This review is written from my point of view, as with everything there are always 2 sides of the experience. I wanted to take the time to share mine, to warn and help future first time buyers and give an opportunity to the team at KF to improve.
TL;DR:
1. Do not sign any contracts and send personal documents just because an agent pressured you to do so without asking your solicitor
2. You don't have to go to the solicitor an agent is insisting on
- We bought our first property through Knight Frank; the agent attending to us was very responsive, easy to talk and extremely helpful, could be able to answer all our questions
- I was told that the owner of the property we bought was a very difficult person (?)
- We decided to put an offer and our offer was accepted at the listing price. We then got a call by the agent, saying that there is another cash buyer and we have to increase our initial offer by £15,000. We did and our offer was accepted for the second time.
- I guess we will never know if there really was a cash buyer, if they put an offer or not
- When choosing our solicitor, we chose a cheap one in Birmingham. The agent insisted us to use the one he is recommending and told us we won't be able to finish on time (we did)
My issues started after our increased offer was accepted.
- The agent called me and told me we need to put £10,000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to the owner's name and if we cannot complete the purchase in 6 weeks, we would lose that £10,000
- I naturally refused to pay a non-refundable deposit and at that point, the same agent that showed us the property started to shout at me on the phone (Where did this nice person go?) and then just hanged up when I was talking
- I contacted our solicitor and asked if this is a regular practice, solicitor strongly recommended against signing any contract of that sort
- Please note that this is not the deposit for the flat, this is a deposit until the contracts are signed, so that the seller would not accept another offer (of which will then go to the actual, legal deposit, if you can complete in 6 weeks miraculously)
- Then I received another call upon the completion of Memorandum of Sale, demanding our bank statements and proof of funds such as our private and confidential investments. I did not understand why this was required for the estate agent and I was pressured to send these immediately - via an email.
After I raised my complaints to the team, they were very understanding and apologetic; reading all of the positive comments they received, I feel very bad leaving a bad one. However, I hope my review helps people in the future.

Absolutely awful experience with Knight Frank. They let a property to us in Hampstead London for £850pw without a connected gas supply and without a gas safety certificate. We were supplied with one door key (despite 3 adults living at the property). We were not supplied with a access fob to the car park and weeks after moving in still don’t have one. The rear gate to the back yard has no key and has open access to the public.
There are an innumerate number of other problems (no TV aerial connection, dangerously attached light fittings, incomplete construction work, defective alarm system, broken air conditioning units etc).
Absolutely shocked that a company like Knight Frank would conduct business in such a manner. I reported to the head of the office, Mumzad and have not had an apology or acknowledgment of their failings. Shocking

Knight Frank are hands down the best agents in Hampstead. Covid & Brexit have made it a difficult market for prime London but Katy, Dan and the rest of the KF team have rose to the challenge & exceeded my expectations. This is a review specifically for Steven Gilbery at Knight Frank (although no doubt he has a solid team behind him), and is a rare pleasure to write, simply because I've never thought that someone was so beyond the norm of their profession before, and thoroughly wanted to thank Steven for how exceptional he has been.
The short version is that Steven is less of an estate agent, and more of a premium boutique end-to-end 'find your perfect home' fixer.
In contrast to every other estate agent we encountered, who at best were forgetful about following up, and at worst transparently looking for the quickest sale to line their pockets, Steven:
* In person is exceptionally courteous while also being 100% matter of fact. He radiates integrity.
* Maintained a daily conversation (without being intrusive) to keep us up to date on any new rentals, before they hit the open market.
* Even though we were using other agents, would politely follow up to make sure everything possible was been done to keep our wider search moving quickly.
* Genuinely listened to, and understood, all the intricacies we were seeking, especially around quietness (and I appreciate this is very annoying, as every prospective tenant always wants the world for cheap!). As a consequence of that understanding, he found us a rental so far from the standard for London, but perfect for us, that we'd never have found it alone.
* When the necessary pain of dealing with 3rd parties to fill in forms, and be vetted - and getting existing landlords to act - he personally stepped in to both shortcut the process by removing bureaucratic steps, and took it upon himself to handle chasing the old landlords on our behalf. Shortening a frustrating week-long process down to just a few minutes for us.
There is literally nothing more Steven could have done to take every hassle out of procuring our new home, and in truth, probably enabled us to find something we'd never of found without him.
I couldn't recommend a professional more highly.

I was looking for a rental property close to Hampstead village and looked at one flat with Steven Gilbery. He wasn’t convinced it would be the right fit for me but we went along anyway. After that and knowing what I was looking for he was completely on the front foot getting in touch about flats coming to market. Within 2 days I was the first to view an amazing garden flat and snapped it up from there. He was brilliant at keeping the momentum going throughout the process and took a lot of the stress out of the situation. Definitely recommend!!

This is the reason: I am not a client of the agency and was in need of legal advice on my housing situation, I therefore contacted the agency by mail asking for advice. I proposed to pay them for the advice. Jordan replies "Thank you for getting in touch and don’t worry there will be no cost for advice", then writes 5 whole paragraphs of help on my situation. The next morning I need urgent advice and decide to call him (remember I am not a client), he calls me by name and we talk at the phone for more than 10 minutes. He also sends me a certain example of a clause that I needed to see.
He is definitely the person to whom you want to work with. Thanks Jordan.

I got lucky. Real lucky. I found Ben Read from Knight Frank one afternoon on the second day in London having recently moved from New York. I didn't have a phone, a bank account, an NHS number, but I had a vision for what I wanted. I believe he answered an inbound email query on one particular apartment, but our relationship didn't start and stop there like with most agents. We had a considerable dialogue regarding what I was looking for and we exchanged various listings to show each other that we had similar goals. Ben took on the effort of reaching out to these listings - even if they weren't his own - to ensure he could show them to me as my agent. This was critically important as it reduced time and enabled us to reach conclusion faster. I found the apartment I'm living in now in 1 day. Made the offer and moved in a week later. Moving to another country isn't easy, but my experience in finding my place really was, thanks to Ben.

Kris Smith was determined to sell our property in a difficult market and he succeeded. He left no stone unturned in his efforts to find a buyer. It created footfall and so the property was viewed by many. He followed up viewings, gave feedback so where improvements could be made we were able to do so.
The eventual buyer was someone he had phoned every few weeks who was persuaded to see the property again . This resulted in a 24 hour exchange and completion within a month.Relieved and happy sellers and a satisfied buyer.

We recently had the most wonderful experience in this particular branch. From the moment we walked in we were greeted in a very positive and professional manner by the young lady on the front desk; and this continued all the way until we eventually left. We were given lots of local information from schools to events within the community which was very important to us and not just the 'hard sell'. They helped us with our pram and bags, kept our two kids occupied while we were discussing our criteria, and offered us a hot drink which was needed coming in from the rain. Where so many estate agents have a tendency to be intimidating when you enter their offices, Knight Frank Hampstead were the complete polar opposite which was so refreshing and will be the only agent we register with in this location.

I would like to express just how impressed I am with Knight Frank Hampstead. A lot of the time with big name agencies, the brand carries the negotiators but this is not the case with the team here.
I work on behalf of Landlords in the area and the negotiators and management at KF are personable and knowledgeable and hold an extremely high level of professionalism whenever I have dealt with them over the course of the last few months.

Excellent experience. Jordan listened carefully to our requirements and tailored his search for our flat appropriately. He didn’t show us any flats outside of our budget or specification as we had experienced with other estate agents.
He was pro-active in chasing down paperwork from the managing agents and landlord in order to ensure that completion happened on time.
He responded professionally and promptly to emails; we always felt that Jordan was on hand to answer our queries.

I was recommended by my neighbour to use Katherine Reynolds and Ben Read of Hampstead to assist us let our 2 bed flat. I am glad that we did use them. They are highly professional, extremely efficient and respond in a businesslike and friendly manner. The property was beautifully marketed, viewings professionally handled and the process expertly supervised. It was let within 2 weeks. I have now asked them to assist with another property. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Always a pleasure to deal with Knight Frank. My last experience was on walking towards the entrance to their Hampstead office, I saw this charming young lady on Reception beaming at me even before I had walked in! She then saw to it very quickly that I spoke to the relevant person/people - who were equally pleasant, welcoming and efficient! Laura - the Office Manager is a particular breath of fresh air. Always such a pleasant experience - I'd recommend anytime!
