22nd Aug 2025 (6 mo. ago)Deans have been great through the whole buying and selling process. Staff have been helpful through every step. As an NHS staff member they offered a discount on fees which has been great. Have no complaints only positive experiences.
16th Feb 2022 (4 years ago)Worst company imaginable. Gave us misinformation for over six months regarding entry dates and also told us development was finished when it was not. Double check everything you are told by them. They misled us and we ended up over £18000 out of pocket. Avoid this company at all cost. They don’t admit liability for anything they do.

Selling real estate with her and her team was easy from start to finish. Excellent and fast communication with the client, timely assistance in any questions regarding the sale or purchase of real estate. I highly recommend!

The staff work as a team which makes for great customer care. They offer excellent advice on how to obtain the best price for your property.

24th Oct 2025 (21 weeks ago)I have dealt with this solicitor and property agents since 1985. They are the most professional, thorough and efficient company that i have ever had dealings with in my whole life. I have bought and sold 7 properties for myself, 1 property for my mother and 1 property for my son. The property front office run by Carolyn McLaughlin and her colleagues always marketed my properties extremely well which in turn led to most of them being sold in under a month. In relation to my solicitor Mr David Vause, he is the ultimate professional in his field. David was always able to resolve any issues quickly and move transactions forward . I was able to converse with him over the phone or by email when i needed to. On the 22nd of October i popped in to the office to pick up deeds wills and other business letters to pass on to a new solicitor in Ellon. Envelope with these documents were left at reception for me to pick up and sign for. However David came down and we had a long chat about our interactions over last 40 years. What an absolute gentleman and ultimate professional.

20th Dec 2023 (2 years ago)Absolutely pathetic service. We we lied to from the onset. Rod wouldn't get back for up to a month at a time. Carried out useless work for over inflated prices without permission. Incidentally nothing materialaliaed with anything that he said he had done. Sorry excuse of an Estate Agent and I would keep away real nightmare of a man. He would phone up every 3 to 4 months and say how much did you pay for your property originally and did this for years.
12th Feb 2026 (5 weeks ago)Would give 0 stars if I could, don’t go to them if you are thinking of renting through them, don’t go to them if you consider putting your property up for rent, don’t go to them if you want up to date emergency numbers for basic issues like plumbing, don’t go to them if you have a door handle that’s come off of a bedroom door and is now a fire safety issue (they still haven’t fixed it since first reported over 6 months ago), don’t go to them if you have any issues with a ceiling caving in thanks to a raw sewage leak (took about 40 days in all) nor don’t go to them about other people causing issues for you, as they refuse to deal with it, even if they have a duty of care for tenants suffering with said issues, or even investigate it for that matter. Might need the landlord to change letting agencies as these guys are utter clowns, dismissive and condescending. months of garbage from them.

They were extremely responsive when we asked questions and happy to explain any questions we may have. We also used them for our Will and we had the same, pleasure experience. Highly recommended.

15th Jul 2025 (8 mo. ago)Overpromised, Underperformed and Untrustworthy – My Costly Mistake with HSD I initially listed my property with PurpleBricks in March 2025 for £535,000. After limited viewings over a three-month period, I began exploring other options and submitted an enquiry to WeBuyAnyHouse. They quickly came back with an offer of £460,000—roughly 14% below asking—claiming it would allow for a quick sale. I immediately declined, as I was not in a rush and didn’t want to take such a significant loss. Shortly after, my details were apparently passed on to House Sales Direct (HSD), seemingly a sister company, without my explicit consent. HSD came across as professional and engaging at first. They promised a 98% success rate in selling properties within 28 days, citing a strong network of pre-approved buyers and investors who could complete within 6–8 weeks. They suggested a sale price spread of £510k–£535k, assuring me they would work to get me the best price possible. It sounded promising. Based on these assurances, I decided to proceed with HSD. I withdrew my PurpleBricks listing—costing me £300—with the understanding that HSD’s investor network would accelerate the sale. But things quickly began to unravel. Despite supposedly having investors lined up, HSD said they needed to relist my property on Rightmove first. When I questioned why investors couldn’t simply view the home, the response was vague. It took nearly two weeks for them to relist, and the new asking price was £525,000. A full week passed without any communication. Then came a call recommending the price be dropped to £499,000. I was told this was “just a marketing tactic,” and that they still aimed to get me a sale within the original £510k–£535k range. But I struggled to understand how listing a property nearly £40,000 lower would achieve that. I asked again about the investors. They finally admitted the only offer received was the same £460k I'd declined weeks earlier through WeBuyAnyHouse. This was when the red flags really began to show. Why wasn’t I told this upfront? Why present an optimistic price range if their investor offer was fixed at £460k from the beginning? Why was I encouraged to pull the property from PurpleBricks if they intended to rely on the open market anyway? I could have just reduced the price there and avoided unnecessary costs and delays. Doing more research online, I found stories from others with eerily similar experiences. It appeared HSD’s real model was to attract sellers with high expectations and then drop the price, relying on open-market tactics to force a quick sale. Despite claiming not to charge commission, they would never clearly explain how they made their money. It seems they may be negotiating higher prices with buyers while offering sellers less—profiting off the gap. No transparency, no trust. Meanwhile, they knew I was paying a high mortgage on an empty property. It became clear they were hoping I’d become desperate enough to accept the same low £460k offer I had already rejected twice. In the four weeks my property was listed with them, only four viewings were arranged. Two were no-shows. Of the remaining two, one viewer stayed for just five minutes—asked no questions and didn’t even view all the rooms. It felt performative, not serious. As expected, neither viewer submitted an offer, despite supposedly being “pre-qualified and keen.” Eventually, I told HSD I wanted to withdraw the property. That’s when I was informed—shockingly—that I had unknowingly signed up for a 52-week contract, and I’d need to pay £1,500 to exit, or £999 if paid within 7 days. I wrote to them, acknowledged that they had done some work, and offered a reasonable £699 exit fee, explaining I needed to rent the home out due to financial strain. They refused and insisted on full payment. I paid the £999 immediately—but it still took a full week and several chasers before they finally removed the property from Rightmove. By the end of the ordeal, it was clear I was no longer a priority for them. In summary: Do I regret choosing HSD? Absolutely. Would I recommend them to someone looking for a fair, transparent, and professional house sale experience? No. If your only goal is to sell quickly and you don’t care about value, they might work for you. But if you want to sell your home at a decent price with a partner you can trust, I strongly advise staying away from HSD.

Highly Recommended – Excellent Service from Peter Murphy Estate Agents We had a fantastic experience with Peter Murphy Estate Agents when selling our home in Fort William. From the very beginning, Peter was incredibly efficient and helpful, guiding us through every step of the process. He organised the home report quickly, handled all the marketing and estate agency work, and even recommended excellent solicitors, which made everything so much easier for us. Peter personally carried out all the viewings, which resulted in a very quick sale. Throughout the whole process, Peter was professional, approachable, and made what could have been a stressful experience feel simple and straightforward. We always felt confident that everything was in safe hands. We would highly recommend Peter Murphy Estate Agents to anyone looking to sell their home – an outstanding service from start to finish.

15th Nov 2025 (18 weeks ago)Extremely unprofessional experience with agent Alan Shields. We had a viewing booked for the 8th, but the agent, Alan Shields, moved it to the 13th because he was on holiday. We accepted this without any issue. On the 13th he informed us that he was travelling to Aberdeen and would contact us later that day to arrange a new viewing time. He never contacted us — we waited the entire day. Later we found out that the flat was already marked as under offer. At no point did he inform us that the property status had changed, even though he knew we were waiting for the rescheduled viewing. On the 14th, around lunchtime, I sent him a message asking for an update. He replied that he would call me “soon”, but he never called at all. We later learned that an offer was made on the 14th. This means we never even had the chance to view the property because the agent failed to keep his commitments and completely failed to communicate. He doesn’t even know how much we would have offered — because he never gave us the opportunity to view the flat or express our interest properly. I can’t believe how some adults behave like children—ignoring responsibilities, making excuses, and causing unnecessary problems. It’s frustrating to see such immaturity and lack of professionalism from someone who should know better. We rearranged our schedules twice and were genuinely interested in the property, but we were never given the opportunity to make an offer. This behaviour is unacceptable and reflects extremely poorly on the agency. I would not recommend them based on this experience.

The most amazing part I would never leave out would be how committed to answering and coming over to the house or the property whenever we had any challenge or issues. They were really handsome and responsible. I’m truly amazed by these show of dedication and operational sense. Thanks guys
