Ocean Lettings are a joke! We are tenants and they have treated us appallingly, they rented us a house with a door that didn’t lock and then tried to blame it on us - a complete failure to treat tenants with respect and lack of concern for our safety. Would not recommend using them in Bristol.

We remortgaged with Ocean Mortgage Services:
Unbeknown to us our mortgage advisor extended the term of our mortgage without our consent.
We’ve also ended up borrowing more than our settlement amount from the previous lender due to not obtaining latest redemption figure.
We’ve received two monthly mortgage payments back from the previous lender because of the mistake on the deal obtained by Ocean.
We are now faced with paying refunded money from previous lender to the current one to try and rectify the situation and also rectify mortgage term which will take us past our retirement date.

Jenny Green and Tom Windaybank from the sales team at Ocean have been absolutely amazing throughout our house purchase.
They’ve both been really proactive at talking to everyone involved in the chain - the sellers, the solicitors, and us as the buyers - to keep things moving along.
This proved to be incredibly helpful for us, as we did have some communication issues with the solicitors. Jenny and Tom consistently went above and beyond to keep us in the loop and help us to chase things up. Being able to rely on them made the process so much easier to deal with. Without Jenny and Tom, I genuinely think we wouldn’t have exchanged and completed until next year!
We can’t thank them enough and we’ll definitely be looking to Ocean again the next time we want to move.

From the onset of searching for flats to rent in Bristol, Ocean Estate agents have been by far the best! Initially, I was struggling to even get a viewing and they helped with signing me up and once talking through my preferences, immediately suggested a property which I have since viewed and gone for. Sophie particularly has been incredibly helpful - she confirm the initial viewing (which is always re-assuring), conducted a good showing of the flat providing lots of information and has since been responsive in any queries sorting the lease. Couldn't recommend Ocean and Sophie anymore.

I can say with confidence that Ocean Lettings are the best agency in Bristol. With many other agencies allowing people to skip the queue and put in an application without a viewing, Ocean doesn't let this happen. The lettings team were initially helpful with arranging our flat rental. However, when looking round the flat we were ensured we'd be able to use the outside space and all the rubbish would be cleared before we moved in. This still hasn't happened over 2 months down the line of living here and we've now been informed we can't use the outside space full stop. This is among countless other issues we've had to deal with.

The staff we spoke to at the store were lovely and we had been offered a house within a few days, we went on to apply and send a deposit of over £300. However 13 days before our move into the property I was told that the landlord had changed his mind, and I would be sent the deposit within 48 hours. No explanation given and this has left us completely homeless as we were assured that this move would go ahead, even as far as being told to book WiFi fitting, which is non refundable. I eventually received my deposit 4 days later, after coming in person twice.
This has costed us nearly a month of effort, around £200 in moving costs and left us short of £350 for over 2 weeks. We now have less than 2 weeks to find somewhere to live, and right before Christmas too. Leaving us to tell our 17 year old that he may not have a home for Christmas.
Shame on them for leaving a family in this situation.

We called Jamie Ashford from Ocean, as our current agency bristol-based agency was not completing anything required of them to let our house (the process had been going on for two months), and to be honest, we were both deflated and fed up. I called Jamie at 11 am on a Wednesday morning, and by 2:30 pm the same day, he had met us out our property in Bristol. Professional photos and videos were done, and he went through the entire process. The next day we had a block viewing and new tenants for our house!! He did the job in less than two days. We weren't bombarded with emails or questions, just points we had to know or documents to sign. We cannot recommend Jamie and Ocean estate agents enough if you're thinking of letting your home. 10 out of 10 service all the way, thanks Jamie!

This can be a daunting prospect with lots of paperwork and complex arrangements to make, and Jamie A and his colleagues have put up with our mundane questions and odd requests with good humour, patience and forbearance (to match a snappy dress sense....!).
They have found a well-matched tenant, and used good judgement and their knowledge of the market to help us get the rental return we need without setting unrealistic expectations.

I was recently searching for a property in Bristol to rent and as we all know finding a home in Bristol can be a problematic to say the least. However once finding Ocean Estate Agents all of the pressure was lifted off my shoulders, upon viewing I was told that we were 1 out of 6 viewing the place and that they would not take anymore viewings so as to give us a chance before the flood gates opened, I was even reassured that I could keep in contact with the agency regarding any more properties in the area. Overall my experience was wonderful and I believe the one to thank for that is Georgia Alder, she was kind, sweet and welcoming. This agency has made our move to Bristol a horrible experience and has ruined our family life for the past three months. When we moved in the house was fihlty, the heating and hobs were not working, and after a few days we found a roof leak (the smell from dampness was truly disgusting). I have two young kids and I am concerned about the effects the high humidity in the house is aatffecting their health. Clothes in wardrobes and bed sheets always feel wet no matter how long we leave the dehumidifier on for. Please stay away from.this agency and never rent 8 Berrow walk. These people do not check whether the properties they are letting are fitto be lived in.

Highly recommend using Ocean Estate Agents, Southville, for any home purchase. They were responsive and transparent throughout the entire purchasing process from day one. The house viewings are professionally managed; Rhia was very useful showing us around a number of properties, as were a number of other members of staff who were informative and welcoming without being forceful or creating a rush. Carrie, our Move Manager, was particularly helpful and was always on the ball chasing for updates, even when things became cloudy, unclear and a little bit frustrating at points (at no fault of Ocean).
It's somewhat unfortunate for Ocean that the majority of people will end up picking a home through Rightmove without any consideration of the estate agent; seeing that a home is sold through Ocean as an estate agent would be a huge factor in influencing me to purchase that property in the future.

I had a very disappointing experience with Ocean. I viewed one of their properties and called straight away to request an application form to be sent, so I received an email asking for contact details so they can pre-populate the form.
Didn't receive anything so I contacted them 2 days later to ask for an update to which I only got a 'We'll contact you in due course' reply.
Still no one got in touch so I had to once again follow up and that time I called the office but the person dealing with that property wasn't in so I was told again that they will contact me back. No call or email again.
I had to chase them up a third time only to be told that the property has now been let!
I can't even express how upset I am because I've been looking for the perfect house for months and now that I had found it I wasn't even given the chance to apply for it.
I'm appalled by the complete lack of professionalism. Letting agents should be a bridge between owners and tenants not an obstacle!

Couldn't care less about prospective tenants. Didn't show up to a viewing in Totterdown, left me standing in torrential rain for 20 minutes. Nobody in the Southville office answered the phone, when I called the next day to rearrange I had no apology or explanation, was simply told 'oh that ones gone already'. A bit of basic decency surely isn't too much to ask?

Great experience overall, Howard showed us through two flats in close proximity and was able to answer all queries, even recognising me from a viewing a year before. 100% Professional and recommendable.

Although I didn’t rent the house I was viewing, I was impressed by the service given by Ocean Estate Agents. The agent was on time, polite and friendly – without being over-familiar. It was fantastic to be greeted by someone who smiled. I thought that was no mean achievement given that I was the last person to view the house on a bleak and cold day.
Throughout the viewing, the agent was realistic, and neither under or over sold the house: they were accurate. They also gave good general advice to myself who does not know the city well.
I would use, Ocean Estate Agents in the future, and would recommend them.

I have used the team at Ocean, Southville as both a buyer and seller and can’t rate them highly enough. Everyone I’ve encountered there has been professional, incredibly helpful, and honest and they work together as a strong team.
I’m always impressed with their local and market knowledge, expertise and fantastic service levels. They do what they say they will do, you feel like you’re in very safe, caring hands and that you are valued throughout all stages of the process. What can be a stressful time becomes less so with the clear and detailed support they provide. I have always been kept up to date with what has been happening, calls are always returned, queries always answered promptly and everyone is friendly and genuine.
Claire in particular has really impressed me - she works hard for me, the client, has shown outstanding customer service, great attention to detail, and a brilliant attitude. Her extraordinary account management skills mean she takes care of everything, in her stride, and in the most helpful and friendly way. She knows her stuff and has gone above and beyond for me.

I wasnt looking forward to dealing with estate agents when looking for a house as my past experiences were far from perfect. The team at Ocean Southville have changed my opinion and i can honestly say "not all estate agents are the same". I always received a warm friendly welcome when I visited or on the phone, and i really felt the whole team were looking out for me and my interests. I dealt with most people in the office at one time or another and all of them had a good understanding of of my purchase at their finger tips. Claire the Move Manager was brilliant and always kept her promises. Even when things got tricky she was calm, helpful and sensible (something i wasnt). A great all round experience moving me into my new home.

- That's great, however that's not the experience I had. So unfortunately this doesn't reassure me.
You stated "We are sorry you are disappointed with the level of service received during your tenancy. Your case has been referred to Ocean lettings and management's Director for full investigation. You have raised many points and we would want to comment on each fully ASAP"
- Thank you for escalating this to the lettings and managements director, I will be more than happy to answer any questions they may have and provide information to aid the investigation. I should note, we are approaching 2 weeks since i wrote my initial complaint and I have had no contact from any member of the Ocean team regarding this. Given my experience with Oceans timescales / customer service, I am slightly concerned that my complaint hasn't been taken seriously.

We were impressed by Ocean when we bought our house a few years ago. So when we decided to sell we instructed them to act on our behalf. The photos they took were excellent. Tom Windaybank was very helpful in answering our questions. He also did a great job arranging viewings and showing people round (we accepted an offer within 2 weeks of listing). Claire O'Neill was our "move manager". She really helped with chasing everyone involved to get the sale complete.

Rented a property through Ocean for 18 months in the Bristol area.
Unfortunately had an extremely poor experience with Oceans management of the property. This included:
- Boiler breaking during an extremely cold period in the winter leaving us without hot water and heating. Ocean / Their Contractor took over 4 weeks to fix this and repeatedly claimed 4 weeks was an adequate time for the repair. They did eventually admit they had made an error however due to a change of property manager refused to make any offer of compensation.
- Dishwasher broken for over 12 months. Despite repeated requests to Ocean to repair the broken dishwasher, this was not done until 2 months prior to the end of our tenancy.
- Main light in front room broken throughout entirety of tenancy. Same problem as above however this was never repaired.
When it came to the deposit Ocean were extremely Contractual in making deductions. Given the problems we experienced above we were disappointed in Oceans stance on this. I tried to reach a settlement explaining that given the problems we'd experienced previously, they might want to be a little less harsh on deposit deductions. I was told that these were separate issues and id missed the boat with regards to compensation for the boiler.
Unfortunately this is an all but familiar problem experienced with a number of estate agents who lack the ability to behave in an ethical manner. Ocean appear to have forgotten that tenants are still customers who deserve a certain level of professional service rather than be exploited for financial gain.
