12th Oct 2026 (15 days ago)My experience with Dacre, Son and Hartley’s Skipton branch was somewhat mixed. Ultimately, I was able to sell my property within five weeks, which I'm grateful for.<br><br>The overall marketing of the property didn't seem hugely proactive. When it came to the initial valuation, I felt they could have lent greater consideration to the condition and interior of the property, as the approach seemed to rely largely on a broad-brush search of properties in the local area which typically were in need of modernisation. I also got the impression that their network for selling traditional Skipton terrace properties may be somewhat limited, with firms such as Harrison Boothman or Hardisty perhaps being more specialised in this area.<br><br>In addition, I felt that there was much room for improvement in terms of client care. I was contacted on a handful of occasions with rather catastrophising scenarios which, in hindsight, were not warranted.<br><br>Overall, the staff were very pleasant and easy to reach, but I was left with the impression that the branch may rely quite heavily on its prominent high-street location and the footfall it attracts, rather than on a more proactive and tailored approach to selling properties.
21st Aug 2026 (10 weeks ago)Terrible agent<br><br>I went to view a house last week. I had no contact from the estate agent to ask me for feedback, so I resorted to submitting an offer by email. I got a receipt saying they had accepted my offer, and that was it nothing more.<br><br>I didn't hear anything for over a week, so I sent a courtesy email to them asking for an update, to which I received an out-of-office notice from the 'senior negotiator' with no sign that my message had been passed on. So I sent my follow-up email to the office instead.<br><br>6 hours later a got a phone call saying they had taken another offer from someone else.<br><br>At no point was I informed of any offers, or the seller's situation and how they will be dealing with offers, which in this process is valuable information.<br><br>In reality, I could improve my offer, had a solicitor ready to act, and a mortgage in place and a deposit, which make me a low-risk buyer.<br><br>I find this lack of communication poor when dealing with people's emotions and money. I understand I lost out to a cash buyer, which is understandable as that is a good position to be in. My frustrations aren't with the seller but the estate agent as this does not account for their poor/lack of communication through the process- 13th Sep 2025 (1 year ago)The only element of concern was the property was valued too high and I had to reduce on a couple of occasions and then accepted an offer lower than the reduction.

We were impressed throughout the process by their level of knowledge, kindness and professionalism. In all our years of buying and selling houses we have never received this level of support and outstanding service - prompt updates, considered advice, superb communication, all leading to a sale. I called to arrange a viewing for a property I was genuinely interested in and was told that veiwing is not yet started but I’d be added to the waiting list. I provided all the requested information, including details about my income and family circumstances, but heard nothing for two weeks. When I followed up, they claimed to have no record of my enquiry and said the list was already full. There was no attempt to resolve the issue or acknowledge the mistake. Poor communication and poor customer service.
20th Oct 2026 (7 days ago)Professional<br>I recently purchased a property through carter jonas and dealt primarily with Tony write, from the initial first conversation Tony was extremely helpful dealing with a property that wasn’t always completely straightforward but he was so professional and knowledgeable about the property and the issues regarding the purchase.<br>Tony was on hand throughout the process supporting us with solicitor questions and keeping us updated throughout, which made such a difference to us as buyers.<br>Thank you Tony you did a fantastic job.

Lucy carried out the property inspection…excellent! Hollie did all the viewings and kept us informed regularly of any interest in renting! Some references took a while to come through, but hey that’s the way it goes, not the fault of Hollie or Linley & Simpson!
