I honestly cannot recommend Nez at Connells highly enough. Selling a shared ownership property can be complicated and stressful, but Nez’s exceptional knowledge of shared ownership made the entire process feel clear, structured, and manageable from day one.
What truly set Nez apart was her personalised approach. I never felt like “just another client” she took the time to understand my situation, explain every step clearly, and tailor her support to what I actually needed. Her empathy and understanding were evident throughout, which made a huge difference during what can be an emotional and overwhelming experience.

Nez Carey, the manager, sold it fairly quickly but unfortunately our buyer chose a cheap lawyer and Nez had to work her absolute socks off to get the sale through. The experience I had with Connells was honestly shocking!! The manager Nez does not know what she is talking about and is just rude, constantly backpedaling on what she says. I also dealt with a young man named Jack, he was always late to my viewings and my wife was showing them around before he even got there, he knew nothing about my property. I dealt with a lady called Sarah aswell, she was the only decent person there. She came before hand to get a look around my property and take notes on what we wanted to mention to our viewers and was always keeping us updated with the sale on our house. It’s a shame she is gone now, she was the only decent person there. I do not recommend!

*DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES*
Connells solicitors, Conveyancing Direct, should never be used, they have cost us thousands of pounds due to their severe lack of urgency and complete ineptitude.
Please do yourself a favour and just google them and see hundreds of terrible reviews, we wish we had, rather than just taking the recommendation of the mortgage advisor.
- This company are absolute amateurs, often taking weeks to reply to basic requests via email, almost never answering the phone, and never having the answers you need, often forgetting what was previously stated in calls/emails and never giving timescales for when he would complete critically time sensitive tasks.
- On several occasions our conveyancer lied to us about not receiving documents from the sellers solicitor and when called out on the fact he had received said documents would give us an excuse as to why he had missed it, never apologising or taking responsibility.
- We went to Connells to buy our first house which had no chain. This seems to be a very common theme with Conveyancing Direct to never prioritise cases which should be simple with no chain - our conveyancer had zero urgency and at every step let us down, we had to put in for a mortgage extension and even then he didn’t inform us of the outcome until 4:30pm on the day it expired.
- The lack of urgency meant that extension also expired and could not be extended again, meaning we had no choice but to apply for mortgage with far worse interest rates, which will cost us thousands extra over our mortgage term.
- Our conveyancer was completely incompetent, having to ask his manager on every decision, the only half decent service we received was when he was on annual leave!

The approach from Connells was thoroughly professional and everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Communication was excellent and we felt we were kept well informed at every stage. The marketing of our home was proactive and flexible in what proved quite a challenging market. Tom, the residential sales manager, worked extremely hard to keep both our transactions on track, liaising with all parties regularly and ensuring minor issues were resolved quickly. A chap by the name of Dylan called and pressed me to agree to a valuation after I made an enquiry. I have spoken to others at the branch previously over the phone without issue, but this chap became very rude for no reason whatsoever when I stood my ground and declined a valuation. As a matter of courtesy I explained I was not ready and I felt English people in MH could be more difficult to deal with when compared to people I was accustomed to dealing with in another part of the country. After a while, while I am talking as he was not accepting no for an answer, he abruptly put the phone down after saying all right mate. I am not his mate. He called me, was rude and put the phone down on me. I called back immediately and informed him that it was very rude. He became aggressive and stated I was racist, everything was recorded and Connells refuses to deal with me. I lived in a totally multicultural part of the country before for a long time without any issue whatsoever.Then why have Connels called me every month? I have not called them once.He also stated he was Indian. I have never met him and don't care if he is Indian. Why did he state that? If anyone raised the issue about race, it was him. A very rude and vile individual. I complained to Connels and three weeks on, no reply. As a full time landlord I have dealt with many Estate Agents, but this is the first to be so disgracefully rude and highly offensive. I have dealt with difficult agents, but nothing like this. I will inform others about my experience through social media and face to face. I take immense offense at Dylan's, and Connels therefore, totally false claim that I am racist. He simply could not accept my decision to not agree to a valuation and that caused him to become angry and abusive. I'm in my own home minding my own business. Connells calls me and is rude, abusive and puts the phone down on me incredibly rudely. So according to Dylan they call and record the conversation without informing you!! I can not recommend them at all. When Connels did reply after three weeks they chose to ignore certain questions. For example. The writer would not state if calls are recorded, as claimed by Dylan. I think he didn't know. As a full time landlord I'm familiar with estate agents but this is the worst I have experienced in 30 years. If you do chose them, you set the timetable and don't be pushed into anything. I'd stay clear though. But it's your call. Your money. Any hint of bad manners I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

We have been astounded at the level of service that Connells in Market Harborough has provided. My partner and I are in the process of purchasing our first home and could not have picked a better estate agent.
Tom has been incredible, managing to answer any and all of our daft first-time buyer questions and keeping us up-to-date with every part of the sale process. We can not thank him more; he has been exceptional, and we honestly don't know where we'd be without him.
Mellissa has gone above and beyond. She consistently manages to get all of our mortgage paperwork done the same day, is highly knowledgeable and always has her clients' best interests at heart. Above all else, she is a delight to work with and very approachable.
One of our favourite things about Connells is that everything takes place in-house, from finding a mortgage to surveying the property and brokering the mortgage, life insurance, etc. All of this information is available online through an intuitive user portal, which we can access at any time– giving us peace of mind. We are always in the loop, never have to chase for information, and are consistently impressed with Connells' team's fast-paced and thorough work. We really cannot recommend them enough, and any future property sales/lettings will now only be through Connells. We couldn’t ask for more!

how on earth do they get above 1 stars?
It shows how much power they got as I only dare complain after the sale is completed. Most unprofessional throughout, here is the highlight.
As background we need to know that they are the best paid party in the whole house sale industry, all other providers who work hard solicitors for example receive a fraction. they gained over 7K in this story while putting in next to nothing.
I wanted to buy a house. they were marketing it.
After viewing the property and making an offer I have been told they are not putting my offer through until I speak to their financial advisor. I told them I do not want to still pressed that they are not putting my offer through otherwise.
After giving in and suffering through their advisor and finally understanding they want to skin me more. I pay a package and another package so I can receive their team. “Otherwise the sale is not really going through.”
I said no.
Then came a few days of “well you did not go through our mortgage broker or solicitor and we need to check if this offer can be considered” etc.

Myself and my partner decided to go with Connells to sell our home. Our home is a section 106 affordable home, which means there is only a select amount of mortgage companies that will allow you to lend under this restriction.
We said from day 1 that there are requirements that the persons viewing will have to meet and also select mortgage companies etc. To start with it was okay, and then we started having people view the property under to buy to let mortgages. We explained that this is strictly a no due to them not being allowed this type of mortgage. This happened a couple of times but nothing major just a slight breakdown in communication.
We finally had a buyer! Our new home was due for completion in November/December so all was fitting well. Our mortgage offer took 7 weeks due to COVID so our buyers were waiting on us as our buyers used Connells mortgage advisor, whereas we didn’t. I had been told directly by their mortgage advisor that our buyers mortgage was all in place etc. Everything’s was going to plan and then their was a hold up, our solicitors made us aware that there was an issue with our buyers mortgage. Our hearts sank and we were completely worried. I phoned Connells to speak to the buyers mortgage advisor who advised me this had been sorted and not to panic and that she would contact the solicitors.
We carried on and we’re not getting anywhere, so we made contact with our buyers who advised they weren’t sure what was going on and go onto their solicitors.
Basically their mortgage offer had been retracted with apparently ‘no known reason’ we were advised this can happen etc. So our buyers were going to have to get a new mortgage lender. Conveniently the buyers mortgage advisor was on ‘holiday’ so no contact could be made (in reality she had left Connells but no one bothered to be truthful about this) and it was now Christmas. We had no sofa as had sold ours thinking we were moving and our new sofa was being delivered to our new property and our house was upside down as we were due to exchange/complete W/C 14th December.
After Christmas, we were directly told by the branch manager that our buyers had not made contact and had advised they were looking elsewhere and we should get the property back on the market (this was after me chasing and chasing). We sadly lost our purchase new build and lost roughly £7000 on upgrades/furniture (that is in storage as it doesn’t fit in our current home)!
We had no contact from our buyers until the other day, in which they explained Connells mortgage advisor had NOT declared or submitted the section 106 on the mortgage. When the lender found out from the solicitors THIS is what retracted the mortgage. They knew this all along and hid it thinking we would have no further contact from our previous buyers! I had asked repeatedly if this was the reason and was told no. We lost thousands due to their incompetency and lack of communication and a brain cell. We gave them exact lenders that had this section 106 mortgage and even spelt it out in detail the requirements etc.
We have decided to stop using Connells due to this, we had issues within the last 2 months trying to sell our home again in that there is 0 communication after viewings, allowing time wasters to look round our home, and now having ‘new members of staff’ do our viewings from what I believe is guilt from others.
If they had just done their job properly, we would’ve been in our new home by now. During this difficult time, that money sadly means we will struggle to find another home AND our help to buy ran out.
We have made contact with their head office asking for a compensation of the monies lost due to incompetency. The lies, and also trying to blame our buyers thinking we would never speak again. Horrendous.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even bother with this branch. Birmingham offices called me and were lovely so I cannot fault them.
Oh and to add, we asked for the for sale sign to be removed etc which has been done but still no sign of our key!

We have been so impressed how Lauren has gone above and beyond to help us with our house sale and purchase. She was extremely efficient in sorting out our mortgage, getting it agreed and processed in less than a week. She has rung us every couple of weeks to check on our progress and has always been productive in helping us get updates on our sale and sorting out any issues that may have cropped up. As our sale has been delayed for over a month we have felt disappointed by the lack of contact from the Branch Manager however Lauren's reassurance has been invaluable at a time of great stress. Superb and efficient service from Gavin (Branch Manager) and Amy Deacon (Negotiator) - my house was proactively marketed as soon as the photos and layouts were available and they were careful to screen potential viewings to ensure buyers were in a position to proceed. The first 3 viewings resulted in 2 serious offers and we accepted the one most likely to proceed. The conveyancing is now underway and Gavin & Amy are in touch regularly to check I’m happy with progress. Couldn’t ask for a better service!

Would not recommend. Poor communication. Released keys to a staff member without our knowledge. Property was empty & we were abroad at the time. A neighbour rang us to advise somebody was letting themselves in to the house. Couldn't contact agent to see what was happening as closed on a Sunday. Staff member had keys all weekend. They subsequently put in an offer £100 k lower than asking price!
Notification of offer had no reference to the offerer being employed bye Connells.
All very unprofessional.
We engaged another smaller agent Adams & Jones who have been fantastic. The professional service from them has been amazing.
Very young poorly trained staff which isn't their fault its down to Connells not training their staff to deal with the job.
My advice would be choose a different agent!!

First class service from start to finish. Jayne at their Market Harborough branch was not only very friendly, but highly professional, and proactive throughout the whole process. Within 6 days of our home being marketed, we had two viewings, and an offer. Connells Market Harbourough, I wouldn't recommend. There is no communication, they sign you up for 26 weeks and do not market your property as they should. The professional photographs you pay for are not professional at all and they end up coming out to take on an iPhone.
We had 1 viewing in 10 weeks and they made us drop the price for that and all they seem to want to do is to sell cheap and quickly. If they can't sell cheap then they can't sell.
We gave them 28 days notice to which they were supposed to be marketing to get it sold in this time but after 2 weeks they took our house completely off websites. They broke their contract and we will never use them again. Please don't use unless you want to sell cheap for a quick sale.
