   Unfortunately, they couldn't find a buyer for my stunning flat themselves and had to enlist an outside estate agent, and had me stump up extra money to help compensate them. So they got it done after the end of the contact term, but it cost me £thousands more. This was after they earlier had asked me to agree to halt showings as demanded by an earlier (lower) offer that I reluctantly accepted. That buyer ended up walking weeks later, wasting precious time that could have been spent finding a real buyer. Estate agents are not your friend. No matter how charming they appear before their engagement contract is signed, once you sign it, they revert to their true mercenary selves, pressuring you to accept offers well below the very valuation they provided, because their only loyalty is to earning their fee.    After a long battle we finally sold our 17th century house through Fine & Country. Having been through two different agents, we hooked up with them feeling somewhat dispirited. They were different - they let us use some of our own content for a start which was greatly appreciated.<br><br>We worked closely with Mike from start to finish. What stood out for us was not just his professionalism and clear advice, but the fact that he brought humour and lightness to what can be a very stressful process. It made the whole journey feel far more manageable. Almost relaxed even.<br><br>Communication was excellent throughout — Mike kept us updated at every stage, was quick to respond to questions, and took time to explain the legal steps in plain English.
