What an absolute shambles of a company this is. I invited 6 estate agents to visit my home. Chancellors sent Matt from Basingstoke to a rental property I would like to put on the market. I picked Chancellors because of the brand and good reviews but I wish I hadn't. They sent someone to take pictures and they all look horrible, bad compositions, not reflecting assets or good points of the property. They took 1 image of the outside which even Matt agreed looks horrid. I have been sent other peoples particulars to approve then it does not relate to me. I get calls from this person, then that person and no one speaks to each other. Chancellors were sending another photographer out last week to take an image so we can go live today. I chased Matt who is now on holiday. The branch say its above there pay grade to deal with all of this. Really shocked and disappointed that for a straight forward progress of trying to advertise my home has turned into a right mess with unnecessary calls, e-mails and having to keep chasing. Avoid this company and stick with a local expert.

Fantastic service, in particular from Cathleen, she was able to provide extra time to allow my application to come through before she presented it to the landlord, and even though I wasn’t successful she even checked in and offered to send other listings that would interest me.

I moved in the property in March 2024 and as there were many damages in the house already, I started contacting Chancellor’s. There was absolutely no response from them even after contacting and mailing them multiple times as there was an urgency to get the damages sorted. All I was told was that they have passed on to the landlord and will take further action as soon as possible but again no response. This kept happening for almost 3 months after which they finally arranged a property viewing. On 5th June the agent came and uploaded all the proof of the damages somewhere on their system and told me that they will pass on this to the property management. (The person who viewed my property was very kind and she listened to all of my problems, understood everything so I think she has done her job great)
It’s been a month now and I am still hearing back from them. If this is how the customers are treated, then i would highly detract this agency.
Note: I have rated 2 stars just because the lady who viewed the property really cooperated well with me.

What a great experience I got from Chancellors in Basingstoke. I would recommend them to everyone. Thomas who is the manager was very welcoming from the moment I met him, he came to my property and spent a bit of time looking around and asking questions about the property so that he can feed back to potential buyers. I decided to use Chancellors because of the first impression of him. He asked me to pop in the office to meet the team. I met Fraser on a few occasions when he showed people around my property and when I went to the office, very very pleasant young man, always had a smile on his face and was very polite at all times. I met Nyah at the office and she came around on a couple of occasion to show people around. Again she was very pleasant, polite and always had a smile on her face. I got reassured that everything was ok with referencing after spending hours in the dysfunctional website they use for, I spent money buying white goods as the property was coming without them, they didn't want to put in writing that existing issues would be fixed prior to my moving in date ,I handed my notice to my current landlord just to be told that the current tenant changed their mind and they can't do nothing. Do you want to save yourself money, time and your sanity? Just ignore their ads

If you are reading this as a landlord, you don't have to look any further than Chancellors. Having had very poor landlord support from another well-known Lettings Agency in Basingstoke, I decided to perform a google search for a new agent. After reading the positive reviews for the Basingstoke branch of Chancellors, I took the step of visiting Simon Swanson at their office. I was greeted with a professional who really understands the lettings business as well as landlords frustrations, mostly around the topic of communication! Simon has many years experience in the lettings business and listened carefully to what I was looking for in a new lettings agent. As I am out of the country most of the time, I wanted someone who took ownership of the task and would help with finding a new tenant while the previous one moved out. Unlike the extreme dissatisfaction I experienced with my previous agent, the communication from Simon and his colleagues in both Basingstoke as well as their HQ support team has been exemplary. I haven't once had to chase anyone as they are fully on top of their apparently seamless processes. Even better, they soon found me a new tenant and even went the extra mile to get spare keys cut for them. The professionalism of Simon, the Basingstoke team and the other individuals (Piers and Olga) that I have dealt with at Chancellors has been an absolute pleasure. I can highly recommend Chancellors Basingstoke to any landlord, especially, if like me, you became a landlord by default. "Thank you" for managing 'everything' and allowing me not to worry. You took a huge weight off my shoulders! Highly recommended.

Me and my wife found a property we liked and wanted to move, in less than a week. As you can imagine, lots of paperwork to sort through.
However this process was made easy and to our convenience thanks to Simon Swanson. He helped facilitate our move despite being extremely busy from what I imagine. From the onset, Simon was transparent and went out his way to ensure the process was moving along swiftly. Simon was adamant about our welfare and made safety, suitability and process a top priority.
Finding a home to move into at such short notice appeared daunting at first, however Chancellors in Basingstoke were by far the most helpful and approachable. I recommend this branch to anyone as they have a great senior team who are always happy to go the extra mile.

Please think twice before selling with Chancellors.
Throughout our property search, chancellors have been the most unhelpful agent I can honestly say I’ve ever come across. They frequently list properties without an address, so when you call, the agents in branch have no idea what home you’re talking about. A call that should take two minutes seems to always take at least 15. They say it’s because owners don’t want their address listed online. From someone who worked in the industry for 5 years, I never once came across a seller who didn’t want people to know the address of the house they’re selling. Seems kind of counter intuitive?
They also persistently continue to list properties that are not available. I’ve called several times to be told homes are no longer on the market or the seller is taking a break. Why leave it on Rightmove then? To artificially inflate how popular they are in the local market is the actual answer - something their Reading branch is also infamous for.
There have been a number of properties they’ve listed that we would have been interested in, but because it’s SO painful to call them on every occasion, or we don’t even know if the house is even for sale, we now choose not to even bother.
We have since asked them on three separate occasions to take our names off their database yet they continue to call (GDPR breach?). At one point they even contacted us to rearrange a valuation on our home that we’d never booked in.
I rarely take the time to write these reviews, but our experience with Chancellors has been so bad that I thought it was appropriate. I couldn’t be any less interested in the fake response from them either, questioning the authenticity of anything in this review.

They are very difficult to get through. On their ads the properties do not list road name so when speaking with agents, you can’t be sure if you are on same page. This has happened to me few times. Once the agent spent 10 minutes looking for the house Was talking about and told me the viewing has been booked but on the viewing day I called them back to check and it was not booked at all. So when I see their newly listed properties, I just scroll past.
