We have just sold our flat which, due to the market and banks, took a long time. In the end we sold by auction. At all times, Nathan, Matt and Shaun at the Saltaire branch were very responsive, pleasant, helpful, and willing to discuss and give advice on our next strategy. On more than one occasion, the help was above and beyond what I assume is their job description, for instance when the final completion was done in a rush, Nathan went round to the flat to check I had left nothing behind. I was really disappointed with the service I received from Matthew especially after using Dacres in the past and having an excellent experience. If I’m honest I would have complained following the overpricing of my house and assurance it would sell within days/weeks at the most and then the suggestion that there was further negotiation room to my buyers than there was (despite me telling Matthew this on numerous occasions). If it weren’t for the excellent service from Heather and Shaun I’d have complained and moved to another agent. Shaun and Heather were personable, took the time to learn about me as a customer, my needs/wants for my onward purchase as well as my property and both were a saving grace in this process. Fantastic members of staff and if you were to use Dacres Saltaire for your sale I’d recommend only communicating/dealing with them.... Read more

Matthew Fox from the Saltaire office came and did a valuation of our home, after we showed interest in one of their properties. Various comments were made along the lines of "we don't usually sell properties like this... We usually sell more premium", and then valued it £30k+ below other agents we'd had round (at the time of writing, they have 14 pages of properties for sale on their site for less than our sale price). The entire encounter was very dismissive, very condescending, especially considering we were shopping in a "more premium" price bracket. As it is, we've accepted an offer on our property, after 2 weeks on the market, at asking price, and have had an offer accepted at a Dacre competitor - we had zero interest in considering any more of their properties after that encounter. Either Matthew had no interest in being there and deliberately low-balled, or he's not that much of an expert in the Saltaire area. Whichever the reason, we would not recommend.... Read more

I just cannot get my head round the fact that how is it even possible you can take a property on your books, the customer that gave you the business is expecting you to give them the best possible chance to sell their property..then you don't pick up the phone!!, had to send an email too!!..Your reason when eventually I got through??..."sorry, we been very busy and was looking to email you back""!!!..I am sorry but this is not good enough and I will most definitely not have you in mind if I ever want to sell my property. I'm surprised by all the bad reviews. We recently brought a house through this branch of Dacre, Son & Hartley and had a positive experience throughout. Communication was great and the agency worked around our vendors tight timescale so as to avoid any issues with their mortgage, which meant we were able to complete in under 6 weeks. Been calling for a week to view a property. No sign of them being closed due to COVID either on their answering service, website or otherwise that I've seen. Left messages. Have to assume they're shut because otherwise this is easily the worst customer service I've received from a property agent.
