30th May 2026 (7 weeks ago)We rented this house from them on a one-year contract. However, the house became too small for our needs, so we informed them that we wanted to move out. When the time came to leave the property, we cleaned the entire house thoroughly and handed it back in excellent condition. so we cleaned and improved everything ourselves. We paid the full deposit of £2,000 Before leaving, we thoroughly cleaned the entire property and made sure everything was spotless. We even sent them proof of the cleaning. Despite this, they unfairly kept our deposit. We made many requests and tried to resolve the issue, but nobody listened and no action was taken. So please be careful and avoid dealing with them. They are complete scammers.

An incredibly professional organisation, they were always quick to answer any questions or requests I had. Also any issues or problems within the house were sorted swiftly and without issue. Also very friendly and polite individuals, can't recommend enough.

He supported me throughout the whole mortgage process, explained everything clearly, and was always available whenever I had questions. 5th Jul 2026 (11 days ago)After a long and sometimes challenging sale, we have now completed on our house and wanted to thank everyone at John Thoma Estate Agents in Chigwell.<br>From the outset, John and Matt provided excellent knowledge of the local market, together with honest advice and realistic guidance throughout what became a lengthy process.<br>A special mention goes to Lewis, who was exceptional from start to finish. His communication was first class, always keeping us updated, chasing solicitors and other parties when needed, and ensuring we always knew exactly where things stood. His professionalism, persistence and proactive approach were instrumental in getting our sale over the line.<br>I would have no hesitation in recommending John Thoma Estate Agents to anyone looking to sell or buy a property. 27th May 2026 (7 weeks ago)We requested a valuation. The person who came to visit our property was despondent and showed no interest what so ever in our questions. We were given no information on how the estate agency works the fees. Just a pamphlet show similar properties sold in our area. These were from other estate agents, so the moment they left I arranged for them to visit. Already had fabulous service and communication from the other estate agencies. Awful. Would not want them selling my property. Total lack of enthusiasm and information.

Very professional, approachable, honest and always available. No hard sales waffle, no forcing stats to try tease the sale price down. I have nothing but praise for this team who listened and then worked with enthusiasm towards my end goal. Recently I have used them to find a new tenant and to sort out redecoration in a very short space of time which they did brilliantly. Both Tracy and Charlotte have been very helpful, proactive and kept me updated with each development. I highly recommend them.

The whole team were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The respect they showed when valuing the property was so kind and realistic . Any time we called with a query , it was death with so efficiently. The whole process was amazing and we would highly recommend them .

The valuer was very friendly and professional, explained everything in detail and had excellent knowledge of the local area. The rate was very fair and included VAT. I was delighted with the photos and the walkthrough which showed my house to it's best. All the viewings went smoothly, giving me plenty of notice and feedback afterwards. Everyone worked hard to get me the best price in the current market and my house sold in less than 8 weeks.

27th Jan 2026 (24 weeks ago)We were greatly disappointed as a potential buyer dealing with this estate agent. We had travelled some 60 miles and taken a ferry to the Isle of Wight to view a property in Newport. We had booked an appointment for 2pm. We arrived at 2:10pm. Without any courtesy call or email to chase on our whereabouts (we were delayed by the ferry - and the agent Laura knew we were on the mainland) I had to call her five times at which point she told me she left the property as she had another appointment. She was rude, offered no alternative appointment and appeared just not to care. Clearly had a higher commission viewing elsewhere.
