Many months after our offer was accepted, we finally completed and moved in, to our surprise on that day the house didn’t resemble much the property we had agreed to buy.<br><br>Both front and back gardens had been completely neglected to the point where you can’t basically walk around, the carpets were in an appalling and unusable state. The house was so dirty that every surface was covered in dust and mouse droppings, there were spider webs throughout the property, and it was clear that no effort had been made to leave the home in a reasonable state for its new owners.<br><br>When we raised our concerns, the estate agent responded that their role was basically to hand over the keys. While we understand that the condition of the property is ultimately the seller’s responsibility, we would have expected the agency to provide at least some guidance to them about leaving a property in a presentable condition for completion, especially since we were patient enough to wait much longer than the original estimate date.<br><br>What should have been an exciting day turned into a disappointment within the first ten minutes of walking through the door. The lack of care from the sellers, left a very an awful impression, when you pay over a £1m for a house, one would expect some decency from the agents and the sellers to leave the place in a nice state.

We were dealing with a particularly difficult solicitor on the seller’s side and they were incredibly proactive in chasing and providing information to all parties. As a first-time buyer, I had hundreds of questions which they always answered quickly and in such a friendly manner. Every single person across the rest of the team has also been excellent whenever I have called. Thank you, all!!
