Very poor experience renting through Cluttons.
We moved into the property with a damp bedroom wall caused by a leak from the kitchen above. We had been told it would be dried and repaired before we moved in, but it wasn’t. The wall was still wet and quickly developed black mould.
From week one we emailed regularly asking for the issue to be fixed, but nothing was properly resolved during the entire year-long tenancy. We were often told it was a council issue, but the property should never have been rented out in that condition.
Living with damp and mould made the room uncomfortable and at times unlivable, and I was ill multiple times during the tenancy.
The house was also left in a poor state when we moved in (rubbish in the garden, worn carpets, and areas that had clearly not been cleaned). Despite hiring a professional cleaner at the end of the tenancy, Cluttons still attempted to charge additional costs.
Compensation was eventually paid, but only after I threatened legal action. Overall, a very disappointing experience and poor property management.... Read more
