Beyond useless. Have been trying to fix an over for 3 weeks. Where they do nothing but call the landlord, who lives abroad and doesn't care about the property. 3 weeks in, we had the contractor come in, and send them a quote. And now it's back to the beginning. Calling the landlord and hoping for the best. I don't actually understand what they manage. It is definitely not the property.
In the past I had an agency steal everyone's deposits. And they were better at their jobs then connels.
They do absolutely nothing, except making your rent higher.

I met Will Partridge, one of the Letting Agents guys yesterday and I was beyond impressed. I came very late for the appointment (20mins) because we were late at the GP Clinic for my son. Even though I called just 5min before my appointment to inform them about my arrival, and he has been waiting for long, yet, his demeanor was extremely professional and he was patient. That singular encounter made me feel honoured and excited to leave this review.

Arranged an appointment, The letting agent never turned up and I never heard back from the lady in question over the phone despite complaining about the no-show - she promised a call back but I got nothing. It has taken me a year to let my negative feelings of this place subside. Now that I have, do NOT use their conveyancers/solicitors. I used them because they told me that it would be a smoother process since they are in direct contact with Conveyancing Direct. It costed me more money, and they took 5 months of me consistently calling and emailing to purchase my home that had NO chains on both the seller and buyer side. Go find another mortgage manager. I should have known something was up when the mortgage manager that I was initially talking to was no longer working there. Maybe most of these agencies are not of high quality, but this one is surely not. Plus, I was supposed to get money back from the bank that we chose because it was my first mortgage and I did not. Instead, I got to pay Connells.

They keep inventing delays and reasons not to return my tenancy deposit for at least a month after my tenancy ended, instead of the usual 10 days. If you're a tenant, then be ready for a struggle to get your deposit back. And if you're a landlord, don't use this company; choose another one that treats tenants and their money better.

An absolutely faultless experience dealing with Connells. Although my purchase was a cash deal and therefore less complicated than others, the experience was second to none. I dealt with Jamie and Jake and my thanks go to them personally. Their communication is excellent, their professionalism is outstanding and their banter and ability to put a buyer at ease is remarkable.
I believe this is testament to their skills and personality, not taught by Connells, just naturally gifted and personable young men. I genuinely believe these guys will climb the career ladder quickly if life is fair.

Had a viewing booked this morning, no one turned up after 15mins, called the branch to ask where the agent was to be told they stopped viewings on the property yesterday. Confirmed booking with a time on email, what a complete waste of my time. No email or call to say the viewing was cancelled.

My experience with Connells, Shirley, in purchasing my first home was predominantly negative. The branch manager, Sam Binnington, exhibited unprofessional behavior and provided inaccurate information. During the bidding process, I was misled into a false sense of competition. Discovering Connells' deceit through a handwritten letter to the seller's door unveiled discrepancies – the sellers had not received my subsequent offers, and the value of my original offer was misrepresented, casting doubt on transparency.
Sam attributed these issues to 'communication problems.' Despite false claims of a higher competing offer, the sellers eventually accepted mine. The delay in acceptance led to a significant increase in my mortgage interest rate. Sam's actions remained unexplained, lacking an apology. I question whether my decision against using Connells' in-branch services influenced the agent's behavior and if service users receive preferential treatment. Alternatively, I wonder if the competing buyer was also selling their home with Connells, affording them preferential treatment.
Amidst the negative experience, Jamie and Jake stood out for their professionalism and courtesy.
Reflecting on this, I advise prospective buyers to obtain written confirmation of phone conversations with the agent, ensuring clarity and accountability in the property purchasing process. I only got the house I wanted by writing to the sellers directly as Connells obstructed me from buying it. Therefore, I'd also advise potential buyers to consider taking a similar approach if they have any doubts about transparency.

I wish I had not bothered instructing Connells. Despite how up and down the market has been I strongly think had we avoided them we would be in a much more sensible position.
I had a varied experience however these were some of the prominent issues we encountered:
The photos taken by Connells showed the 'For Sale' sign for a different sales company operating in the block.
I had to continually call Connells to enquire about how viewing went and what feedback had been provided by individuals who had viewed the property.
I had to call Connells to get them to put a 'For Sale' sign out because after approx 6 weeks it still had not been done.
I was called on one occasion and left a voice mail roughly two months into the sales process to discuss the marketing of the property. I called back having missed the initial call but did not get hold of anyone and did not get another call.
I attended the offices on a late Saturday morning to collect the property key and the 'closed' sign was on the door... certainly won't help sales enquiries...
Three months after having removed them as our agent I got a call from Connells seeing if I would like to put my property on the market with them...
They are utterly clueless about anything going on in their offices.

Shannon was very instrumental in helping us find the perfect accommodation for us and our little one. She was very meticulous and professional. She took time to understand our requirements and budgets. And we never felt pressured or rushed. We weren't just a client or a target. They were genuinely interested in helping us find the best accommodation we could afford. The communication was great, documentation was easy and not stressful at all, and all preparations leading up to the move was professionally conducted. Both Shannon and Stuart made sure everything was easy for us, and we are very grateful to both of them. Very very disappointing service. The most unprofessional company ever. They called us for a viewing and let us hanging and we literally waited for about 20 min outside the property and they didn’t even call to inform that the property was out. We had to call them so many time. So unprofessional and rude … learn how to work please, if there is something do let people know, we aren’t jobless people, to keep us waiting like this in heat. Be considerate of people. We travel so far and they didn’t even apologize. You guys definitely need to be given proper training. So unethical, you guys don’t even deserve 1 star.

They take your money and can’t be bothered to call you back or give you the slightest bit of help.
Anyone looking at using this “service” I’d seriously consider shopping around they are the most expensive estate agent out there and the customer service is shocking, they talk to you in code and quite frankly don’t want to help you.
And If your thinking of getting a tenant through them think again, there “vetting” and credit checks are clearly shocking and seriously needs reviewing.
So if you wanna be left in 1,000s of debt without one ounce of care or bother or help from Connells then they are the place to go!
I mean why would they help ? They got there money haven’t they. Good luck ????

In one phone call I've been left feeling worthless. There's no accommodation for disabled people no matter how stable their financial support is. Fraudulently want me to pay entire contract up front (who has 10k to spend on rent right now?) or I HAVE TO HAVE A GUARANTOR! Not everyone in this world has that. So, even though I've paid my rent on time for my entire life and can get every landlord I've had to attest as such, even though my credit history reports no defaults or debts, even though I have a guarantee of sufficient financial support from the DWP for the duration of the contract, NOTHING IS GOOD ENOUGH! The housing market in general, and Connells specifically, seem hostile to benefits claimants. Absolutely unreal how people are treated by letting agents. I've spoken to many, these are by far the worst. Change my mind Connells, I dare you...

Stay well away. The Shirley branch manager Sam Binnington encourages gazummping. Their mortgage advisor Lee Hounslow is not to be trusted with mortgage advice. Buying a house is meant to be an exciting time, they turn it into a complete nightmare. If you like throwing money down the drain, being lied to, and wasting months of your life for nothing. This is the estate agent for you.

As a landlord, Connells Lettings are generally Ok until a problem arise and then one could find them a bit slow dealing with it, may be due to the fact that they are a large size company.
This can be less of an issue, if the local branches could get directly and actively involved to deal with the different department of the company on behalf of their customers!

They've got the best customer service you'll find in that line of business. I would recommend them for first time buyers like myself being that unlike others, they explain every steps of the process and carry you along the way. Their viewing arrangement is also the best, imaging getting to view 3 different houses within our budget at a go. Lee Hounslow at the shirley branch is best experienced to take you through your mortgage affordability checks and come up with the best AIP from variety of lenders. Connells Estate Agents have been amazing and sold our Apartment in less than a week!
Jamie attended our Apartment and spent a long time explaining everything to us about how Connells operate, and how they would do their very best to sell our Apartment........
We felt very comfortable with his presentation and decided to go with Connells to sell our property.......
We then had contact with Ryan, who made contact with us regarding a possible interested party who wished to view our Apartment, we exchanged messages about the intended viewers, and as we were going away on a pre planned holiday, he would take possession of the keys to the Apartment, and show the prospective buyers around the Apartment.......
We had a call later that day from Ryan, telling us that the prospective buyers wanted to make an offer on our property! We were absolutely delighted to accept.
Ryan has been professional throughout the process, and went further and beyond what we expected when he arranged to help the wife of the proposed buyer, to the first floor by helping to carry her up the stairs as the lift is temporarily out of action, so she could see the Apartment, and undoubtedly with the way in which he dealt with this viewing, helped for the sale to be successful .......
I would recommend Connells as a very professional Estate Agents and our thanks go to Ryan Jamie and Claire for being excellent.

A fantastic experience with Connells. Jamie was superb from the valuation to getting my photos taken and the customer service experience was second to none. Once the property was on the market Ryan was on the case and got 3 viewings straight away and got a offer straight away. From that point onwards i had a very professional conversation with the mortgage advisor Lee and once again the customer service from the whole team there is amazing. Claire was fab dealing with the offer negotiations and getting a acceptable amount which we are more than happy with not only that helping us progress the property from start of the process to the end. 5* for them all. Would 100% recommend them to anyone who is thinking of selling their property.

Connells were without a doubt, professional, helpful and kind. I have just rented my first property with them and being new to the rental market I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. Amy, who showed me around the property was very professional but also very welcoming and kind to me. Another gentlemen, who I have forgotten the name of, but I often spoke to him on the phone was patient and understanding whatever my worry was. Bethany, who had to deal with most of my questions, who I don’t doubt by the end of our conversations was definitely fed up with me, but I was never made to feel bad for questioning things. Overall the lettings team that guided me through my first experience of renting a flat were so helpful. I would 100% recommend them and hope to rent through them again in the future!!

I have never had a very high opinion of estate agents and still don’t of most estate agents however these two totally shocked me. They were most helpful and went above and beyond in the help to find me, my husband and my daughter the right property.
Both Amy and Finley went out of there way to accommodate us, they are both really friendly, warm and welcoming with a fantastic positive approach, they truly do want the best for your customers (unusual for most estate agents) and have outstanding customer service skills, they are going to go far in life.
I have dealt with many estate agents and no one will ever live up to these two. They are a credit to your firm and I hope they get some recognition for what they do.

My partner and I found our first home through Connells. From start to finish they were great.
We had two viewings of our property and Amy was fantastic and made us feel at ease.
Due to a lot of delays (not the fault of Connells) our mortgage offer was on the verge of running out. Finlay took charge of the situation and remained professional, responsive and empathetic through out. I’d happy deal with Finlay and Amy again. They are a credit not only to the branch but also to the the company and I do hope that Connells see this and they are both given the recognition they deserve.

The letting of the property was handled swiftly by Bethany,Ryan and Luke, however the actual document signing via email was a complete muddle! I realise that there was some confusion on my part but the actual documents contained discrepancies eg. the tenant"s christian name is miss spelt , the amount of deposit taken differed from one page to another and the fact that the guarantor's agreement was not received until after the tenants were in situ highlight just a few points.
I now realise that the use of two email addresses confused the situation but surely just to put the name of the person to whom the email is directed is not difficult?
It is a shame that the document signing marred the whole experience and that the people on the coal face have to cope with all the problems for which they are not responsible.

Honestly quit shocked with the lack of professionalism. Booked to view a property for sale with this agency twice, and twice (after making arrangements to be there) couldn't get in. The first time around the agency didn't have the key so we were just standing there, ok fair enough it happens so rebook it only to then be there by myself agency didn't even turn up or phone me to cancel. So unprofessional zero consideration towards the client. Avoid. Probably worst agency in Southampton if you're looking to buy a house

I would recommend Connells letting Agents over the others in Southampton if you thinking of letting or renting. I've let several properties over the last few years and have yet to have a void period as they are that quick at letting my properties out. The tenants have been happy too as Beth and Andrew there are both professional and friendly.

Absolute worst Estate Agency there is. If you're reading this do not use Connells, they will rob you blind. Charging ridiculous amounts of fees initially before you can even secure the property and once my contract had finished took me 3 weeks of calls to get my deposit back and still haven't received it now. I would call up and they'd put me straight on hold, make up all sorts of excuses as to why I still haven't received my deposit. Threatened to take them to a small claims court and no one even bother to call me back.
