I had a very disappointing experience with this letting agency. My viewing was confirmed both over the phone and by email, so I travelled to the property as agreed. When I arrived outside the property, they suddenly cancelled the viewing and gave me different excuses.
This was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. If the viewing could not take place, they should have informed me well in advance instead of letting me travel there for nothing. I expected much better communication and reliability from a letting agency.

I would like to give details on the great experience with Beresfords Firstly we struggled to find a place for our needs for "3 months". Beresfords kept communicating with us during this time while I could not get same support from other agencies working in the same region. This was a solid example they commit themselves to helping you - does not matter if you have strict requests or not.
Paul and Alice found me a perfect place and told me what needed to be done until I got my keys. They were always reachable and ready to help. Ella ensured I went through the process accordingly. And since I got my keys Karen answers every question I got. I am amazed by property management and how they were on top of everything, they also have a modernised inventory checkout section.

Very pleased with the professional and principled service we received at Beresford Billericay as sellers. I want to specifically mention that I saw first hand how a large neighbouring estate agent on the high street seems to engage in unscrupulous practices - pressurising potential buyers of properties they represent to also employ them for mortgage advice and conveyance and almost threatening buyers that unless they engage them for these additional services their bid for the property will be rejected. None of this nonsense with Beresford though...

I recently had the pleasure of working with Beresford letting agents in Billericay, and I can't recommend them enough! Cameron and Lynn Ray were both amazing throughout the process. They were kind, proactive, and incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to assist me with finding a rental property.
In a market with such a shortage of properties, I was worried that I wouldn't receive the attention and support I needed. However, Cameron and Lynn were different from other letting agents I've worked with in the past. They took the time to understand my requirements and were always available to answer my questions or provide advice.
Cameron &Lynn, in particular, was exceptional. They were patient, kind, and extremely proactive, working hard to find me the perfect property. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to guide me through the process.

Took over a month to return my tenancy deposit.
The communication about it was really bad - they went completely silent after I checked out, I had to send lots of emails to chase and some of them were ignored. They couldn’t give me timings for when it would happen. I had to open a dispute with the deposit protection service just because there was no end in sight. There was no apology for the delay. This was very clearly business as usual for them.
This wasn’t because there was a dispute about deductions. It was just radio silence. In the end they didn’t even want to make any deductions.
It’s a shame to have to leave this review. During the tenancy I thought they were quite good. They were responsive and happy to deal with maintenance issues. They did try to inspect the property during a national lockdown, which I thought was a bad & unethical decision on their part, but they were at least happy to cancel it for our property on request.
However, I think leaving a 1 star review just based on the deposit is completely justified. They need to understand is that keeping a large sum of peoples’ money for so much longer than the government’s mandated 10 days is completely unacceptable. They tried to blame the landlord’s lack of responsiveness. That is not a reasonable excuse. They are holding the money, and they are working on the landlord’s behalf.
I feel extremely strongly that this sort of treatment of tenants needs to improve.
Edit: In response to the reply from Beresfords: I don’t think it’s fair to pass the blame to the landlords. I don’t accept the claim that you ‘legally’ could not return the deposit according to some law, other than because it was in your contract with the landlord, which written by you and could be changed. If I’m mistaken I’d love to know where I can read about this supposed law. It feels like a convenient excuse or sob story to absolve yourself of responsibility from what is a genuinely unacceptable practice.
At the very least, you could very easily be putting more pressure on landlords. The fact I heard nothing from you until the second or third time I got in touch, weeks after I checked out, suggests it’s absolutely not on your priority list to ensure tenants get their money back quickly.

Bought a house through Beresford. The sales team were exceptional. Worked with Shirley who was professional, efficient and usually responded to any communication on the same day or if it was something out of her control she kept us updated throughout. Shirley was able to progress our purchase quite quickly. We also came across Paul who helped us with a second viewing and he was very good and knowledgeable.
We were renting our old property so we decided to use Beresford for the letting due to how pleased we were with the sales team. Initially, we found the lettings team a bit slow which was frustrating for us. The letting of our property is a business for us and speed is imperative. We were going to appoint another agent to take over the letting when we were introduced to Lizzie who is an absolute asset in the lettings. We stayed with Beresford lettings as a result of the service we received from Lizzie. She would keep us up to date, managed to find us a tenant quite quickly and she understood our situation. Lizzie has great people skills and is efficient. We also found Linn very helpful.
