26th Apr 2026 (13 days ago)I am assisting my son in buying his first property and having enlisted with several agents only William from Douglas Allen has made the effort to actively contact me about possible properties and follow up on leads. His service and attention to detail were second to none and his friendly approach made me feel comfortable. Through his hard work we have managed to secure a property on the first weekend of viewings. Here’s hoping the transaction goes through but I am confident that if it doesn’t he will quickly be back on the case. I would have no hesitation in using his services to sell my property when the time comes.

My home had previously been listed with three different agents who were unable to secure a sale, yet Gabriel stepped in and achieved what the others could not. From the very beginning, he demonstrated a level of professionalism and persistence that truly set him apart from the rest of the industry. He is incredibly effective at what he does and remained dedicated to the process until the very end. If you want a result where others have failed, Gabriel is the person you need to go to.

23rd Apr 2026 (16 days ago)We recently bought our new home and sold our flat through Abode Estate Agents in Woodford Green, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Vicky was absolutely instrumental throughout the entire process. We first viewed an unbelievable opportunity down the road from our existing flat before it had even gone on the market, and she kindly allowed us to put in an offer early, which really helped get things moving quickly. From there, everything progressed at pace, and while the process wasn’t without its complexities, Vicky was always on hand and available — whether it was answering calls, keeping everyone aligned, or making sure communication never dropped. Her dedication, professionalism, and calm approach made a huge difference. I genuinely don’t think we would have managed to successfully complete both the sale and purchase without her support. I would highly recommend Abode and their fantastic team to anyone looking to buy or sell. Their knowledge of the local area and their professionalism are second to none. And a lovely bonus — they’re very dog-friendly! Every time I had an appointment, my dog was thoroughly spoiled with the best treats, which definitely earned them extra points ?????? This estate agency is a joke, rented a property from them for two years in Ipswich, on 4 separate occasions they allowed people to go in the house without out my knowledge or permission.. FOUR TIMES. Breaking the contract and just a cheap apology. Then I move out and 5 weeks later they are charging me for dust, and grass in the garden to be cut both was done when I moved out. There is no support for the tenant with this estate agency, they just don’t care. Worst estate agents ever. Avoid at all costs. I’m now taking them and the landlord to court.

They always answer the phone, kept us informed of how things were progressing and were constantly chasing. Our last sale took a bit of an effort with last minute enquiries and getting the dates aligned. I would not hesitate to use them again.
20th Mar 2026 (7 weeks ago)All the staff at Blake and Thickbroom were professional, kind, caring, efficient and I had excellent communication with them throughout the sale of my late father's house. David Allis did the initial appointment and was by far the most knowledgeable and professional of all the local Estate Agents we had booked for valuations in the Clacton Area. He gave me confidence and was not at all pushy to get the business but was respectful and clearly had years of experience in the trade, Jack and Joseph kept me updated and informed at least weekly by phone or e mail, Paul was also instrumental in the smooth and efficient sale. Unfortunately I suffered another significant bereavement during the period of selling which could have hindered things due to the nature of the death and as I do not live in the area but the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful whilst efficiently dealing with the sale which went through quickly and without any issues, I bought and sold a house in the area where I live 2 years ago and I can honestly say the experience was nothing like I had with Blake and Thickbroom . I highly recommend the company .
13th Apr 2026 (26 days ago)I got the viewing with this company with representative Hannah. Property in South Ockendon. During the viewing I confirmed that I will rent this property, it is fully satisfied us. On Monday at 15:00 LT Hannah called me and accept offer. I spoke to her that I need confirmation by e-mail and inform previous landlord the date of termination of contract and ask when is better for their landlord to move in. Simply remain small details which intake 30-40 minutes to negotiate. I terminate the contract with previous landlord because this letting agent confirmed me this property. Call Hannah after 30 minutes, about 15:30 , nobody replied in their office. Then he sent me the message that landlord choose another tenant. Absolutely not reliable and acting dishonestly, not fair, irresponsible including this landlord. Probably tenant need to additional information and at least get confirmation officially by e-mail? I don't recommend this company for further business. We are from Ukraine and we don't have such lawlessness like here. Absolutely negative and not reliable company. Waste my time and money for fuel.

5th May 2026 (4 days ago)????? We should have called Alex and Jane first. Here's why ?????? Selling our detached family home in Harlow (£700k–£800k range) was a long and frustrating journey until it wasn't. We interviewed over 10 agents before appointing Fortune & Coates. Glossy brochure, compelling pitch but after months on the market, no offers, pressure to reduce and persuaded us to sign with them by asserting that they could achieve a higher sale price for our home. We switched to Douglas Allen. Same story. More months, no offers and mounting pressure to drop significantly. We were deflated and questioning everything ?????? Then we found Durden & Hunt and everything changed for us ?????? Alex was exceptional from the start. Knowledgeable, personable and refreshingly honest. He asked brilliant questions, listened carefully and gave us a clear-eyed read of the market with no spin whatsoever. Alex explained that the strategies used by our previous agents were ineffective and crucially, he told us why. The optimal approach he advised is to list slightly below market value to generate strong interest and competitive demand allowing the market to determine true worth organically. He also cautioned that overpricing a property stifles interest and can lead buyers to question whether something is wrong. ?????? His assessment proved to be exactly right. He has stayed in close contact and continued offering genuine advice on our next property purchase something he has absolutely no obligation to do. In an industry where attention disappears once contracts are exchanged, that level of care is extraordinarily rare and deeply appreciated. Jane Lewis is quite simply, a rare gem ?????? Exceptionally knowledgeable, wonderfully warm and so genuinely kind. She qualifies every opportunity meticulously, ensuring only serious buyers came through our door. Her approach, her manner and her dedication are things you have to experience to truly appreciate. Words don't do her justice ?????? We listed early October. Less than four weeks later we had multiple offers. By early November it was agreed at the price we had originally hoped for ? Looking back, the lesson is clear?????? An overvaluation might feel flattering but it's a trap. It stalls momentum, erodes buyer confidence and costs you time and potentially money that you can't get back. Alex and Jane didn't tell us what we wanted to hear. They told us what we needed to hear and that honesty is exactly what sold our home at the price we always believed it deserved ?????? If you're in the Harlow or Epping area and serious about selling, please learn from our experience. Don't make the tour of the market that we did before finding the right answer. Go to Durden & Hunt first and ask for Alex and Jane. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and everyone. You will be in the very best of hands ?????? Five stars doesn't feel like enough. If Google allowed 10 stars, they would have them without hesitation. Thank you, Alex. Thank you, Jane ?? ? ??????

Communication was excellent throughout, and any issues on any side of the chain were dealt with quickly, calmly and effectively. Moving home is often described as one of life’s most stressful experiences, but Stewart genuinely took the stress out of it for us. It was a real pleasure to work with someone so professional, proactive and reassuring — we always felt confident knowing everything was in safe hands and that Stewart had complete command over proceedings.
