Tom Yeomanson’s suggestion that I should try to market the property, ravaged by unanticipated structural work, ‘as a shell’ proved to be truly inspired – with prospective buyers flocking to take advantage of this perhaps rare opportunity. The team at D&G Balham, particularly Sian-Louise, were absolutely brilliant in getting our property to market and under offer asap. A lot of work went into getting the property prepared and staged with which D&G were a huge help. In the end we went under offer just fours days after going to market. What else can you say but job well done!
We also have some legal issues with the property which help up completion but again Sian-Louise and team were a huge support and helped us get the deal closed in the end.

I came across several of the team as I sought to let a relatively high end property. All the D and G team were very efficient at getting the house photographed and demonstrated on the web. The vetting of tenants was carefully and thoroughly done. I was impressed with the attention to detail for all aspects of the technical/legal elements of the letting process - I know that this puts the Landlord in a much stronger position should there be any difficulty. I have limited experience of other agents - D and G are significantly better. Alongside the very professional approach all the team were warm and encouraging communicating very well by phone and email. Although in discussion with the team they don't agree, I still think the initial suggested rental price was a little high - nonetheless we ended with a good rental income. Thank you.

We had a long road to travel. Our flat was a leasehold and the mansion block was going through a change in management companies. The new management company was desperately needed as the old one left the building with a list of repairs and maintenance. The flat is lovely but getting through all that was a longer slog than one normally goes through. Hannah sold our flat and was simply the best. She was responsive and always there for questions and queries from the us as well as the buyers. She orchestrated the process of offer to exchange to complete like a maestro. Also, it should be noted that we did have to make some adjustments to our asking price at the advice of Oliver the sales manager and it was exactly what was required to get the right buyers across our threshold. A great team all around and you will be in good hands.

During our search (to buy) we dealt with Joel - who really impressed us. Listen to our specifications, so we only looked at relevant places. V helpful advice (not just on the properties, but also with mortgages etc) and just a very nice guy.
We came close to making an offer on one of his places, but ultimately ended up choosing somewhere else. Nonetheless, he still offered advice on this other place(!) and went above and beyond even though there was nothing directly in it for him. Would recommend.

I would like to testify of Oliver Mason and his colleague Dave's brilliant job in the very complicated sale of my flat in Balham (due to a long negociation for lease extension prior to the sale). Oliver really made the extra miles for the negociations with the property buyers to run as smoothly as possible, always supportive, reactive and proactive. Regular reporting , in a very pleasant manner, both by Oliver and Dave were really important to me. Moreover, not being able to attend the flat at all for several months to a very important work load on my side and due to my geographic relocation, Oliver found straightforward, efficient and inexpensive solutions to some logistical problems (to fully empty the place and fix a fitted cupboard door), thanks to the help of Elvis. Both Oliver and Georgia did a great job throughout the process of selling my property. My partner and I trusted and valued their opinions - and overall provided us with a totally different experience from listing the property with another agent (who were unsuccessful for several months).
I genuinely believe that at this point we would not have achieved a sale with another agent.
It is a huge relief to have exchanged contracts so that we can start to plan our next move with some certainty. Being such a significant event in our lives- of course we found it very stressful, particularly being a difficult time in the market. Being almost at the end of the process now, I can really see the value of someone you trust, with extensive local market knowledge and a cool head to move the transaction forward- which they have done extremely well, without any hiccups whatsoever.
I have already sent my brother to his local office of Douglas and Gordon- and will definitely advise other friends in the future to do the same!

This review is only for the Balham office as I cannot comment on services provided by other teams and would not want to tar the whole company with the same brush.
Before I write of the misfortune I have had dealing with these cowboys I will first highlight, like all dirty dealers masquerading as professionals, the delightful team in Balham edit this review page. They remove any comments that expose the incompetence that I have found inherent in the branch and come back with a generic “happily 99% are highly rated”, censorship at its best.
Let’s start with the letting agent, far from guiding us through the process and assisting with any teething issues as soon as the dotted line was signed she was off before the ink was even dry. She would not return calls or emails and when we eventually responded she palmed us off on to another colleague and spoke to us like strangers not even making any sort of introductions to our new D&G point of contact.
As for our time as tenants, we have had FOUR property managers, each one as happy as the last to leave issues raised in good faith for weeks and in some cases months not even attempting to provide any form of customer service, updates or even basic empathy . Hardly the embodiment of what the D&G website refers to as “Your dedicated Property Manager” whom “will be on-hand to offer individual support”
To surmise, if you are happy with property managers who never get back to you regarding simple property maintenance , back and forth emails that result in nothing being done or being spoken to in a condensing manner by the letting teams, these are the agents for you. However, you may lose some of your deposit come the end of the tenancy from the damage to the buildings walls caused by hitting it with your head whilst waiting for your “dedicated” property manager to respond.

We are currently looking to rent in the area and although there weren’t any current suitable properties, he offered to drive us to see the area talk us through all the pros and cons! I was recently lost earlier this week in Balham. I was going to an audition and I had travelled all the way from Gloucester to London. I’m not too familiar with Balham and when I had arrived, my phone had died.
I was quite overwhelmed and I must have clearly looked stressed out, as this was a big audition and it was a call back. A lovely lady, I think her name was Georgia Eliot, kindly asked me if she could help in anyway or if I needed some direction.
I explained the situation to her and as she was on her lunch break she had dropped me off to my audition. She knew exactly where the audition was and she clearly knew the area very well, I couldn’t believe it! Thanks to Georgia taking the time out of her busy day and acknowledging me, I was able to get the part!!
I am so incredibly grateful. I hope Georgia sees this as I lost the bit of paper with her e-mail.

Placed an offer which was accepted a week before. All documents and references were provided with immediate affect and full amount paid.
Being a Lettings agent myself, I consistently asked whether the landlord had signed the tenancy agreements and terms. I was reassured he is old school and prefers pen and paper over electronic signatures and would be signing them shortly.
We were moving on the Saturday and we’re told the evening before that we could no longer move into the property we have just signed up for without any firm reason.
Being an agent myself I most definitely believe this situation could have been prevented. We were not given any help in finding a new flat.

Sales Negotiator Dave called out my property to a variety of local buyers in his diary, and we had several viewings on the first day our property went live. D and G proudly supported the Laitwood Road Street Party 2018, which Fiona and I organized. We couldn’t have asked for more. They were so helpful and courteous -Emlyn and his team kindly gave up their Saturday to come and help on the day! They were so reliable and had bundles of energy, which was greatly appreciated on the day and added to the electric atmosphere and the summer feel good vibe.
Having approached various other estate agents, D and G stood out a mile as they did not operate on a “corporate takeover basis”, which sadly so many of the other agents in the area did.
