I was a landlord for ten years and dealt with Slater Hogg throughout that period. My experience was consistently appalling. I felt overcharged at every opportunity and never believed they were acting in my interests as their client. Quite the opposite—it often felt as though they were working against me. I repeatedly received information that proved to be incorrect or misleading, which caused unnecessary frustration and completely destroyed my trust in the company. An initial great pitch full of the most attractive of promises. The positives stop their from my experience with Corum Clarkston. During the sale of my property I was handed off from one staff member to the next. Their poor communication and substandard supply chain meant taking over a week to get on to the market. The team failed to meet a basic accessibility request for a viewer and struggle to get viewers feedback. I would strongly advise anyone considering Rettie Newton Mearns for mortgage or remortgage services to think carefully before proceeding. My experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. During my remortgage, I experienced poor communication, unnecessary delays, and a lack of ownership when problems arose. Issues with the handling of the Standard Security paperwork caused significant stress and wasted a considerable amount of my time. Despite paying a £549 broker fee, I did not receive the professional service I expected. In the end, I remained with my existing lender after going through an unnecessarily frustrating process. What disappointed me most was the way my complaint was handled. I raised my concerns and expected Rettie to acknowledge the shortcomings and resolve the matter fairly. Instead, I have received no meaningful resolution or compensation. My dealings were primarily with Roland Brownlee and Megan Gordon at the Rettie Newton Mearns branch, and unfortunately my overall experience with the service I received was very poor. Based on my personal experience, I would not use Rettie again, nor would I recommend Rettie Newton Mearns to friends or family. There are many mortgage brokers available, and I would encourage potential customers to do thorough research before choosing this branch.... Read more
