We are student at Durham University and we decided to rent a house. I called the estate agent and they agreed to send us the agreement and everything to rent this one house that we really liked. We were supposed to arrive a week later to submit the forms and pay deposit. When I got the papers, they confirmed with us that the house would be definitely be reserved for us. However, the morning we were supposed to hand in the papers, I got a short, badly articulated email saying that the property was no longer available and that we should look somewhere else. No explanation, nothing. We were angry because student accommodation is competitive and we lost so much time waiting for this house. Upon emailing them multiple times, they finally said that the previous tenants decided to stay for another year. Didn’t they confirm with the current tenants that they would be moving out? Why would they even list the house if that was an option? .Why send us the agreements and everything? They didn’t even bother trying to find us other options that we could stay at instead. All and all, I would never use this agent again because their service is absolutely terrible... Read more

Disappointing experience. Took time off work to attend a viewing, only to have the agent discuss a live offer with the seller in front of me during the appointment. It made for a really awkward and unprofessional situation. While they later acknowledged it could have been handled differently, they ultimately stood by their actions. Needless to say I wound trust then to be involved in and sales or purchase. Basic discretion during viewings shouldn’t be too much to expect right?... Read more

Useful to be invited to comment! I/we would say that it's never good to be provided with false information. Nor to suffer broken promises, or to be introduced to a buyer who definitely isn't going to be able to buy, and an agent is well aware. These things cause real damage and distress to a seller. I/we definitely don't recommend this business, it caused provable harm.... Read more
