I have nothiong but high praise for the service I received from WH Brown in Haxby. From the initial contact, the valuation, photographs and buyers' pack, they were efficient and professional. My house was sold subject to contract in three weeks, and they handled all the viewings professionally and with care.
Selling a house is a profoundly emotional experience, and when things didn't go as quickly as I would have liked, I have to particulary thank Ellie Robinson who was always thoughtful, calm, professional, and relentlessly cheerful when I must have driven her mad. Thank you Ellie, and Nina too.

I recently purchased a house through William H Brown and, unfortunately, I would be reluctant to use them again. Communication throughout the process was poor, and there was no single point of contact from start to finish. I was passed between multiple people and departments. One department wasn’t even based in York and had little knowledge of the sellers or the property, which made the process even more frustrating.
It’s often the small touches that make a difference, and unlike other estate agents, there was no congratulatory card or gesture at all. Having sold my property through an independent estate agent at the same time, the contrast was huge, he was absolutely excellent throughout. I also received far better service from the estate agency who handled the purchase of my previous home a couple of years ago too.
To add to this, the “sold” sign took a week to be removed, and I had to request for this to be done.

My partner dealt with them primarily, and he always asks lots of questions, and we felt as though nothing was too much trouble. It’s very daunting being a first-time buyer, and I didn’t have much of a clue about how buying a house or getting a mortgage actually worked. From my first viewing, though, I felt that everyone at William Brown in Haxby genuinely had my best interests at heart.
Nicola was incredibly helpful and welcoming during both my first and second viewings, really knowledgeable and made me feel completely at ease throughout.
Hannah has been amazing. She helped me understand and arrange my mortgage, was reassuring every step of the way, and taught me so much about what to expect. She’s always been just a phone call away, quick to update me, and made sure I stayed on top of everything I needed to do. I’ve felt totally comfortable asking her any questions, and I’ll definitely be going back to her in the future.
Ellie has been nothing short of fantastic, really responsive and kept me informed the whole way through.

After 9 months and 3 viewings l took my house off the market. The current climate of increasing interest rates didn't help plus local competition. W H Brown were good but unfortunately didn't secure a sale. I feel the initial market valve was too high and did choose to reduce the price significantly but it didn't gain more interesr. I will put my house back on the market but would choose another agent.

As a first time buyer, I went into buying a property with very little if any knowledge of how the process, and mortgages, worked. From the first viewing I feel that everyone at William H Brown has always been putting my best interests first. Hannah has helped me massively with understanding and securing a mortgage, even after my first attempt at a purchase fell through, and has taught me a lot about what to expect in the future. She has always been on the end of the phone as soon as I need her and had kept me updated with everything that has been going on, as well as making sure I have done everything I need to do on time.
