Unprofessional Conduct & Missed Appointments—Unacceptable Service.
Twice now, I’ve attempted to get a valuation from this office, and twice, it's been a disaster.
April: I canceled my valuation via email, yet the valuer still showed up—right as I was heading to an important meeting. Clearly, the staff failed to communicate internally.
June: This time, my valuation was confirmed, yet the valuer never showed. No call, no email, no text—nothing. Completely unprofessional.
When I called to find out what happened, I was connected to the same valuer, who outright accused me of booking multiple valuations. False. A complete fabrication. It’s clear he decided to leave me hanging as some kind of petty revenge for the first canceled appointment—an error by his own office, not me.
To that valuer: Grow up. This isn’t a playground. It’s a business, and you’re supposed to act like a professional.

I have just been stood up for a viewing with William H Brown, which I had booked with the Banner Cross office.
I rang the office after waiting outside the property for 10 minutes, and was assured that the agent Hayley had my number and was on her way down to see me. I rang again after another 10 minutes and was told the same again.
I rang a third time after I had waited half an hour only to find that they had closed the office and gone home! I have just given up and gone home after an hour of waiting and no communication. Extremely disappointing and very unprofessional.

As a first time buyer I had the bright idea to buy an auction house with no idea what to expect or what to do.
The first contact I had was with Brooke and she was ever so clear and helpful, she listened to what I had to say and she cared, Brooke pointed me in the right direction and gave me the confidence to go ahead with the bidding of the property.
Once I won the bidding I chose to go get my mortgage via William h brown, my mortgage broker was Ela. She really was the calm through the storm. I had a nightmare with the bank but Ela helped me though it, she reassured me with every step. When things started to go south Ela fought for me to the best of her ability. I can not recommend Ela enough. When I needed her she was there, always answered the phone, quick with replies to emails. She really did have my back.
I am ever so grateful to Brook and Ela. If there is anyone out there considering to buy a property with this branch, do it! You really are in safe hands. Speak to Brook and Ela they were my dream team and I hope they can be yours too!

I had a appointment booked a week in advance and when I got to the house there was no one there. I called the estate agent up to know what's happened only to be told they hadn't realised I was booked in. I thought okay mistakes happen I wasn't particularly pleased but really interested in the property. I booked a appointment the following day and got a call from the estate agent asking if they could reschedule the following day again I agreed. Now this is today I got a call again from the estate agent telling me they had another issue and couldn't be at the property again. This was really unprofessional and from the reviews they already have it shows how incompetent William H Brown estate agents are.

To all house buyers, please read this if you’re considering buying house through this estate agent.
Around one year ago, we were interested in a house and the seller A accepted our offer.
Then after over half a year, almost all the procedures went through, the seller's solicitor stopped replying to our solicitor but reassured that they're sorting the last enquiry out.
After one month, the estate agent contacted us that the seller declined to sell the house and the staff from the estate agent apologised quite sincerely. Someone senior from the estate agent gave some information of a similar property around the same area to us.
We both found this house quite met our expectation so we expressed our interest and the house seller B accepted our offer within one week.
As this house B is a no chain house, we expected the procedures can go through more quickly than last time. However, the enquiries have taken more than four months and there is still two outstanding enquiries. We did try to ask what the last two enquiries were but not getting any response.
Also it's a liar as the house B suddenly becomes a chained property during the conveyancing process.
Guess what. The seller A also sold the house through this William H Brown company. What a great liar!

Unfortunately our previous mortgage advisor left the company so we were passed to Luke who unfortunately carried out a mortgage application with a 20% deposit when we specifically stated that we could not afford to do this. Now we are £15k out of pocket from the sale of our previous home. There are far better mortgage advisors out there who charge a lot less than they do!! Stay clear!!

Do Not Use Bannercross William H Brown.
I wish I’d looked at all the other reviews before going with them because the negative ones are spot on about this company.
They lock you in a 20 week contract. (which is way longer than other estate agents), they do this as they aren’t the best at their job.
Kate will be all nice and positive to get you to sign the contract but as soon as you do you’re in for a shock. She’s rude, she ignores emails, gets the staff to say she’s not in the office, she’s a full on liar.
They will get you a few viewings and after that they will basically leave you hanging as they know you are stuck for 20 weeks.
My partner rang for a way to move forward with selling my house, she was welcomed by a sarcastic, patronising Kate. My partner is 28 weeks pregnant and this upset her.
Keep well away from this company if you want to sell your house, I promise you now you will regret it.
I will go to the ombudsman over this and the regional manager of William h brown to get out of this contract.

Recently sold my house with William H Brown in Banner Cross. From day 1 I had an amazing experience dealing with them. I had Lisa S. as my first point of contact and she never let me down. Always on hand to answer questions, if she didn't know the answer, she found it out and came back to me with it. Was always happy and positive and just eliminated all of the stresses of moving. During the whole process I dealt with others in the office, but on completion Lisa contacted me to make sure everything was ok and I was happy and settled.
Cannot recommend this branch highly enough, and ask for Lisa if you need to sell your house! Amazing customer service. Thank you

Living opposite this estate agents and watching the staff constantly huddled outside their doorway smoking, dropping their cigarettes where they please and causing havoc parking their vehicles on curbs with double yellow lines which is dangerous, does not give a good impression. Your staff constantly use permit holders spaces. One elderly neighbour (aged 80) who has paid for her own disabled bay has one of your staff members constantly using her bay and becomes abusive if we ask them to kindly move so the lady can park and get in her home, the lady is immobile and can’t walk.

Unprofessional staff and poor communication when selling my property which could have lost me the sale. Thankfully didn't - despite Kate and the team at Banner Cross. No emails or phone calls from them for weeks with updates. Refusal to chase the other side and communicate urgency with the excuse that it's the solicitors job to do that.
When I finally met the seller in person he was astonished that I felt any urgency to sell the property as that had never been communicated to him.
The communication was absent to the extent that they didn't tell me when the completion date was scheduled for, and, after completion didn't ask me to come in and drop the keys off. It was a total stone wall.
I'd advise taking your business elsewhere if you want to have a supportive, helpful team. Hopefully there'll be some changes made at the branch to improve things in the future.

I have been dealing with This William H Brown since January and whilst the girls have been lovely and have tried to ensure smooth sailings, what I can’t forgive is there recommendation to PM property Lawyers which they suggested to my buyers! They are aware of there reputation and aware that it will cause delays but still recommend the company. I would suggest you use This branch but DON’T BE REFERRED TO PMPL. You may never actually move if you do
Update - I’ve increased a star thanks to Kate the manager who absolutely took control of PMPL and made the completion happen.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AT ALL COST!
Staff members have been very rude after asking simple questions such as trying to arrange a viewing. Not only was front staff rude but also the manager Debbie just cut the call off and then refused to attend the phone later when I tried to call back. When asking about whether members of staff should use this tone when speaking to customers she seemed to believe it is acceptable. Members of the team are not even aware of simple business procedures on how to submit a complaint. They do not even know which regulatory body they are part of it took me 6 calls to establish that. They do not seem to be connected as a business across their branches and one even gave me a number of an another estate agency who was more helpful then them.
Staff members are very aggressive and very unprofessional. I would not like to sell or rent my properties with this company as the service they offer is the most appalling I have seen across any industry. Property is certainly a peoples business and this branch has certainly failed to grasp this. Seems to be very poorly run from top to bottom and can't imagine if I had to sell a property with this company and how they would treat customers to general inquiries.
They need some serious restructuring and training standards are very poor. Hugely disappointing!

Stay clear of this estate agent we were duped after paying solicitors and having a house for 3 weeks they then allowed someone else who had a house up with them offer on the house we were purchasing and took it from us they then disregarded any other offers we put in even £25k higher than the original offer I don’t believe they were even put to solicitors or vendors so as a seller you could be out of pocket and as a buyer be aware the house is not yours until it’s signed and sealed their words not ours they also disclosed names and addresses of the other other party involved we guessed it was them but they actually gave us their names I would not want my details disclosing like they have I do hope karma comes around

Kate the branch manager clearly doesn’t understand the market. She came to my house for a valuation. She advised me to put it on the market at what they expect to achieve, so I went with that thinking they know what theyre doing. I was in a 20 week contract which would incur a 3% fee if I sold the house elsewhere opposed to their usual 1% I had 7 viewings in the first 6weeks of the contract then nothing after. I emailed Kate to remove the property from the market places, which was another headache with very little responses.
I would also like to point out Kate went to the effort to try to prove me wrong about not receiving a viewing confirmation email, I seriously can’t believe an adult in a management position would do this to a client! But nothing surprises me after the experience Ive had with this branch.
Since this, Ive gone with a different agent that put my property on the market 30k less and achieved the right price for my property, within 10 days and about 30viewings.

Last year l have brought my very first place with William H Brown from Psalters Lane Sheffield, and later the same year l put it back for sales from personal reasons with them and brought another one bigger but anyway.The price which l paid is ridiculous cheap for the massive job and support which they have done and offer for me.
I have worked with Marcus Smith as a mortgage advisor and all what l can say is only good things about him:( easy going, patient, professional, makes you understand every details and if you don’t is going on with with again and again until he makes sure you know what you doing, friendly, and etc) l will definitely recommend him to everyone. Also l’ve been working with Jess which he’s done my house valuation ,as well ( professional, friendly, helpful, etc) same as Ellie she came and took pictures of my house for the website and very helpful, calm, professional, etc. And not at last Melissa she’s brilliant, so professional and very friendly and she remembers every detail about you, she’s making sure you understand everything and if you’re stressed out, she’s calming you down moving things around for you and she’s doing everything to help you. No stars whatsoever are what I give William h brown I don't know where to start. There really are no words for this diabolical joke of an estate agent. Total and absolutely utter rubbish. No customer service, No communication. No response to my complaints, no return of calls,

Excellent service in particular from Dean Bickley. Was always on hand to answer our questions and was prompt with all paperwork!

Dean the mortgage advisor was fantastic! He explained everything thoroughly and wasn't pushy. He got me a fantastic deal and is still helping and checking in right up to the last minute. He also answered all my questions without getting stressed or annoyed no matter how tedious they were!

I've found them to be really nice and fast. They've been fairly considerate, they coulda knocked some money off for us but they met us in the middle, so overall they've been pretty good. They were helpful in selling our house and courteous of respecting our wishes. I think the experience has been good and at a pretty competitive good price too. John was an absolute star btw. Young guy - would highly recommend him.

Awful experience as buyers with this estate agent. They spelled our name wrong on all the documents, which meant the documents had to be reprinted which made the process longer than it should have. They also included my name on the documents which (at the time) was illegal! Do not use this company- absolutely awful!
