I experienced extremely disappointing service from Richard and his team during our recent purchase, and the contrast with our current agent has been stark.
On more than one occasion, Richard stated that he “works for the seller, not the buyer.” While I fully understand who instructs and pays the agent, such comments came across as dismissive and unprofessional. A competent agent should manage the transaction professionally for all parties and ensure the process is handled with care through to completion.
We ultimately withdrew after discovering the property was of non-standard construction, something that was not disclosed to us. This oversight cost me nearly £500 in fees, not to mention wasted time and significant inconvenience. It is concerning that an agent marketing a property was unaware of such a fundamental detail.
Once our offer was accepted, communication deteriorated noticeably. Calls were not returned, emails went unanswered, and when I raised this, the explanation given was that they were short staffed and someone else had been asked to respond on his behalf. This demonstrated a clear lack of ownership, accountability and professionalism.
