A very poor experience. We instructed Dacres in Guiseley and a key selling point they offered was the local branch network, as we wished to remain in the area. After taking our instruction they promptly closed the Guiseley branch - the agent of the retail unit has confirmed they exercised a break clause in the tenancy, therefore would have known they were closing the branch while telling us they had local knowledge and presence. This is frankly underhand, even in a profession which has a bad reputation. They failed to remove the For Sale board despite several requests to do so - at one point saying the 'board man couldn't find it' - despite the fact it was lying on the ground in the front garden. Avoid this agent - there's plenty of others. - As they closed the Guiseley branch I am leaving a 1 Star review on the earest local branches in the area of our property search... Read more

I instructed Dacre Son & Hartley Ilkley office, a long-established estate agents, to sell a house in nearby Addingham. It was valued by them earlier this year and I was advised that it should be put on the market late March/early April. After three weeks of viewings by 15 interested parties, Dacres advised accepting an offer at the asking price from a party who had a ready buyer for their own property. Completion was achieved in early July. The conduct of the transaction by Dacres was efficient and professional throughout. Coincidentally in the same month, on a Radio 4 programme about estate agents, which included a good number of horror stories, the overwhelming advice when selling a house was to use a well-established agency with good knowledge of the local area - which is exactly what I had done. We had a great photographer in Tim Mellin and our property was valued by an expert at Dacres who priced our property to sell and it did! Our place sold in less than 1.5 days after being photographed and going on line. It was bought for over asking price by the first viewer! We were absolutely delighted, I must say! Having just traveled for over an hour and a half to view a property to find the information totally inaccurate. No dishwasher as advertised ,or room to put one , no en-suite shower as advertised , not a gas hob as advertised. The property advertised as a block of 6 residential Park Homes but there was at least 12 and other holiday homes nearby. The gentleman that showed us around was pleasant enough but embarrassed when these points were raised and not very knowledgeable when we asked questions about the property. This was a complete waste of time viewing the property and very unprofessional service from the Company.... Read more

Very poor communication. Made offer at asking price yet Dacres didn't keep vendors informed and I had to intervene personally to stop others viewing and buying. My purchase has been delayed since end of October because new build ( being sold by Dacres ) is not fit for signing off. Have yet to get a completion date.. Not a word from Dacres since mid December! Am only glad they are not dealing with my sale!... Read more

A truly horrible experience as a tenant and purchaser. This was the opposite of what I expected from an estate agents. I would have hoped to have received from an established company a lot better service. Certainly, the same level of customer service as a paying sales client. When I raised my concerns i was told in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t a client (a purchaser) so would not be afforded the same service by the employee Virginia as the paying client. Extremely poor communication, even when escalated to the branch manager, who simply defended his staff and made no efforts to resolve a prolonged difficult purchase. The company were however willing to discuss my purchase with a 3rd party (my landlord) against all Data Protection regulations. Problem solving and sales progression was non- existent and I had to make suggestions and check progress to ensure that the basics were done. The company didn’t provide the basic care or attention despite this purchase requiring some prioritisation and escalation. Even upon completion the staff continued to be unhelpful and rude. Finally, I hope I never have to deal with the company again.... Read more
