had a consultation with Colin for our mortgage again communication the friendly manner and information he gave us was so needed and not overwhelming at all. Calling into the offices durning lockdown were easy and we always reserved a reply. Totally wonderful team although we will never move again if the situation did arise and I’m we had to Danielle at Swetenhams is who we would go to for sure .

Overall I was happy with the service here. I found the staff replied to emails promptly and helped us to get things done when we had great difficulty with our solicitor's under performance. Mia at the branch in particular was fantastic, as was Gary at the Northwich one.
The two issues I had that could be improved on; I found during the initial pitch to sell our house we were promised more than we were delivered. We were told we could expect to have the house sold within 2 months (If I remember correctly, I dont think we'd had any reasonable offers from the 2 viewings we had in that time!) What we really needed was some honest feedback about the state of the house, a realistic expectation for a selling timeframe and what we should have been looking to sell it for. We only jumped in thinking of what we'd get based off that initial pitch from Swetenhams. We had to lower around 20k off our first price, but again we only put our price so high initially because we were led to believe it was achievable. I understand when it comes to stuff like houses, time to sell and value depend entirely on the market, but I felt a bit misled to get our business.
Secondly, Swetenhams recommended DC law based in Southport as our solicitors, and using them were honestly the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. I don't think we were a one off based off their reviews and I would hope Swetenhams has a rethink whether they still recommend these to their customers in the future. Luckily Swetenhams filled in the gaps left by DC Law, and helped move things along when it was needed.
All that said with my two fairly large gripes, I know moving is a stressful time, and was still happy with the service I received by them by and large.

We had our house on the market with an Online Estate agents who were absolutely awful.
Having dealt with Swetenhams in Winsford before; we decided to go with them as well. Not long after Swetenhams started to market our property we had an offer that was acceptable.
Our sale did hit a sticky patch; but fortunately for us Stacey McAuley had taken over as manager at the Winsford branch and helped to get the sale through. She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, helpful and most of all kept here cool. I have to give her credit for all the assistance she gave us.
