31st Jul 2023 (3 years ago)Living in Bridlington and having to sell my parents property in Louth I was unsure of which estate agent to use , however , I just recalled that a board with "John Taylor " on had been outside my grandparents property way back so I decided on that. What a great decision that was, John Taylor have been exceptional from day one to completion, always at the end of the phone with help and advice, great communications as to when viewings would be ( the property was empty and the keys left with John Taylor, and a great understanding that this was not just a house sale to me but the sale of my family home for the last 69 years, the house I grew up in and called home for all those years. I cannot fault them in any way , the only word I can use is "exceptional" Special thanks to Anne who was outstanding , she is a star. kindest regards to all at John Taylor and many many thanks . 10th Aug 2023 (3 years ago)Katie was so knowledgeable and had really done her homework on market trends, prices, sales, etc, in the area. We were so impressed and decided to use Bairstow Eves. It turned out to be the right decision and they have been excellent. I cannot fault them at all and would have no hesitation recommend these guys. In particular, the Carlton branch who are a great team. Thanks guys.
13th Aug 2023 (3 years ago)We had our house with them for 15 weeks approx and only had 1 viewing in all that time I had to call for any updates and communication was only after I called or emailed
12th May 2026 (15 weeks ago)Having met Claire Brown I felt confident in signing with William H Brown. What a mistake! I decided to try the modern auction method as I had no above chain. I filled in all necessary paperwork with the solicitor & auction house. 2 negotiators were sent round and promised me (Ryan particularly) that absolutely they could sell my house, it was beautiful and it would be a pleasure to sell it etc etc. Within a week I went into the office as had heard nothing and asked was there anything I could do . I was told no there wasn’t. Having been informed by Ryan that January was busy initially he then retracted stating with another member of the team that this January was the worst on record. I received 1 phone call from Ryan telling me had an interested party, hmmm don't think that was true. Said interested party obviously never materialised. In 12 plus weeks I have not heard from any staff ! The auctioneer has been in touch on and off. Thank goodness my time is now up and my contract terminated. I would advise anyone thinking of signing to not waste your time as first impressions are not always the best. I absolutely would not recommend this company. They are beyond unprofessional in every way. Please people, there are clearly far better agents in Rushden & Higham Ferrers.

Specifically, I want to mention Aaron - very helpful, pleasant in communication, and ready to go the extra mile to explain and assist throughout the process. Great service!

11th Jul 2026 (6 weeks ago)My husband and I put our house on the market with Richard Watkins in Radcliffe on Trent and were tied into a 14-week sole agency agreement. After 12 weeks, with no progress, we asked for our property to be removed from the market.<br><br>During that time, we received no offers, very little communication, and virtually no feedback from viewings. We were never approached to discuss changing the marketing strategy, reviewing the photographs or advert, or considering any other ideas to help generate more interest. It felt as though our sale had simply been left to drift until WE had to ask what was going on and what changes could be made.<br><br>Ultimately, we decided to change agents and within less than 48 hours of our property going back on the market, we had received and accepted an offer—a stark contrast!!!<br><br>One of the viewers who had originally viewed our property through Richard Watkins even returned to view with our new agent. We were told that they said they had only ever received one attempted phone call asking for feedback after their original viewing, which was very disappointing to hear as Richard Watkins ensured us their approach was to ring viewers three times to gain feedback.<br><br>We understand that no estate agent can guarantee a sale, and the property market can be unpredictable. However, what we do expect is regular communication, honest feedback, and a proactive approach. Sadly, that wasn’t our experience.<br><br>The delays ultimately meant we missed out on purchasing what we believed would have been our forever home, making the experience even more upsetting.<br><br>Before leaving this review, I contacted Richard Watkins directly to share our experience in the hope that the feedback would help improve their service. My email was honest and constructive, but unfortunately I never received a reply.<br><br>Since then, I’ve spoken to other people in the village and some have shared similar experiences with the Radcliffe branch. While I can only speak for our own experience, it was disappointing to hear.<br><br>It’s such a shame because Radcliffe on Trent is a close-knit community, and we genuinely felt let down. Selling your home is deeply personal—it’s not just another business transaction. We expected communication, guidance and a proactive approach throughout the process, but unfortunately that wasn’t what we received.<br><br>I haven’t written this review to criticise for the sake of it or to damage anyone’s reputation. I’ve written it in the hope that honest feedback leads to positive change, so future clients receive the level of communication, guidance and support that we felt was missing.<br><br>Based on our experience, I would encourage anyone considering Richard Watkins to think carefully before instructing them. If you do choose them, be prepared to chase regularly for updates rather than expecting proactive communication.

Best agents I have ever dealt with - communication was second to none, checking in all the time, updating, calling in when I was sick to check on me ! way above and beyond. Totally professional, ensured all 3 knew my property inside out - just fantastic, open, honest, transparent - absolute pleasure to have dealt with them and if ever I sell again, they will be who I chose hands down.
