She was always there when we needed her, even outside normal working hours and she made the whole process feel so much less stressful and easier than we expected. She genuinely went above and beyond for us. She is really passionate about about her job and ensuring that the seller and buyers are both updated throughout the journey . Without her help and dedication, we don’t think we would have been in a position to complete and own our first home. We are extremely grateful for everything she’s done, and it really feels like we’ve built a relationship that goes beyond just buying a house. Thank you so much, Loretta - you’re truly one of a kind.

Chose Franca thinking she would be good during the final (post offer but pre contract exchange) stage in the process, but it's someone else at Philip James that handles that side of things (who also seems good, but worth bearing in mind)!

15th Jun 2026 (20 days ago)The initial meeting to value the property, the subsequent meeting to take photos and the organising of the paperwork was great, we were impressed, which was why we went with them. Unfortunately, after 14 weeks on the market they had only got us 2 viewings and their communication to us was a bit hit and miss, so we decided to go with a different agent. They weren’t the right agent for us on this occasion.
23rd Jun 2026 (12 days ago)My estate agent ghosted me!<br><br>I listed my two-bed flat for sale with Melissa Berry in May. It was my first time selling a property, and thankfully Melissa seemed helpful and friendly at the valuation, although she did seem to take my lead on pricing the property rather than guiding me towards a price that she thought would be a best fit. A couple of weeks later she came to take photos – and that was, sadly, the last I saw or heard of her.<br><br>The property had been on the market for a couple of weeks when I emailed to check in, and asked whether there’d been any interest. I did get a reply from a sales agent called Geraldine, saying that someone was interested in viewing the property but wouldn’t be able to visit for a couple of weeks; I replied straight away with my availability and asked what sort of time the viewing would go ahead. No response.<br><br>A week later, I emailed again to ask if the viewing was going ahead. Again, I was ignored. I tried calling, and left messages. Finally, after waiting another week, I emailed one last time to say that I was going to list the flat with another agent and asking Melissa/Geraldine to remove it from their listings. I expected a reply to that, at least – but instead they quietly took the property off their website, again without replying to my email.<br><br>I wasted over a month trying to work with Melissa Berry, only to be completely ghosted and treated as though I didn’t exist. Whether it was something I said or the business has just taken on more clients than it can handle, I recommend avoiding them unless you enjoy the silent treatment: there are plenty of other agencies out there.

Simone has been patient, kind and incredibly proactive from the outset. When my offer on the house was accepted, she stayed behind after work to give me the good news personally, which meant a great deal to me.<br>I am genuinely grateful for all the help, guidance and support she has provided.<br>In addition the other members of staff have always been helpful and responsive. Thank you for helping me begin this exciting new chapter in my life. A solid 10 out of 10! :)

1st Jul 2026 (4 days ago)Ok, so this is going to be a tricky review to be positive about. I want to be as honest and helpful to people reading this review, rather than just say I am annoyed at something and give it a one star. If you don’t have much time to read through this, then please read this headline: I massively regret using Thornley groves. They were genuinely awful, barely reached any level of competence, I ended up LOSING money, and it was hugely stressful. I only rented a place. I cannot imagine ever buying or selling with them. Please read the other reviews carefully and don’t dismiss them as I did. I wish you the best in whatever estate agents you choose. This review is my opinion and not meant to affect business with Thornley Groves in any way. OK, on with the detail. First, the good parts. They had a lot of choice and were quick to get me viewings (I did them through video or pictures) and were happy as campers to ‘get me in’ and on their books. Yep, that’s it. That’s all I have. The not so good (not even the worst parts yet). I dealt with the Deansgate (Whitworth street) branch and with an absolutely abysmal person, Peter. If you do choose Thornley Groves and get assigned Peter, do or say whatever you can to work with someone else. I am not sure how to put this without being cruel, but I also owe it to my (soon to be) Manchester neighbours to be honest. This is my honest opinion. Peter is, without a doubt, the worst person I have ever dealt with professionally. Genuinely. That is not even hyperbole. He is inadequate, lazy, afraid of basic tasks, unable or unwilling to do anything even at the bare minimum level, and honestly just embarrassing as a fellow human. He wouldn’t return emails. Ever. In fact, he did but only when it came to sending them money or signing a document. Anything that needed any effort or work, he literally ignored. He is like a toddler but in an adult body. Simply unable to operate at any sort of adult level. I had to call and call and call. I even got the train from London to the office so I could literally use my own mobile phone and dial numbers to connect with others, so he could talk to them. He used my phone because he couldn’t make a phone call for himself. (He also claimed he tried but could never get it to work, but it took me literally three minutes. Genuinely, I have the call log!). He didn’t give me the correct keys to move in. Once we got through it, Peter gave me the front door key and I asked if there were any others. Mail keys, apartment building keys, etc. He assured me no. Literally all keys were needed. It took me 3 weeks and speaking with other people at Thornle Groves to get the window key (still waiting on), apartment building/trash room key, and mailbox key. Even when I collected the keys, I overheard him talking to another person that very day, just before me, saying he gave the wrong keys to him. Also, they don’t tell you who your service providers are. I spent a few weeks tracking down who I need to pay bills to. You are given a list of UK service providers and that’s it, just figure it out for yourself. Lastly, the goodlord referencing company were just as bad as Thornley groves. They sent so many referring emails to my employer (they only need one but sent around 6 over the course of weeks) I had the owner of the company asking me what was going on. They took weeks longer than needed. It cost me around 500GBP in hotels for the delay, and they lied, multiple times about things they were doing. One lie was to say that my company had never replied (even though the owner and head of HR showed me the replies themselves). Thornley Groves chose to use that specific referencing company. Their behaviour also reflects on them. If you have read this far, then fair play, this one was a long review. The thing is, I don’t believe this is a one off. I am not just some random person with a grudge, I am like you. Looking for a new place, wanting it to go as smoothly as possible. I have all my ducks in a row, great credit, good job, charm and charisma (well, maybe not), and it was still a nightmare choosing Thornley Groves and, ergh, dare I say his name, Peter. The abomination they call Peter! I wish I had took the other 1-star reviews more seriously. I thought they were just some disgruntled people and it would be fine. It wasn’t. I deeply deeply regret ever speaking to Thornely Groves.
3rd Jun 2026 (5 weeks ago)Day 34 surprise surprise 3pm the following day and no pack sent! They are absolutely disgusting! Not even an email or a phone call to apologise. Do not use this company! Day 33 Martin and Co promised to send the pack by end of business today Day 32 and still nothing! Please do not use this company. The comments from Earl below to try and reassure are utterly useless. We're now 32 days in waiting for this legal pack and still nothing and paid a ridiculous amount for the privilege of this. Not even an email or a phone call to apologise. Not, 'we'll chase it,' Nothing. And now after I've emailed, AGAIN, are they going to chase. Why weren't they - after 32 days - chasing this already. You can forgive small mistakes, but this is just utter incompetence. Day 18 and still nothing. I can’t begin to tell you how useless Martin and Co are. 1st May - took over management and told they were hopeful information would be loaded on system that afternoon. 8th May - told just a couple of more things to upload 12th May - told it’s not there responsibility and had been outsourced and had to wait 14th May - 14 days after and still nothing. Write 1 star review in frustration 16th May - MD responded to apologise and promised to get to the bottom of it 16th May - told uploaded but now the information had to ‘sync’ but we’d hear Monday morning 18th May - surprise surprise - NOTHING 19th May - finally hear but now charged £564 for a legal pack which cost me £300 last year and now, I have to wait up to ten days for this as it's outsourced again and out of their hands. To say Martin and Co disgust me is putting it lightly. They've actually made me feel physcially sick. Avoid them at all costs. There is nothing good about this company. The stress they have caused me is off the scale. The whole chain knows the stall in this sale is down to Martin & Co. Two and a half months I’ve been waiting for this legal pack to sell my property. I’m literally trapped in a property through their incompetence & the worst is knowing we haven’t even got to the point of them putting the legal pack together yet. Useless & incompetent.

From helping me list my house and conducting viewings to negotiating a sale over the asking price, Will was outstanding throughout. He also did a fantastic job progressing the sale and keeping everything moving smoothly from start to finish. Proffesional, proactive, and always communicative, I couldn't have asked for a better service. Highly recommended

19th Jan 2026 (24 weeks ago)I take no satisfaction in saying this is a very unprofessional disorganised outfit. I let my house out through them and initially seemed ok but soon turned out to be a nightmare. Phone calls and emails are very rarely returned or answered, the guy dealing with my house…Sam is off on a Monday so everything is put on hold until he returns and he remembers to get back to you. Payments frequently late without any reason or explanation and to top it all when tenants were moving out after having given notice they left it until a month before to re advertise it which resulted in my property standing empty for 6 weeks. I’ve since changed to a much more professional firm with whom I’m very happy. In the last two weeks I’ve sent an email and spoken to someone on the phone as i needed a tax statement for the year….you won’t be surprised to discover there’s nothing been forthcoming. Avoid like the plague.

The team was incredibly helpful, responsive, and understanding throughout the whole process.<br><br>I was in a difficult situation waiting for my previous tenancy deposit to be returned, and they took the time to listen and speak with the landlord on my behalf. Thanks to their kindness and flexibility, they were able to accommodate my circumstances, which took a huge amount of stress off my shoulders.<br><br>A special thank you to Casey and the team for their professionalism and support. They truly care about their tenants and go above and beyond to help.<br><br>I would highly recommend MCR Move to anyone looking for a reliable and understanding letting agency.
