Just like to share my recent house viewing on a property in Solihull with Burchell Edwards. Me and my wife have been viewing multiple properties over the last few weeks with some terrible estate agents with various companies, it was a complete breath of fresh air meeting with Sebastian Poole from the Solihull branch. He was confident, polite and knowledgeable with all details of the property and area. Every question we asked was answered fully I've been growing tired of estate agents showing us around properties without basic knowledge of the property and area. Really disappointed with my interactions with Burchell Edward’s, Solihull. After cancelling my viewings last minute I eventually got to visit one of the houses I was interested in. I placed an offer and the situation moving to best and final but I was unable to contact the branch, phones kept ringing through to answer phone and nobody called back! So I was unable to place my “best” offer, the best and final closure date kept moving! When I eventually did get hold of them they told me they had sold the property and had been trying to contact me - despite having no missed calls, no voicemails, no emails no records of contact from them. They also asked me what offer i was going to place then proceeded to tell me i had already placed it despite never being able to speak to them! I have lost out on a property I was happy to pay for. The seller has lost out on the best offer placed on the property. Sharks! ????... Read more

I had a very disappointing experience with the Burchell Edwards Solihull. The agent, Daniel Jordan who came from Burchel Edwards Solihull, to do the evaluation and after seeing the property he promised multiple viewings and a quick sale at a valuation of £600,000. However, after I signed the contract, communication ceased. He claimed to have lined up potential buyers and even planned a show home on first weekend, but no viewings took place. After multiple attempts to reach out to him. I escalated the issue to branch, and the manager, Asim, assured me that he would personally handle the matter and promised a sale within two weeks via modern auction route. That promise also wasn’t fulfilled, and no progress was made in the four weeks that followed. The lack of transparency and communication has been extremely frustrating, and I feel my time has been wasted. I now want to terminate the contract and move on to another agent. I would not recommend this branch due to the misleading information and poor communication.... Read more

Absolutely disgusting agency. Completely useless and utterly indifferent to buyers' interests. I wasted seven months of my life and £6,000 on mortgage applications, legal fees, and endless waiting—only to end up with absolutely NOTHING. For seven months, they did nothing , only to tell me at the last minute that my mortgage expired and the seller "won’t lose a penny." Their brilliant advice? "If you still want the property, just pay again and start over." They are a complete disgrace—zero accountability, zero support, and zero professionalism. Recently I have been through the process of buying my first property through Auction with Burchell Edwards. As this has been my first experience dealing with estate agents and buying a property I did have my concerns. However, after speaking and meeting with Luke Hinson, their mortgage advisor, I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. I strolled into Burchell Edwards on one of the worst days of my live. My husband had walked out on me & taken the kids – I was beside myself. I didn’t know where to begin with my property search, I haven’t sold/bought a house in nearly 10 years so as I walked into Burchell Edwards with my tail between my legs.. there was Harvey, he greeted me with a wide smile & a welcoming aura. He comforted me as he presented properties within my budget. He spent at least an hour with me, doing as much as he possibly could to comfort an old bird like myself. Selling a house through Burchell Edwards was an experience I never wish to relive. Had I not been resident abroad, BE would have lost the contract early in the process. Communication with the agent was hit and miss at the best of times and almost completely absent at others. The manager was completely incapable of keeping me informed and always managed to lay the blame elsewhere (among other things, he could not telephone me from the office because I have a non-UK phone number – however his colleagues had no difficulty). A number of defaults in the house were dismissed as insignificant – only when the sale became less obvious did he finally suggest calling in a surveyor… Had this been done earlier, I could have made repairs and received a better sale price ; as it was, time was against me (among other things, council tax levies 6 months post Grant of Probate). The handling of the legal side by Medway Law was no better with a similar level of communication. There appeared to be an ignorance of law, heightened by demands deemed ridiculous by HM Courts and Tribunals Service. Finalization of sale (by modern auction) was set by the date of notification of sale, 56 days, but there was no communication until the very last minute about how the finalization worked – despite repeated enquiries. This information was made known just 10 days before the deadline with a request for previously unmentioned documentation or documentation not demanded ; in my case, this documentation was at my home outside the UK and I was fortunate enough that my wife was scheduled to come to the UK just two days later… NEVER NEVER sell your house through Burchell Edwards modern auction system – it stinks.... Rented a house.. and had a wonderful experience. Swift from initial enquiry - viewing - all referencing and paperwork. All done and dusted within 7 days! No faff, with Amanda and Jess being impeccable throughout the process. Our referencing wasn't easy being two self employed persons, but the paperwork was put across and Amanda detailed everything we needed, and it was all approved. Keys and paperwork handed over, and we are away. Would reccomend to all either as a landlord or tenant, as i tried a number of other agencies during this process and didn't have similar experience elsewhere!... Read more

Do not use this company, particularly as part of a Modern Online Auction. Our contract was breached, the highest bidder did not have their mortgage in place. We had to wait two months over the contract date before we received any money for the house sale. I tried phoning Connells five times to put in a complaint and noone ever rang me back. There is so much more that could add but I hope I've got my message across.... Read more

well, as mentioned in the comments before, they won't accept your offer unless you go through them with the mortgage which is illegal etc. Super fishy, very slow communication, virtually impossible to get hold of anyone even to arrange a viewing. Do not sell your house through them, you will just lose potential buyers that are ready to pay more for your property but won't do it due to incompetence of the staff. I'm surprised no one action any legal charges against them , i'm sure that's illegal saying to buyers your offer won't be passed to the seller and you won't be recommended to the seller unless you go with the mortgage/conveyance through them...... Emailed requesting a viewing. Had a voicemail from them saying they understand I want a valuation. Erm no I want a viewing. Rang them back saying I wanted a viewing not a valuation. Evidently the wrong department but they would get someone to ring me. Nothing. I rang again to ask for a viewing on Tuesday stating I could do anytime Thursday afternoon or anytime at all on Friday, they said they would sort a viewing out and let me know. Thought it would be a straight forward process however unfortunately this estate agent doesn't seem interested in your offer unless you use their conveyancing service, which will set you back £600. There are multiple reviews about this on the Internet so this is clearly not a one off. For those unaware this is illegal. Complete incompetence and lies from the solihull branch, ongoing discrepancies, told me I wasn’t aloud to offer on one of their properties unless I used there mortgage advisor and solicitors, I just feel like a sales transaction, over 2 weeks now and they won’t update me on my offer, playing games, yet there still excepting viewings and reduced the cost of the house I’ve offered on, one excuse after another with no updates- avoid at all costs !!... I was encouraged primarily to follow the modern auction route. This proved disastrous with very few viewings, one offer which was below the minimum starting price. I had continual encouragement to lower the price further while other flats in the same block were selling for £20 - £25,000 more. Text book example of the cliché that is an estate agent. Flannel and lies. I would most definitely not recommend this one. Multiple levels and examples of incompetence and bad communication include; incorrect spelling and grammar on RightMove, not verbally addressing fundamental T&C's, overpricing the property, taking keys without authorization and leaving the property unlocked after a viewing. Unsympathetic and indifferent responses to valid complaints resulting in loss of trust. Escalation to Connells resulted in monetary compensation, but with an overriding level of flippance and insincerity. Avoid.... Read more
