7th Feb 2025 (1 year ago)After minimal success with our first Agent in selling our house, we chose to move to 'James Gesner Estate agents' due to their knowledge of Wallingford and the surrounding area and specifically one area. Having the team represent our sale, and then to find us a property in the area we were looking to move, I would comment that James and the team were exceptional. The data (marketing report) that they provide against the sales element was informative, the viewings that they conducted, were very professional and the correspondence was always relevant, and always available. James is very knowledgeable where it matters and worked tirelessly in supporting both the house sale and purchase, and I felt that he really went above and beyond in providing a great service and doesn't seem to switch off by providing updates whilst in Mexico. James Gesner Estate Agency will certainly be first on my list for any House sales/Letting.
11th Sep 2025 (6 mo. ago)A few days ago, I visited a rental property and had a friendly conversation with Louise Pasker, the Lettings & Valuations Manager. We explored the house and talked about various topics. She promised to send my partner and I the necessary form, but she never did. My partner and I spoke more about the property the following day to weigh the pros and cons of the property. We were hesitant to commit to a home without thorough consideration. After really thinking it through and not just taking the property to have a home. Not one we didn’t find suited. It is unfortunate that Louise Pasker failed to provide the requested paperwork (if we were interested which last she heard we possibly interested) and did not respond to my partner’s email the day after. It is possible that she is experiencing annoyance, illness, or is part-time. In the event of illness, emails should be passed over to another colleague. If she is part-time, emails should also be passed over too. Regardless of her circumstances, it is unprofessional to: 1. Not reply to an email (in the email my partner also asked if they’re any other properties they have) 2. To not even send the forms she said she’d do Also, my partner sent another email today. Asking if Louise had seen the last email. Had no reply. It is very unprofessional to ignore someone’s emails that is asking questions.

5th Nov 2025 (19 weeks ago)Agents under valued our property- we ended up going elsewhere and managed to get 80K more than this agency wanted to put it onto the market for. To me, the agent didnt really seem to know what they were talking about. Owner seems more interested in opening new shops then helping with current clients and wasnt very attentive whilst showing him around. Would not recommend unfortunately.

From the initial valuation, speedy marketing, prompt arrangement of viewings and remarkably quick offer of the asking price, the whole process was swift, professional and efficient. 31st Jul 2024 (1 year ago)Inhouse operate as a team of friendly, experienced and knowledgeable agents. I think they overvalued the property to start with, but we got there in the end. The sale has not yet completed, so fingers crossed it goes through.

15th Jul 2025 (8 mo. ago)Overpromised, Underperformed and Untrustworthy – My Costly Mistake with HSD I initially listed my property with PurpleBricks in March 2025 for £535,000. After limited viewings over a three-month period, I began exploring other options and submitted an enquiry to WeBuyAnyHouse. They quickly came back with an offer of £460,000—roughly 14% below asking—claiming it would allow for a quick sale. I immediately declined, as I was not in a rush and didn’t want to take such a significant loss. Shortly after, my details were apparently passed on to House Sales Direct (HSD), seemingly a sister company, without my explicit consent. HSD came across as professional and engaging at first. They promised a 98% success rate in selling properties within 28 days, citing a strong network of pre-approved buyers and investors who could complete within 6–8 weeks. They suggested a sale price spread of £510k–£535k, assuring me they would work to get me the best price possible. It sounded promising. Based on these assurances, I decided to proceed with HSD. I withdrew my PurpleBricks listing—costing me £300—with the understanding that HSD’s investor network would accelerate the sale. But things quickly began to unravel. Despite supposedly having investors lined up, HSD said they needed to relist my property on Rightmove first. When I questioned why investors couldn’t simply view the home, the response was vague. It took nearly two weeks for them to relist, and the new asking price was £525,000. A full week passed without any communication. Then came a call recommending the price be dropped to £499,000. I was told this was “just a marketing tactic,” and that they still aimed to get me a sale within the original £510k–£535k range. But I struggled to understand how listing a property nearly £40,000 lower would achieve that. I asked again about the investors. They finally admitted the only offer received was the same £460k I'd declined weeks earlier through WeBuyAnyHouse. This was when the red flags really began to show. Why wasn’t I told this upfront? Why present an optimistic price range if their investor offer was fixed at £460k from the beginning? Why was I encouraged to pull the property from PurpleBricks if they intended to rely on the open market anyway? I could have just reduced the price there and avoided unnecessary costs and delays. Doing more research online, I found stories from others with eerily similar experiences. It appeared HSD’s real model was to attract sellers with high expectations and then drop the price, relying on open-market tactics to force a quick sale. Despite claiming not to charge commission, they would never clearly explain how they made their money. It seems they may be negotiating higher prices with buyers while offering sellers less—profiting off the gap. No transparency, no trust. Meanwhile, they knew I was paying a high mortgage on an empty property. It became clear they were hoping I’d become desperate enough to accept the same low £460k offer I had already rejected twice. In the four weeks my property was listed with them, only four viewings were arranged. Two were no-shows. Of the remaining two, one viewer stayed for just five minutes—asked no questions and didn’t even view all the rooms. It felt performative, not serious. As expected, neither viewer submitted an offer, despite supposedly being “pre-qualified and keen.” Eventually, I told HSD I wanted to withdraw the property. That’s when I was informed—shockingly—that I had unknowingly signed up for a 52-week contract, and I’d need to pay £1,500 to exit, or £999 if paid within 7 days. I wrote to them, acknowledged that they had done some work, and offered a reasonable £699 exit fee, explaining I needed to rent the home out due to financial strain. They refused and insisted on full payment. I paid the £999 immediately—but it still took a full week and several chasers before they finally removed the property from Rightmove. By the end of the ordeal, it was clear I was no longer a priority for them. In summary: Do I regret choosing HSD? Absolutely. Would I recommend them to someone looking for a fair, transparent, and professional house sale experience? No. If your only goal is to sell quickly and you don’t care about value, they might work for you. But if you want to sell your home at a decent price with a partner you can trust, I strongly advise staying away from HSD.

26th Feb 2026 (20 days ago)We cannot rate Waymark highly enough for their complete professional service throughout the whole selling process.The pictures were outstanding and Yas really captured each selling point of our house, showing it for the family home that it truly was, so much so that our house sold within the first few weeks. Viewings were a breeze and the communication was superb. Yas was on hand at all times and made the process seamless for us, despite there being some struggles along the way which were out of our hands. She is an exceptional estate agent who has thorough knowledge of the market and is an absolute joy to work with. If you are thinking of selling your property then these are the guys to go to! Five stars from us. Thank you so much Yas, if we ever sell again we won’t hesitate in coming back to you guys!

Stuart was a superstar through out the process and worked tirelessly to support the seller and indeed us and ensured the sale progressed as expected. He performed viewings without fault, went above an beyond and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Sadly we bought our forever home so we may not be using him anytime soon ????. Thanks Stuart.
13th Jun 2023 (2 years ago)Hathaways took over management of our Oxford property in April this year, and so far have been a breath of fresh air - it's great to be working again with a family concern, and to feel that they care about us and our tenants. The only issue we had was that some documents were rather unclear, but they responded promptly to my feedback and updated the docs to fix this. Service has been friendly and efficient.
