I’m a conveyancer and have been working in conveyancing for some time now, so I’ve dealt with countless estate agents. Unfortunately, many tend to leave everything to the conveyancers when it comes to chasing updates and progressing the matter. Dave has been outstanding throughout this transaction. He provided consistent updates and was extremely helpful in supporting the sellers with even the smallest matters, particularly when it came to obtaining documents and information from third parties, and ensuring the buyers’ requests were easily manageable for the client. This was also a chain of 8 properties, yet Dave stayed proactive and involved throughout while many other agents in the chain seemed content to sit back. It genuinely makes a difference working with someone who is engaged and committed to helping keep things moving. Dave was exactly that. Highly recommended.

From start to finish, the service was exceptional, and the sale of my flat was handled with professionalism, care, and genuine commitment. A special mention has to go to Nick, who truly went above and beyond at every stage of the process. He was proactive, responsive, and always willing to take the time to explain things clearly and keep me updated. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and his dedication made what can often be a stressful experience feel smooth and reassuring.

1st May 2026 (8 days ago)I highly recommend Brown & Merry in Newport Pagnell, especially Lydia Wilcock, Emily Jones and the wider team, for anyone looking to sell their home. From the very beginning, when I decided to sell my house in November, Lydia and her colleagues were friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. They clearly understood the local market and gave excellent advice from day one. Despite the market being slower at the time, they successfully found the right buyers within two months, and from going on the market to completion, the full process took five months, which I was very pleased with. Throughout the process, the team kept me regularly updated on my property’s performance, including Rightmove interest, market conditions, and realistic advice around pricing strategy. Their guidance helped me sell my home as quickly as possible while also achieving the best price I could. They also recommended Shoosmiths for conveyancing, which turned out to be an excellent recommendation and helped make the whole process run smoothly. What really stood out was the professionalism and communication of the entire team. They were consistently proactive, informative, and genuinely invested in achieving the best outcome for me. I’ve been so impressed that I’ve already recommended them to friends and am now using them for a second property sale as well. If you are thinking about selling your home, I would absolutely recommend Brown & Merry in Newport Pagnell. Five stars.
27th Apr 2026 (12 days ago)I had my first interactions with Ellen Roberts who is new to the company, last week. Her responsiveness was excellent and a breath of fresh air. She promised to come back to me and she did without any follow up. She fully understood what we were trying to achieve . Look forward to working with Ellen going forwards and if this level of client service continues Ellen will definitely be a welcome addition to the team.

22nd Apr 2026 (17 days ago)Both Stuart and Tom have been an absolute god send in what was made an incredibly difficult transaction by Solicitors. They have chased relentlessly to keep momentum and without them, I’m certain we would have seen the time at least doubled. A difficult property to sell, they managed to quickly find me buyers when the sale fell through 3 times, remaining calm and efficient the entire time. Unfortunately the original property we were buying also fell through, but some great alternatives were quickly presented, noting all the things which were important for us. Thank you so much guys!

I would have really liked more feedback and more of a push from there end to get creative in the sale space but I feel the experience overall is a positive one.

Found us a buyer within the first week of our house going on the market and we completed 2 and half months later! Can’t thank Kyle, Emma and Luke enough, whole team was on it the entire time. Highly recommend.

18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!

10th May 2022 (3 years ago)1st Choice a friendly family run business always maintained excellent communication which I really liked, if I had any problem weekday, weekend, or on a holiday, Kelly would reply back to my messages for support very quickly and same day. When I moved in to the property it was fully refurbished to an excellent standard. One time during winter I had a problem with my boiler with no heating for a few days. I made one call to 1st Choice and Mark dropped off some electric heaters, untill we got it fixed through Mear's. Anyone looking for property to rent then I would definatley recommend 1st Choice.

After having our flat on the market for three years with multiple other agents and getting nowhere, he managed to secure a sale in just two months. From the start , he has been proactive, communicative, and genuinely motivated to get the best outcome for our family. The difference in approach compared to our previous experiences was night and day – better marketing, regular updates, and a real sense that he cares about the service he provides.

17th Nov 2025 (25 weeks ago)They didn’t sell my house. I had to pull them off and go for a PTX as they began to give me anxiety. They didn’t keep me up to date and when it came to speaking to my PTX company they gave inaccurate information which affected my valuation. They seem like lovely people but I don’t think I will recommend them to anyone as there were just too many issues that I felt I didn’t have to deal with.
